4 Texas A&M baseball players named in Perfect Games’ Top 101 Sophomores list

Four Texas A&M baseball players are named to Perfect Games USA’s Sophomore Top 101 list

On Tuesday morning, Perfect Game USA named Texas A&M Sophomores Gavin Grahovac, Caden Sorrell, Isaac Morton, and Clayton Freshcorn to their Top 101 Sophomores list.

Last season, Grahovac and Sorrell significantly contributed as freshmen during the Aggies’ journey to the College World Series. Grahovac entered with high expectations, and once he settled in, his talent became evident. He earned the 2024 SEC Freshman of the Year title and was recognized as a consensus freshman All-American.

Sorrell was also a highly touted freshman but came on a little later. He became the starting left fielder and made the Freshman All-American team. His emergence gave them more speed in the outfield, resulting in a handful of highlight plays.

Pitchers Morton and Freshcorn will compete for mound time in a stacked bullpen. Both have the tools to get weekend playing time, and we’ll have to wait and see how the rotation will work out under the new pitching coach

The baseball team will start the season on February 14 against Elon at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

2 Texas A&M baseball players named in Perfect Games’ Top 75 Freshman list

Texas A&M newcomers are the top half of Perfect Games USA’s Freshman Top 75 list

On Tuesday morning, Perfect Game USA named Texas A&M freshmen Sawyer Farr and Terrence Kiel II to their Top 75 Freshman list.

Of the two, Farr is the one to see the field more this season, and Kiel has elite speed on the bases to make him a prime candidate as a pinch runner early in the season to get some experience. Here are the observations from Fall Ball based on the view of Isiah Burrows of Perfect Game USA.

“Armed with real switch hit juice, true freshman Sawyer Farr hit some balls extremely hard in looks and got some starts at second base, though the frame and athlete may move him to the left side of the dirt long term.”

” Terrence Kiel II didn’t make too loud of contact in looks, but the athlete and speed is high end. He burned a 4.1 home-to-first and can flat out roam in center field, the tools are really coming along”

Texas A&M Football offers Aggie legacy, Terrence Kiel Jr.

Texas A&M has offered Terrence Kiel Jr., son of the late Aggies safety, Terrence Kiel, who played for the Aggies from 1999-2002.

One of the best parts of recruiting for any sport is the legacy aspect, especially concerning Texas A&M. Throughout the decades, several former A&M athletes have experienced the joy of watching their sons or daughters don the Maroon and White and carry on the Aggie legacy.

On Saturday, head coach Jimbo Fisher officially fielded an offer to current Aggie baseball commit Terrence Kiel Jr., son of former Texas A&M safety (199-2002) Terrence Kiel, who tragically lost his life in a car accident in 2008 after three NFL seasons with the then San Diego Chargers.

As a duel athlete, currently more known for his skills on the diamond, he committed to Jim Schlossnagle in August of last year as a shortstop and outfielder. Still, at 5-11 and 170 pounds, Kiel Jr. is also a two-way athlete on the gridiron, excelling at wide receiver and cornerback at Pace Academy in Atlanta, Georgia.

Recruited by Aggies defensive backs coach TJ Rushing for 2022 junior season, Kiel Jr. recorded over 1,600 total yards on offense, seven pass breakups, and one interception on defense, with the ability to excel at either position due to his size, speed, and versatility as an athlete.

Congratulations, Terrence! Gig ‘Em!
