With NFL teams off until late July, players are expected to keep in shape and come prepared for training camp before preseason games start.

One event that gets held over the dead period, is the Tight End University summit that’s put on annually by former NFL tight end Greg Olsen, Travis Kelce and George Kittle.

In the Miami Dolphins Durham Smythe and Mike Gesicki had been in attendance, but this year, they had two new players among the participants – Tyler Kroft and Eric Saubert.

This summit, held from June 20-22 in Nashville, Tennesseee, allows tight ends to learn some of the tips and tricks that the very best use/used during their career. This year, former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski joined the coaching staff, and there might not be anyone better to learn from.

It’s unclear if the Dolphins had any other tight ends participating, but it’s great to see Kroft and Saubert putting in that extra work to make sure they’re at their best for the 2023 season.

Durham Smythe joined Mike Gesicki at TE University summit

This was a great opportunity for Miami’s TE2.

Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Greg Olsen, three of the most impressive tight ends in the last decade, hosted their second annual TE University summit in Nashville, Tennessee last week.

Tight ends from around the league gathered together to teach and learn some of the best tricks of the trade with legends like Dallas Clark helping out with some on-field work.

It was already known that the Miami Dolphins were going to have one tight end in attendance in Mike Gesicki. However, Durham Smythe, Miami’s second tight end on the depth chart, posted on social media saying that he took part as well.

Smythe, who’s entering his fifth NFL season, set career-highs in receptions (34) and receiving yards (357) in 2021. Having the opportunity to learn from and with some of the best players at his position should benefit him entering 2022. Hopefully, he picked up some tricks that will help him get into the endzone after failing to do so last year.

At least one Dolphin heading to George Kittle’s Tight End University

This will be his second year in attendance.

All of the participants have yet to be announced for George Kittle, Greg Olsen and Travis Kelce’s Tight End University program in Nashville, Tennessee, but we know at least one Miami Dolphin will be in attendance.

The event’s social media account posted this week that Mike Gesicki would be participating. This is the second year of the program, and it’s the second year that Miami’s top tight end will be there.

TE U, as it’s been called, is a three-day event where a number of talented players at the position gather to share their tricks of the trade with each other with the hopes that the position will continue to get better and receive more recognition leaguewide.

This year, the tight ends will work out at Vanderbilt University from June 22-24.

Olsen and Kittle mentioned earlier this week on the “Pardon My Take” podcast that they want to have more tight ends present this year than did in 2021. With that said, there’s a chance that other Dolphins receive the invite, as Durham Smythe, Adam Shaheen, Hunter Long and Cethan Carter could all benefit from working with some of the best in the game at the position.
