Teddy Bridgewater suffered a career-threatening knee injury four years ago today when he was at training camp with the Vikings. On this anniversary, Carolina’s new starting quarterback reflected on all that uncertainty and pain on Twitter. Bridgewater says he found peace and purpose.

While riding in back of that ambulance, I didn’t know what my football future had in store for me. In the midst of so much uncertainty and pain, I found peace and my purpose in life.
Dear August 30, 2016…..
Thank you.

The injury was described as “horribly grotesque” when it happened. Brigewater tore his ACL and suffered a dislocated knee at the same time and apparently freaked out his surgeon.
After sitting out nearly two seasons and playing as a backup for another two, Bridgewater has finally earned his opportunity to start again with the Panthers. Regardless of your feelings about Cam Newton, if you’re not rooting for Teddy to succeed we don’t know how to help you.
