The on-field drills at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine are in the books, but determining how much they matter is a challenging exercise.

While there’s obvious value in seeing exactly how athletic prospects are (otherwise, why do the drills), it’s also a little silly to let anything other than game tape determine how players stack up.

With that in mind, it doesn’t quite feel right to make many changes to the first-round mock draft published last week.

Instead, here’s a Jacksonville Jaguars-centric mock draft with a guess at nine players the team could target with their selections in the 2023 NFL Draft:

Utah running back Tavion Thomas has declared for the 2023 NFL draft, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

The 6-2, 238-pound junior suffered a toe injury in his last game, and has decided to focus on preparing for the next level.

Thomas carried the ball 142 times this season for 687 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging nearly five yards per carry. He earned first-team all-conference honors in 2021, when he led Utah with 1,108 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground.

5 Utes the Ducks need to watch out for in Saturday night showdown

There are five Utes Utes the Ducks need to hold down in order to avoid a two-game losing streak.

There were just two “utes” in the movie My Cousin Vinny, but on Saturday night inside Autzen Stadium, there are five Utes Oregon needs to pay close attention to in order to avoid a second straight loss.

Utah is 8-2 on the season with road losses to Florida and UCLA. Luckily for the Ducks, this matchup will occur at Autzen Stadium and not Rice-Eccles in Salt Lake City where the forecast calls for a high of 37 and a low of 17.

The Utes are coming off of a 42-7 win over Stanford and the Ducks are going to try and make sure the Huskies don’t beat them twice. Unfortunately, the Utes actually did beat Orgon twice last season and that should be on the minds of some of the players that suffered those defeats.

In order to exact some revenge, Oregon will need to concentrate on these five opponents and limit their damage.

When we look at individual positions in the game of football, it is always the quarterbacks that come up first. After that, though, it’s hard to look past the players who line up next to them toting the rock.

While we’ve looked at where the QBs in the Pac-12 rank going into the season based on career production, we wanted to do so with the next position group in line, running back.

This is where a disclaimer needs to be made, though. In this ranking, we use career production — what the players have done in the past. For fans of the Oregon Ducks, it may be a humbling list. While Byron Cardwell, Sean Dollars and Noah Whittington may be a tantalizing backfield and could finish as one of the best in the conference, it’s hard to rank any of them among the top 10 players based on past production.

So with a small eye on the future but a strong emphasis on the past, here are our rankings of the 10 best running backs in the Pac-12 for the 2022 season:
