MSU Football names players of the game from win vs. Maryland

Michigan State football has named its players of the game from its victory over Maryland

Michigan State got strong performances from numerous players in Saturday’s win at Maryland, but only a few are able to be named players of the game.

Head coach Jonathan Smith announced his four players of the game from the Spartans’ victory at Maryland on Saturday. The win pushed Michigan State to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.

Here’s a breakdown of the players of the game for the Spartans:

  • Cornerback Charles Brantley was the Defensive Player of the Game
  • Wide receiver Nick Marsh was the Offensive Player of the Game
  • Kick Jonathan Kim was the Special Teams Player of the Game
  • Center Tanner Miller was the Lineman of the Game

Michigan State football returns home this week for its next non-conference matchup against FCS foe Prairie View A&M. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

Michigan State football center left off Rimington Trophy watch list

The disrespect continues. A day after Michigan State football quarterback Aidan Chiles was left off the Davey O’Brien Trophy watchlist, their star center, Tanner Miller, was also left off the Rimington Trophy watch list, which is given to the nation’s top center.

This was a bit surprising, as Miller was an All-American last year (ESPN) and first-team All-Pac-12.

MSU Football boasts PFF’s ‘highest graded’ returning IOL in Big Ten

In the eyes of Pro Football Focus, Michigan State will have the top returning interior offensive lineman in the Big Ten next year

In the eyes of Pro Football Focus, Michigan State will have the top returning interior offensive lineman in the Big Ten next year.

PFF released a list of their top 10 returning interior offensive linemen and a Spartan was at the top. Oregon State transfer Tanner Miller is ranked as the No. 1 returning interior offensive lineman in the Big Ten. His PFF score is 73.5 which just edges out Spencer Holstege of UCLA.

Michigan State football adds Oregon State transfer OL Tanner Miller

Michigan State football lands a huge transfer commitment for their offensive line

Have a day, Michigan State football fans! On Sunday, the Spartans first picked up transfer quarterback Tommy Schuster from North Dakota to shore up their quarterback room with an elite backup, then, shortly after, they landed Oregon State transfer offensive lineman Tanner Miller from Oregon State.

This is a huge pick-up for MSU. Tanner Miller, who can play both guard and center, was an ESPN All-American and a Pac-12 Second Team mmber. He was also an AP Midseason Second Team All-American.

Michigan State was able to fend off big names like Florida State to land the talented lineman in one of their biggest moves of the offseason.
