The Baltimore Ravens made a tough decision on Wednesday as they released cornerback Tavon Young. The move frees up around $5.8 million in cap space for the Ravens, which should help them be active in the 2022 free agent market.

After the news of his release, Young took to Twitter to send a farewell message, making it clear that there is love from his side of things. The NFL is a business, and sometimes a very unrelenting one. The fact that Young took the time to thank Baltimore shows how much he cherished his time with the organization and in the city.

Injuries were the story of Young’s time with the Ravens, but was one of the best slot cornerbacks in the NFL when he was on the football field. The team will now have the tough task of replacing his production, but there’s no doubt that Young will be missed in Baltimore both on and off of the field.

The Baltimore Ravens have a few different ways to clear up some money and create cap space during the 2022 offseason. There were multiple players who could have been released by the team to free up extra room to work with, and on Wednesday Baltimore made a very tough decision.

It was announced by the franchise that they have released cornerback Tavon Young. The fourth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Temple played in a total of 50 games during his time in the league so far, but it was the injuries that had a major impact on his career in Baltimore. The move will save the Ravens $5.845 million in cap space.

In his career, Young has totaled of 127 tackles, four interceptions, two touchdowns, and two sacks. The Ravens’ organization had high hopes for Young, and they ended up giving end. It appears unlikely that Young will return to Baltimore on a cheaper deal, so he will now hope to make a difference on another team.

The Baltimore Ravens lost to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 17 by the final score of 20-19. It was a heartbreaking defeat once again for the team, as they’ve lost four of their last five games by a combined five points.

During the game, cornerback Marcus Peters was getting involved with his teammates from the sideline, telling them numerous things about the game. When asked about Peters and his presence, Baltimore cornerback Tavon Young talked about what the veteran was telling him and his teammates throughout the course of the contest.

“Yes, ‘MP’ [Marcus Peters] was talking to us. He was coming up to us after every series [and] telling us what he’s seeing, or what they might come and do next series. [He was] just being a teammate.”

Peters made sure that his presence was felt on the sideline, and was there for his teammates in a big way. He loves the game of football, and will do anything to help his team win. Hearing Peters being involved despite being injured is a great sign, and shows how much he cares about the organization he plays for and the teammates that he has.

The Baltimore Ravens have been dealing with a massive amount of injuries since before the 2021 season began. They lost many key contributors during training camp in the preseason, but they’ve also seen countless other players be forced out of action with ailments during the year.

In Baltimore’s Week 15 matchup with the Green Bay Packers, the Ravens saw two of their players leave the game with injuries in offensive lineman Tyre Phillips and cornerback Tavon Young. Both players were ruled out for the remainder of the game, Phillips with a knee injury and Young with a concussion.

Baltimore can’t afford any more injuries, so losing two of their players at positions that are already decimated are brutal developments. However they will march on as they’ve done all season, using the next man up mentality.

Bleacher Report names Ravens’ biggest weakness

Bleacher Report identified the Ravens’ biggest weakness

The Baltimore Ravens have put together a 6-3 record through 10 weeks of the 2021 season despite a brutal amount of injuries. They currently lead the AFC North, and will look to continue playing to their strengths over the remainder of the year.

However, like every team, Baltimore has a few weaknesses that they need to shore up in order to play the best football possible. Brett Sobleski of Bleacher Report identified each NFL team’s biggest weakness, and for the Ravens he chose their passing defense. When explaining his decision, Sobleski mentioned multiple games where Baltimore’s pass defense surrendered far too many yards.

“Baltimore surrendered more than 400 passing yards to Las Vegas and Cincinnati, plus 290 passing yards to a Miami team that has failed to reach 200 five different times this season. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa entered partway through the third quarter and went 8-of-13 for 158 yards.”

Sobleski also mentions the loss of a star cornerback that has potentially contributed to the secondary’s struggles.

“The Ravens cannot expect to rely on late-game heroics and win consistently. That’s going to be a problem, though, against teams that can move the ball through the air. The Ravens lost star cornerback Marcus Peters to a torn ACL before the season and rank 29th in yards per attempt allowed and last in passing yards per game surrendered.”

The Ravens rank in the bottom five of the league in passing yards given up (2,550) and net yards per attempt given up (7.3). Despite having talent such as Marlon Humphrey, Anthony Averett, Chuck Clark and more, the passing defense just hasn’t been able to put it together. Injuries to Peters and DeShon Elliott have had massive impacts, but the team will have to improve in that area if they want to make a deep playoff run.

Ravens release final injury report for Week 11 matchup vs. Bears

The Ravens released their final injury report ahead of their Week 11 matchup with the Bears

The Baltimore Ravens are set to take on the Chicago Bears in Week 11 of the 2021 season. Baltimore is coming off of a disappointing 22-10 defeat to the Miami Dolphins in Week 10 which dropped their record to 6-3. However, they still hold the top spot in the AFC North.

The Ravens have dealt with a massive amount of injuries over the course of the 2021 season. Friday’s final injury report before Week 11 shows just that, as Baltimore had a whopping 17 players on the list, including some very high profile names such as quarterback Lamar Jackson, as well as wide receivers Marquise Brown and Rashod Bateman.

The injury report looks like a laundry list. However, it does point out that Jackson, Bateman, center Bradley Bozeman and tight end Nick Boyle were all full participants in practice, which bode very well for their availability on Sunday.

Limited participants included running back Latavius Murray, Brown, offensive lineman Patrick Mekari as well as cornerbacks Tavon Young and Jimmy Smith. Each of those players would give the Ravens a very big boost if they are able to play, and would be big losses if they couldn’t.

Cornerback Anthony Averett popped up on the injury report for the first time on Friday, as he did not participate in practice. It would be a crushing blow if Averett is unable to go in Chicago, as the Baltimore secondary is already extremely thin.

The Ravens ruled out wide receiver Miles Boykin, defensive lineman Brandon Williams and outside linebacker Pernell McPhee. Defensive lineman Calais Campbell had a rest day on Friday.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh gives injury update on CB Tavon Young

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh gave an update on the status of cornerback Tavon Young

The Baltimore Ravens have dealt with a massive amount of injuries over the course of the 2021 season. It has been a big storyline for them as the year has gone on, as they’ve continued to lose players for a week, multiple weeks, or even months.

On Monday, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh gave a brief update on cornerback Tavon Young, who left the Ravens’ Week 10 loss to the Miami Dolphins with an injury. Harbaugh said that it doesn’t look severe, and the cornerback will have a chance to play in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears.

“It doesn’t look real severe. He’ll have a chance to play this week. That was fortunate for us.”

Young has had a phenomenal season for the Ravens, looking sharp and confident after missing most of the 2020 season with a torn ACL. He has been one of Baltimore’s better tacklers, and has made numerous plays in coverage. If Young is unable to go, the team would have to find a way to replace him, which could involve moving Marlon Humphrey inside or even trying out undrafted rookie free agent Ar’Darius Washington in the slot.

Hopefully Young will be able to play in Week 11, as it’d be a big loss if he can’t. The Ravens have already lost cornerback Marcus Peters and safety DeShon Elliott for the season, so having Young out would stretch an already depleted Baltimore secondary even thinner.

Ravens CB Tavon Young leaves game in Week 10 vs. Dolphins with foot injury

Ravens cornerback Tavon Young left Baltimore’s Week 10 matchup with the Dolphins with a foot injury

The Baltimore Ravens have dealt with a crushing amount of injuries over the course of the 2021 season. Whether they lost players before the year or during it, they have been a resilient bunch on the way to a 6-2 record through nine weeks.

In their Week 10 matchup against the Miami Dolphins, Baltimore announced that cornerback Tavon Young left the game with a foot injury. In the announcement, the team mentioned that he is questionable to return to the contest.

Young has played great football for the Ravens in 2021, so any amount of time that he misses is a huge blow to a defense that is also missing Marcus Peters and DeShon Elliott. If he’s unable to return to the contest, Baltimore will have to use the “next man up” mentality once again.

Ravens release final injury report for Week 10 matchup vs. Dolphins

The Ravens released their final injury report on Wednesday ahead of a Thursday night matchup with the Dolphins

The Baltimore Ravens are currently 6-2 and atop the AFC North as they travel to Hard Rock Stadium to take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 10 of the 2021 season. The last time these teams met was two seasons ago, when the Ravens won 59-10 with quarterback Lamar Jackson throwing for five touchdowns.

On Wednesday, the Ravens released their final injury report of the week. The practice was a walk-through, so the injury report is a practice estimation.

Tight end Nick Boyle (knee), who could make his season debut on Thursday, was limited in practice and is questionable. Defensive tackle Brandon Williams (shoulder) did not participate in practice and is also listed as questionable.

Wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh), wide receiver Marquise Brown (back) and cornerback Tavon Young (knee) were full participants. Brown and Young don’t have an injury status ahead of the contest, while Watkins is listed as questionable.

Closing out the report is running back Latavius Murray (ankle) and offensive lineman Patrick Mekari (ankle) who did not participate. Both are doubtful after missing a full week’s worth of practice.
