Report: Wisconsin pursuing former James Madison star forward

Wisconsin is among the schools that have reached out to former James Madison star forward Terrence Edwards Jr., according to a report from 247Sports’ Luke Chaney.

Edwards averaged 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 2023-24 for the Dukes, doing so on 46% shooting and 34% from three. He put up 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in James Madison’s 72-61 NCAA Tournament win over the Badgers.

The 6’6″ forward would fill the possible void left by A.J. Storr, who recently declared for the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility.

Wisconsin is included among the schools that have reportedly reached out to Edwards along with TCU, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Xavier and Oregon.

Greg Gard has work to do in the transfer portal as he works to reload entering a 2024-25 season that is pivotal to his tenure as head coach. Wisconsin has not made the Sweet Sixteen since 2017, and desperately needs a team good enough to make a deep postseason run.

UGA’s all-time leading WR takes high school HC job

Former Georgia Bulldogs star wide receiver accepts head coaching role at Georgia high school

Former Georgia wide receiver Terrence Edwards accepted the head coaching position at Mount Vernon School (Atlanta) on Thursday.

Edwards holds UGA’s all-time receiving records in career receiving yards (3,093), career touchdown receptions (30) and most receiving yards in a single season (1,004).

Edwards played for the Bulldogs from 1999-2002 before joining the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2003. Injuries plagued Edwards’ single year in the NFL, and he spent the 2004 season out of football entirely before joining the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts in 2005.

Edwards spent nine seasons in the CFL, which also included stints with the Montreal Alouettes and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He is considered one of the most productive receivers in CFL history, earning All-Star honors in 2007, 2010 and 2011. Edwards retired from football in 2013 after totaling 508 catches for 7,673 yards and 47 touchdowns.

Edwards created his company, Terrence Edwards’ Wide Receiver Academy, in 2015. It trains wide receivers.

Georgia tight end Brock Bowers came close to breaking Edwards’ career touchdowns record, but an ankle injury derailed Bowers’ hopes of breaking that record.

Mark Richt and Terrence Edwards to be inducted into Florida-Georgia Hall of Fame

Former UGA head coach Mark Richt and Terrance Edwards will be inducted into the Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame this year in Jacksonville.

Former head coach Mark Richt and former receiver Terrence Edwards are set to be inducted into the Florida-Georgia Hall of Fame next week in Jacksonville. The two are the newest members set to be recognized during one of the best rivalries in the SEC.

This honor is one of many Richt has received since retiring from the sport in 2018. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame this year. He had a record of 145-51 during his time at Georgia. Richt is also highly-regarded off the field with his contributions to researching Parkinson’s and Crohn’s disease.

Edwards is the other Bulldog inductee with Richt. Edwards had a very successful four-year career with the Bulldogs from 1999 to 2002. He holds multiple receiving records such as the career receiving yards with 3,093 and career touchdowns with 30. Edwards was in the NFL for a short stint, but really found his footing in the CFL. In 2017, he was inducted into the Winnipeg Football Club Hall of Fame.

Tight end Brock Bowers is the player closest to breaking one of Edwards records, receiving touchdowns. Bowers likely will not come close to that record as he underwent surgery on his ankle that will take him out for much of the rest of the regular season.
