Ravens OLB Tavius Robinson hungry to grow and be the best he can be at football

Ravens Tavius Robinson talks about what he improved at the end of college and what he needs to improve on moving forward

Baltimore Ravens’ fourth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Ole Miss outside linebacker Tavius Robinson, is considered to have lots of room to grow, but super athletic and versatile. Robinson showed off his potential during his three years at Ole Miss, and will be learning from one of the best in new outside linebackers coach Chuck Smith.

Robinson was asked where he improved the most towards the end of his college career and where he thinks he needs to improve the most. He mentioned how the game began to slow down for him, and how he feels he has so much room to grow and is like a sponge when it comes to learning.

“I think the most, I just improved at the … The game started to slow down for me. The more I learned from my coaches, the better I got, and the more confident I felt out there. I became a better power rusher this year, better at stopping the run. I just feel like I still have so much more room to grow, and I’m a sponge; I like to be coached, and I’d like to become as best as I can at this game. So, I think there’s a lot of room to grow, for sure.”

Ravens OLB Tavius Robinson shares unique story on how he ended up at Ole Miss

Ravens outside linebacker Tavius Robinson explains how he ended up at Ole Miss

The Baltimore Ravens drafted outside linebacker Tavius Robinson in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.  Robinson is from Canada, and when COVID-19 struck the world, he had to make adjustments to his career plans.

Robinson was asked how he landed at Ole Miss after having aspirations of playing in the CFL, and shared his unique story. He said that he ended up sending his tape “everywhere”, and that Ole Miss was one of his first SEC offers. He chose them, and now is realizing another incredible opportunity of playing in the NFL.

“I played two years of university football up here in Canada, and then when Covid happened, everything got shut down here. Football got canceled. At that point, I was sending out my tape everywhere, trying to get a school in the States. Then, Ole Miss was one of my first SEC offers, so that’s how I ended up at Ole Miss. Then, I had three years there, and now I’m here.”

WATCH: Tavius Robinson’s best highlights from Ole Miss

Robinson was an impact player on Ole Miss’ defense last year and should fit in well with the Ravens in 2023

Tavius Robinson was among Ole Miss’ most productive players last season, and enters his career with the Baltimore Ravens as a fourth-round pick in their 2023 draft class. Robinson might not have showed enough to be drafted on the first or second day of the annual selection meeting, but his talent is undeniable.

After sorting out their issues on offense on Day 1, the Ravens seemed to favor the defensive side of the ball last night, and stayed on that same course today. Check out Robinson’s best college highlights below to get more familiar with his skillset ahead of the 2023 season:

Breaking down Dane Brugler’s 7-round mock draft for the Colts

Here’s who Dane Brugler had projected for the Colts.

With just over a week until the 2023 NFL draft, the mock drafts will be out in full force as analysts try to project what the Indianapolis Colts and the rest of the league will do.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic dropped a seven-round mock draft Monday and while there were no trades involved at any level, he had the Colts hitting several areas of need.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the mock draft from the Colts’ perspective:

49ers 2023 prospect watch: DL Tavius Robinson looks like he was built in a lab

The #49ers are good at defensive line projects with high upside. That’s why DL Tavius Robinson could be a target of theirs in the NFL draft.

The 49ers the last few years have been successful in the business of maximizing the talents of defensive lineman. Players like Kerry Hyder, Arden Key and Charles Omenihu all saw success in San Francisco after hanging around in relative obscurity through the early portions of their careers. Ole Miss defensive lineman Tavius Robinson is a prospect the 49ers could target in this year’s draft with the hopes of putting his career on an upward trajectory right away. Robinson met with San Francisco ahead of the draft per the Draft Network’s Justin Melo.

Robinson is a fascinating player who needs plenty of polish to maximize his unbelievable physical traits. He measures in at 6-6, 257 pounds with nearly 34-inch arms. It’s easy to see how he’d fit on a 49ers defensive line that values edge players who can kick down and rush from the interior on passing downs.

He didn’t put up huge numbers at Ole Miss, with 10.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss in 32 games as a transfer from Guelph University in Ontario.

While the productivity hasn’t been there and he lacks some of the explosiveness ideal for an edge rusher, there are a ton of physical tools in his belt that could make a teams optimistic about his future as a productive defensive lineman.

For the 49ers in particular, this has been their specialty. They’ve bet on traits with veterans who disappointed early in their careers. Now with a late-round pick they could bet on traits with a rookie in hopes of maximizing his talents over a four-year rookie contract instead of a one-year free agent deal.

Giants met with Ole Miss DL Tavius Robinson

The New York Giants held a meeting with Ole Miss defensive lineman Tavius Robinson ahead of the 2023 NFL draft.

With time winding down, the New York Giants and general manager Joe Schoen are cramming in as many pre-2023 NFL draft meetings as possible.

Most recently, the team met with Ole Miss defensive lineman Tavius Robinson.

“I’ve had a few Zoom meetings. A few coaches have taken me out to dinner as well. The Bengals came out here. I met with the Giants, Texans, Jets, and 49ers as well,” Robinson told The Draft Network.

Robinson is a projected late-round pick or possible priority undrafted free agent. However things shake out, he promises to reward whatever team takes a chance on him.

“Whichever team drafts me is getting a disruptive player. I’m going to do everything I can to help us win games. I want to help win a Super Bowl. That’s how I plan to impact my new team,” he said.

NFL Network draft analyst Lance Zierlein sees the potential in Robinson and gives him a pro comparison of Rasheem Green.

Ascending, even-front defensive end prospect with outstanding traits and projectable upside. Robinson plays with good aggression and heavy hands as both a run defender and pass rusher. He has the agility and foot quickness to beat blockers whether chasing the run or rushing the passer. Robinson attacks the pocket with a game plan and a variety of moves at his disposal. He needs to grow into his frame to improve against the run, but Robinson should become a rotational defender and has future-starter potential.

Robinson’s stock continues to rise as the draft nears and he could very well sneak into the later rounds. With several Day 3 picks, it’s no surprise the Giants are keeping an eye on him.

Bengals met with Ole Miss DL Tavius Robinson before NFL draft

Another name to watch for the Bengals on draft day.

Add Ole Miss’ Tavius Robinson to the pile of names the Cincinnati Bengals have put some work in with on the path to the 2023 NFL draft.

According to Justin Melo of the Draft Network, the Bengals are one of a handful of teams to work with Robinson before the big day.

A 6’6″, 257-pound lineman with six sacks last year, Robinson has played multiple spots and is projected as a mid-round pick with notable upside.

In Cincinnati, like most any rookie not selected in the first two rounds, Robinson would play a rotational role for the Bengals during his first season while presumably adding mass and potentially developing into an every-down player.

The resume, program, versatility and upside-traits are what the Bengals like with rookie defenders, though, so he’s certainly a name to remember on draft day.
