The Tampa Bay Rays (51-51) and Toronto Blue Jays (46-55) wrap up a 3-game set Thursday. First pitch from Rogers Centre is scheduled for 3:07 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rays vs. Blue Jays odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Rays lead 5-4

The Rays fell 6-3 against the Blue Jays Wednesday as -116 road favorites. LF Randy Arozarena led Tampa Bay with 2 hits, including a lead-off double in the 5th inning and a game-tying RBI single in the 6th.

Toronto got back in the win column with Wednesday’s victory as a +107 home underdog. DH Justin Turner hit a go-ahead single in the 8th inning, and 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a solo shot in the 3rd, his 5th HR in 6 games.

Rays at Blue Jays projected starters

RHP Taj Bradley vs. RHP Chris Bassitt

Bradley (5-4, 2.63 ERA) makes his 14th start. He has a 1.05 WHIP, 3.11 BB/9 and 10.75 K/9 through 75 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 5 K in 9-1 win at New York Yankees Saturday
  • Career vs. Blue Jays: 0-2, 8.31 ERA (13 IP, 12 ER), 1.69 WHIP, 8.3 K/9 in 4 appearances (2 starts) in 2023

Bassitt (8-8, 3.71 ERA) makes his 21st start. He has a 1.42 WHIP, 3.63 BB/9 and 8.37 K/9 through 114 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 2/3 IP, 5 ER, 7 H, 1 BB, 6 K in 5-4 home setback against Detroit Tigers Friday

Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Tampa Bay Rays (51-50) and Toronto Blue Jays (45-55) play the middle contest of a 3-game set on Wednesday. First pitch from Rogers Centre is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Rays vs. Blue Jays odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Rays lead 5-3

The Rays opened the road series with a 4-2 victory as slight underdogs (+116) with the Under (8.5) cashing Tuesday.

Tampa Bay has won 5 of the first 8 meetings vs. Toronto this season, with the Under cashing in 3 of the previous 4 battles. The underdog has cashed in 3 of the previous 4 meetings, too.

Tampa Bay has won 3 of its past 4 games, all as an underdog. The Over is also 3-1 in the past 4 outings.

The Blue Jays are just 2-5 in the past 7 contests. While the Under cashed in Tuesday’s contest, the Over is still 8-1 in the past 9 games for Toronto.

Rays at Blue Jays projected starters

RHP Zach Eflin vs. RHP Yariel Rodriguez

Eflin (5-7, 4.14 ERA) makes his 19th start. He has a 1.17 WHIP, 1.1 BB/9 and 7.2 K/9 in 104 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 4 ER (5 R), 7 H, 4 BB, 5 K in 6-1 setback at New York Yankees Friday
  • 2024 road splits: 2-5, 5.52 ERA (60 1/3 IP, 37 ER), 1.33 WHIP, .286 opponents’ batting average, 9 BB, 50 K in 11 starts
  • 2024 vs. Blue Jays: 0-1, 7.71 ERA (11 2/3 IP, 10 ER), 3 HR, .306 OBA, 1 BB, 8 K in 2 starts
  • Career vs. Blue Jays: 2-3, 6.35 ERA (34 IP, 24 ER), 1.56 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 in 6 starts and 1 relief appearance

Rodriguez (1-3, 3.78 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 1.38 WHIP, 4.9 BB/9 and 9.7 K/9 in 33 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 7 K in 5-4 loss at Arizona Diamondbacks July 12
  • 2024 home splits: 0-1, 2.57 ERA (14 IP, 4 ER), 1.36 WHIP, .235 OBA, 7 BB, 13 K in 3 starts
  • Has never faced the Rays

  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Rays -1.5 (+130) | Blue Jays +1.5 (-156)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 8.5 (O: -102 | U: -120)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Rays at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Jays 5, Rays 3

Moneyline

The BLUE JAYS (+104) are worth a look as slight underdogs as they look to bounce back from Tuesday’s 4-2 loss.

Toronto is just 2-5 in the past 7 games, but Eflin has struggled with a 5.52 ERA on the road this season, while posting a dismal 6.35 ERA in his career against the Jays.

BACK TORONTO (+104), but play it lightly.

Run line/Against the spread

The Blue Jays +1.5 (-156) aren’t priced out of line if you’d like a little bit of insurance, and you’re not willing to back Toronto straight up.

The Rays have won 3 of the past 4 games, and each of their past 5 wins since July 12 are by 2 or more runs. Tampa Bay looks mighty attractive, but Eflin has been a disaster on the road.

Just don’t bet more than 1½ units between the Blue Jays ML (+104) and their RL (-156).

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (-120) is the lean, but stick with a half-unit play at best.

The Under is a risky play in Toronto games, as the Over had cashed in 8 consecutive games until Tuesday’s series opener.

Tuesday’s Under also snapped a Rays 3-0 Over run. However, the Under is 5-3 across their last 8 games.

Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Tampa Bay Rays (23-22) and Toronto Blue Jays (19-23) open a 3-game series at Rogers Centre on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET (Apple TV+). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Rays vs. Blue Jays odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 2-2

After a slow start, the Rays have picked up the pace with 9 wins in the past 13 outings, including 3 of 4 victories in a series win at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox Monday through Thursday. The Under is 3-1 in the past 4 games, and 6-3 across the past 9 outings.

The Blue Jays were on the short end of a 3-2 score against the Baltimore Orioles, as Toronto ended up splitting a 2-game set, as Tuesday’s game was postponed due to weather. The Under is 3-0 in the past 3 games for the Jays, and 5-1 in the past 6 outings.

Rays at Blue Jays projected starters

LHP Tyler Alexander vs. RHP Chris Bassitt

Alexander (1-2, 5.45 ERA) makes his 6th start and 9th appearance. He has a 1.36 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 in 39 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 7 IP, 6 ER, 7 H (3 HR), 2 BB, 3 K in 10-6 home loss vs. New York Yankees last Sunday
  • Last road start: Loss, 4 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 3 K in 8-2 loss vs. Milwaukee Brewers on April 30

Bassitt (3-5, 5.06 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 1.55 WHIP, 4.2 BB/9 and 8.4 K/9 in 42 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 K in 5-3 road win vs. Philadelphia Phillies on May 8
  • Last home start: Loss, 6 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 6-1 loss vs. Kansas City Royals on May 1
  • 2024 vs. Rays: Loss, 5 IP, 5 R (4 ER), 6 H (1 HR), 2 BB, 6 K in 8-2 road loss on March 29

  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Rays +1.5 (-152) | Blue Jays -1.5 (+126)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 8.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Rays at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Jays 5, Rays 4

Moneyline

The BLUE JAYS (-178) are a little on the expensive side, but worth a look in what should be a close game.

Bassitt will look to hound the Rays (+150), who turn to the southpaw Alexander to get the job done.

Toronto has alternated loss and wins across the past 7 losses, including a 3-2 loss at Baltimore last time out on Wednesday.

Run line/Against the spread

If you’re a little more on the conservative side, the RAYS +1.5 (-152) are moderately priced if you’d like a little insurance.

Obviously, you cannot play the Blue Jays straight up, and Rays on the run line. This should be a close game, though. I actually like Tampa Bay catching the run and a half more than I like Toronto straight up.

Over/Under

OVER 8.5 (-105) is worth a look in this series opener, but go lightly.

While the Under has been on a 5-1 roll for the Blue Jays lately, the Over is 3-1 in the past 4 encounters against the Rays.

The Over-Under has split at a 5-5-1 mark in the past 11 road outings for the Rays, while the Under is 6-2 in the past 8 home outings for the Blue Jays.

While Bassitt and Alexander have been giving, go lightly on the Over, playing a half-unit at most.

Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Tampa Bay Rays (97-62) and the Toronto Blue Jays (88-71) open a 3-game series Friday at Rogers Centre. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rays vs. Blue Jays odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: tied 5-5

The Rays head into the final regular-season series locked into the top Wild Card in the American League. Tampa Bay has won 3 of the past 4 games overall, and it has the chance at 100 regular-season wins if it can sweep this final 3-game set. The franchise record was 100 regular-season wins set in 2021.

The Blue Jays are in a precarious position. Toronto sits a game ahead of the Houston Astros for the 2nd AL Wild card, but it is also just 2 games clear of the Seattle Mariners. Those 3 teams are fighting for 2 playoff berths and one team will be left out in the cold.

Toronto picked up a 6-0 victory against the eliminated New York Yankees Thursday behind RHP Chris Bassitt after being blanked in the first 2 games of its series. The Under cashed in all 3 games in the set.

Rays at Blue Jays projected starters

RHP Aaron Civale vs. LHP Yusei Kikuchi

Civale (7-4, 3.43 ERA) makes his 23rd start. He has a 1.14 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 8.4 K/9 in 120 2/3 innings with the Rays and Cleveland Guardians.

  • Last start: Loss, 3 IP, 6 ER, 7 H, 0 BB, 7 K in 8-3 home loss vs. the Los Angeles Angels Sept. 20
  • 2023 road splits: 4-2, 2.31 ERA (58 1/3 IP, 15 ER), 6 HR, .236 OBA in 11 starts
  • Got a couple of extra days of rest since his last start as he was battling an illness

Kikuchi (10-6, 3.82 ERA) makes his 32nd start. He has a 1.27 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and 9.8 K/9 in 162 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 IP, 3 ER, 9 H, 0 BB, 7 K in 9-5 road win vs. the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday
  • 2023 home splits: 5-3, 3.87 ERA (74 1/3 IP, 32 ER), 13 HR, .222 OBA in 14 starts
  • 2023 vs. Tampa Bay: 1-1, 5.40 ERA, 15 IP, 9 ER, 3 HR, 3 BB, 21 K in 15 IP in 3 starts

  • Over/Under (O/U): 7.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Rays at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Rays 4, Blue Jays 3

Moneyline

The RAYS (+125) are worth playing as short ‘dogs in the series opener, as Civale works his strength back up from an illness.

The Blue Jays haven’t gotten good production out of the southpaw Kikuchi at home this season and he has struggled mightily against the Rays. Look for that trend to continue Friday.

Run line/Against the spread

The RAYS +1.5 (-160) aren’t priced out of line if you don’t want to bet Tampa Bay straight up, and would prefer a little bit of insurance instead.

Tampa Bay is 10-1 on the run line as an underdog in the past 11 outings, including outright victories in 5 of those games.

Over/Under

The UNDER 7.5 (-105) is the lean, but go lightly in this series opener.

Tampa Bay had cashed the Over in 7 straight games until an Under result last time out on Wednesday.

The Over has also cashed in 8 consecutive meetings between these clubs, so be very careful. However, the Jays have cashed 3 straight Unders while averaging just 2.0 runs per game (RPG).

Season series: Blue Jays lead 2-0

The Blue Jays won 5-2 as -120 home favorites vs. the Rays Saturday. Toronto has beaten the Rays by multiple runs in back-to-back games.

The Rays closed as +111 underdogs Saturday. 2B Taylor Walls homered in the top of the 4th inning for the Rays, who have lost back-to-back games after starting the season 13-0.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Rays at Blue Jays projected starters

LHP Shane McClanahan vs. RHP Alek Manoah

McClanahan (3-0, 1.59 ERA) makes his 4th start. He has a 1.18 WHIP, 4.8 BB/9 and 11.1 K/9 through 17 IP.

  • Won Tuesday vs. the Boston Red Sox: 1 ER on 2 H and 4 BB with 9 K in 5 IP
  • 6 career starts vs. Toronto: 2-2 with a 2.87 ERA (31 1/3 IP, 10 ER)

Rays at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Rays 4, Blue Jays 3

Moneyline

BET TAMPA BAY (-125).

It is unlikely that the Rays would get swept in a 3-game series immediately after a historic 13-game win streak to start the season. McClanahan has been dominant this year and the Blue Jays are just 1-5 in their last 6 home games vs. left-handed starters. Look for Toronto’s offense to regress toward the mean Sunday and for Tampa Bay to avoid the sweep.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

The Blue Jays have won 5 of their last 6 games and should be able to keep this one close. Toronto +1.5 (-160) should hit, but there is no need to pay the higher price on the run line when the Tampa Bay moneyline is the better play. Bet Rays moneyline and/or the total instead.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8.5 (-115).

The Under is 4-0 in Tampa Bay’s last 4 games after a loss and 6-0-1 in its last 7 vs. teams with a winning record.

The Under has gone 3-0-1 in Toronto’s last 4 games and should cash again Sunday with McClanahan and Manoah on the mound.

Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tampa Bay Rays (13-1) look to rebound against the Toronto Blue Jays (9-5) in the 2nd of a 3-game set at Rogers Centre Saturday. First pitch is at 3:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rays vs. Blue Jays odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Blue Jays lead 1-0.

The Rays were dealt their 1st loss of the season Friday, falling to the Jays 6-3 to end their bid for MLB’s post-1900 record for consecutive wins to open a season. Tampa gave up 4 runs in the 5th inning and chipped away but couldn’t overcome the deficit. RHP Yonny Chirinos gave the Rays 3 2/3 IP in relief, and they’ll have a rested bullpen Saturday.

Blue Jays SS Bo Bichette had a night to remember, going 5-for-5 with an RBI. He’s now hitting .391 and has hit safely in 11 of 13 games. Closer RHP Jordan Romano only needed 9 pitches to shut down the 9th inning Friday and should be ready again Saturday.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Rays at Blue Jays projected starters

RHP Calvin Faucher vs. LHP Yusei Kikuchi

Faucher (0-0, 4.50 ERA) makes his 1st start and 5th appearance. He has a 1.33 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 8.5 K/9 in 6 IP.

  • Will serve as the opener; has topped out at 2 IP and 33 pitches this season
  • Features a 95-mph fastball, a slider and a curve; has struck out Blue Jays 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. both times he faced him

Kikuchi (1-0, 6.75 ERA) makes his 3rd start. He has a 1.50 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9 and 7.7 K/9 in 9 1/3 IP.

  • Had a rough outing last time out, allowing 6 ER on 9 H and 1 BB in 4 1/3 IP to the Los Angeles Angels
  • Has been great against Tampa in 4 career starts: 3-0, 1.96 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 24 K’s in 23 IP

  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Rays -1.5 (+150) | Blue Jays +1.5 (-185)

Rays at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Jays 5, Rays 4

Moneyline

After such a long winning streak, Tampa could opt to rest a regular or 2 to reset on Saturday. They’re hitting .312 against lefties this year, and I expect them to keep it close.

However, I’ll LEAN BLUE JAYS (-115) because of Kikuchi’s success against Tampa and the likelihood of a bullpen game for the Rays. Toronto is 8-2 in its last 10 games and has won 3 in a row against Tampa Bay dating back to last year.

Run line/Against the spread

I’m going to PASS at both run lines Saturday and look to the total.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

There is some traction for the Over, as it’s 4-1-1 in the last 6 between the clubs. However, I’m looking for a strong start from Kikuchi, and Tampa’s ‘pen is rested to take the ball Saturday. The Under is 5-0-1 in the Rays’ last 6 against teams with a winning record. The last 3 between these teams and 7 of the last 10 went below this number.

.Take the UNDER 10 (-115).

Rays at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Rays 6, Blue Jays 5

Moneyline

BET RAYS (-125).

The Rays are undefeated this season and have looked a lot better than the Blue Jays have in their last 2 games. Toronto trailed in all 3 games vs. Detroit and should struggle to keep pace with the Rays who are on a historic win streak. Tampa Bay has the clear pitching advantage with Rasmussen on the mound and should be able to win its 14th straight game to start the season.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

Toronto +1.5 (-150) should hit, but there is no need to pay the higher price on the run line when Rays moneyline is the better play. Bet Rays moneyline and/or the total instead.

Over/Under

BET OVER 9 (-115).

The Over is 8-1-1 in Tampa Bay’s last 10 games and 6-1-1 in its last 8 vs. right-handed starters.

The Over has hit in 4 of the last 5 meetings between these teams and should cash again Friday with Berríos on the mound.

Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Rays (79-63) face the Toronto Blue Jays (81-62) Thursday in the finale of a 5-game set at Rogers Centre. First pitch is set for 3:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rays vs. Blue Jays odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 7-7

Tampa has lost 3 of the first 4 contests of this extended 5-game series and has lost 5 of 6 overall. They should receive a jolt with the return of their ace LHP Shane McClanahan Thursday. The Rays still sit in the final AL wild-card spot and have a 4-game lead over the Baltimore Orioles.

Toronto sits 1 1/2 games ahead of Seattle in the first wild-card spot. The Jays are 7-3 and 20-10 over the last 10 and 30 games, respectively. 2B Bo Bichette is having a month to remember, hitting .483 with 7 homers and 22 RBIs in 60 September ABs.

Rays at Blue Jays projected starters

LHP Shane McClanahan vs. RHP Kevin Gausman

McClanahan (11-5, 2.20 ERA) makes his 25th start. He has a 0.86 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9 and 11.1 K/9 in 147 1/3 IP.

  • First start since Aug. 30 due to a shoulder impingement
  • Had a 2.84 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 8.5 K/9 in 25 1/3 IP in August

Gausman (12-9, 3.31 ERA) makes his 28th start. He has a 1.25 WHIP, 1.4 BB/9 and 10.6 K/9 in 152 1/3 IP.

  • Last 4 starts: 5.09 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 11.7 K/9
  • 3 starts vs. Tampa this season: 17 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 21 K

Rays at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Jays 4, Rays 3

Money line

The Blue Jays are too hot to pick against, but I do think McClanahan comes back and is effective. Gausman has given up at least 2 runs in 4 straight starts and 5 of 6.

The RAYS FIRST 5 INNINGS +0.5 (-130) has some value in case there’s a tie at the end of 5.

Run line/Against the spread

I like the Rays’ ML here, but -175 is a bit out of my price range. These starters should strike out a ton of hitters so keep an eye on those prop bets when they pop up closer to first pitch.

I like TAMPA OVER 1.5 TOTAL RUNS FIRST 5 INNINGS (-102).

Over/Under

Both teams are 4-6 O/U over the last 10 games. It’s a chilly, 59-degree day, which may force them to close the roof. The Under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings. I’ll LEAN UNDER 7.5 (-130).

Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Rays (79-62) are set to face the Toronto Blue Jays (80-62) for the third game of a 5-game series Wednesday. First pitch from the Rogers Centre is at 7:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rays vs. Blue Jays odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Rays lead 7-6

The Rays have now lost 4 of their last 5 outings after starting September with 6 wins in their first 7 games. Tampa Bay split a doubleheader with Toronto Tuesday, taking the opener 4-2 and losing the nightcap 7-2. They lost Game 2 despite RHP Yonny Chirinos limiting the Blue Jays to 0 runs in the 4 innings he pitched to begin the game.

The Blue Jays have had a nice September thus far with 10 wins in their 13 games. Toronto has had a 5-game win streak and a 3-game win streak in just the first two weeks of the month.

Rays at Blue Jays projected starters

RHP Drew Rasmussen vs. RHP Ross Stripling

Rasmussen (10-4, 2.57 ERA) makes his 25th start. He has a 1.04 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 8.3 K/9 through 122 2/3 IP.

  • Has recorded a win in 4 of his last 5 starts
  • Aug. 2 vs. Blue Jays: 6 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 BB and 3 K

Stripling (7-4, 3.03 ERA) makes his 21st start and 29th appearance. He has a 1.01 WHIP, 1.5 BB/9 and 7.8 K/9 through 113 IP.

  • Has struck out at least 4 batters in 8 of his last 9 starts
  • July 3 vs. Rays: 4 2/3 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB and 3 K

Rays at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Rays 4, Blue Jays 3

Money line

Many people are likely going to be on the Blue Jays, but RAYS (+100) is where I’m going in this AL East showdown. Tampa Bay’s projected lineup has gone a solid 24-for-75 against Stripling in their careers and Rasmussen has been fantastic recently. The Rays’ righty has allowed more than 2 runs just once in his last 12 starts.

The Rays are also 4-2 against the Blue Jays in their last 6 meetings in Toronto.

Run line/Against the spread

I’ll PASS on the spread in this contest due to the Rays having the -1.5 line despite being the money line underdogs. Considering that I believe Tampa Bay could score a couple of runs against Stripling, I’d be willing to sprinkle a little bit on RAYS -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS (+130) instead of wagering on the full-game spread.

Over/Under

UNDER 7.5 RUNS (-122) is the move in this game with both Rasmussen and Stripling having had success on the mound recently. Besides both pitchers limiting runs from opposing teams in their recent starts, the Rays and Blue Jays have failed to score more than 6 runs in 4 of their last 5 meetings.

The Under is 6-0 in Rasmussen’s last 6 starts when Tampa Bay’s opponent has allowed 2 or fewer runs in their previous game.

Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Rays (78-60) and Toronto Blue Jays (78-61) open a 5-game set Monday at Rogers Centre. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rays vs. Blue Jays odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Rays lead 6-4

The Rays fell 5 1/2 games behind the New York Yankees for the lead in the AL East after a 10-4 loss Sunday at Yankee Stadium. New York outscored Tampa Bay by a combined 20-7 in the final 2 games of the series.

The Rays have 24 games remaining, including 9 vs. Toronto and 6 vs. the AL-leading Houston Astros.

The Blue Jays fell short of a 3-game sweep over the Texas Rangers with a 4-1 loss Sunday at Globe Life Field. Toronto went 0 for 7 with RISP vs. Rangers starter LHP Martín Pérez. Toronto returns home after going 8-2 over a 10-game road trip.

Rays at Blue Jays projected starters

RHP Cooper Criswell vs. RHP José Berríos

Criswell (0-1, 20.25 ERA in 2021) makes his 1st start of the 2022 season. He is 1-0 with a 3.95 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9 and 7.2 K/9 through 27 1/3 IP for the Triple-A Durham Bulls.

  • Second career start in the majors
  • Major league debut: Allowed 3 ER on 6 H and 0 BB with 0 K through 1 1/3 IP in a loss vs. the San Diego Padres Aug. 27, 2021, as a member of the Los Angeles Angels

Berríos (10-5, 5.23 ERA) makes his 28th start. He has a 1.39 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9 and 7.9 K/9 through 146 1/3 IP.

  • Has won 5 of his last 6 decisions
  • Last start: Allowed 3 R (2 ER) on 8 H and 2 BB with 2 K through 6 IP in a win at the Baltimore Orioles last Monday

  • Is 6-1 with a 4.28 ERA through 73 2/3 IP in 13 home starts

Rays at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Jays 6, Rays 3

Money line

Tampa Bay was blown out twice at the Yankees in its last 2 games while Toronto is coming off of an impressive 8-2 road trip. The Rays are temporarily in a slump and the Blue Jays should be able to take advantage.

BET BLUE JAYS (-155).

Run line/Against the spread

The Rays probably would have started LHP Ryan Yarbrough Monday, but he was called on to pitch 5 innings in long relief Sunday. With the addition of Criswell, Tampa Bay’s pitching staff should continue to struggle for the 3rd straight game.

BET BLUE JAYS -1.5 (+130).

Over/Under

While Toronto’s offense should be able to capitalize on Tampa Bay’s pitching situation, it’s hard to predict which Berríos we will see on the mound Monday. It doesn’t help that the total is already set high at 8.5. If it were set at 8 or lower, it may have been worth a play.

PASS.
