Michigan State football: 2023 PWO Kicker Tarik Ahmetbasic commits to the Spartans

2023 Kicker Tarik Ahmetbasic commits to the Spartans as PWO

A position of strength under Mark Dantonio has been a position of weakness for the Spartans under Mel Tucker. Michigan State football struggled heavily in the kicking department last season, and Tucker and his staff are using multiple avenues to fill that hole on the roster.

On Wednesday, 2023 kicker Tarik Ahmetbasic announced that he will be joining the Spartans as a preferred walk-on (PWO).

Ahmetbasic currently plays for Chippewa Valley in Clinton Township. This is the second PWO commit this week (Cooper Terpstra was the other) for the Spartans and both players were previously committed to Grand Valley State University before deciding to bet on themselves and join the Spartans and try to earn a scholarship later on.

Michigan State football extends PWO offer to kicker who is committed to Grand Valley State

This week, the Spartans offered one kicking prospect in Emilio Duran, and now they have offered a second in Tarik Ahmetbasic, another 4.5-kicker out of Clinton Township, currently playing with Chippewa Valley.

Ahmetbasic had committed to Grand Valley State back in August, but seems to be considering a move to a bigger school where he can earn a scholarship down the road. He was also offered by Miami of Ohio this week.
