Steelers vs. Colts: Indy linebacker asking for trouble with Terrible Towel threat

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin commented about stealing Terrible Towels from Steelers fans during their Week 4 matchup.

Somebody needs to tell Indianapolis Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin about the “Terrible Towel Curse.” Or not.

Steelers fans are arguably the best traveling crowd in the NFL, and Sunday will be no different. Plenty of Terrible Towels will be waving at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday, and Franklin has threatened to snatch a couple.

“Hopefully, we get to steal a couple of Terrible Towels,” Franklin told WTHR. “I might try to snatch one myself. We’ll see.”

Joking or not, stealing a towel is a warning that won’t be taken lightly by the Steelers or their fans. In fact, Franklin’s comment will only add fuel to the fire.

Franklin must not have heard about the curse stealing and waving the towel has brought upon franchises like the Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans and, most recently, the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jacksonville has lost nine games (to three wins) since the players celebrated an interception by taking a Terrible Towel and mockingly waving it.

No team disrespects the Towel and gets away with it. Franklin might want to think twice before he dooms his 1-2 Colts.

Terrible Towel curse strikes down the Jaguars

The curse of the Terrible Towel strikes again as the Jacksonville Jaguars, who mocked the Steelers’ tradition, have gone 3-9 since.

Oh, how the tables have turned. The curse of the Terrible Towel appears to be in full force, working its terrible magic in the shadows, destroying the Jacksonville Jaguars from within.

All the way back during the 2023 regular season’s Week 8 game, the Jacksonville Jaguars, who were 5-2 at the time, took on the 4-2 Steelers in Pittsburgh. It seemed like just any ordinary 2023 Steelers game—an inability to score on offense, poor play calling, etc. That was until Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard intercepted an ugly throw by Mitch Trubisky. The visiting Jaguars celebrated by stealing a few Terrible Towels and waving them around in mockery.

It is safe to say, like with all the other curses, Pittsburgh has gotten the last laugh. The Jacksonville Jaguars were primed for big things, both at the end of the 2023 season and the beginning of this season, but they have plummeted, losing 9 out of 12 games since.

The Jaguars were crushed in this week’s Monday Night doubleheader against the Buffalo Bills, 47-10, with their record moving to 0-3 on the season.
