Quavo’s incredible tribute to Takeoff led this year’s powerful Grammys ‘In Memoriam’ segment

Wow, this tribute got us a little misty.

One of the most incredible moments at this year’s Grammy Awards was a deeply moving tribute to late Migos member Takeoff performed by Quavo, his former groupmate and uncle.

Quavo performed his song “Without You” that he shared some time after Takeoff’s death last fall. Contemporary worship group Maverick City Music joined Quavo onstage for the performance and added in lyrics from the Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth Furious 7 tearjerker “See You Again.”

For those still in shock over the hip-hop titan’s tragic death, the performance helped illuminate why the Grammys continue to knock it out of the park with the show’s annual In Memoriam segments.

Even if you’re only somewhat familiar with Migos, it’s hard not to get swept up in your emotions over this deeply moving tribute.

Kacey Musgraves also paid homage to late country icon Loretta Lynn during the ceremony in this moving performance of “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”

We also got a beautiful tribute from Mick Fleetwood, Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt for late Fleetwood Mac member Christine McVie. They played Fleetwood Mac’s “Songbird” in McVie’s honor.

Also, don’t worry if you were worried if the In Memoriam segment left out late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. The Grammys honored his life during last year’s ceremony.

LeBron James said he liked Migos in 2010, but NBA fans think he may be lying and it’s hilarious

Migos dropped their first mixtape in 2011.

LeBron James is one of the two best basketball players of all time, and in some ways, it’s hard to process what he’s able to accomplish on the court.

When he is off the floor, however, it’s often surprisingly easy to see exactly what LeBron is doing. Many of us have had friends like LeBron who seem to go out of their way to fib every once in a while.

The four-time NBA Finals MVP once said he predicted Kobe Bryant would score 81 points before the game started. He said he watched The Godfather six times during the 2016 postseason, but couldn’t recall a single quote. He seemed ill-informed about Liverpool during this interview.

Fans noticed another example of LeBron potentially either exaggerating or stretching the truth once more this past weekend:

LeBron honored the late rapper, Takeoff, with his pregame outfit before the Lakers played the Cavs on Sunday. It was a nice tribute to Takeoff, who was killed when he was shot after a private party in Houston.

When asked about the musician during a postgame press conference, LeBron said that he first started listening to the Migos star waaaaaaaaay back in 2010.

Is it possible LeBron is telling the truth about this one? Certainly! It’s also not likely, though, considering Migos didn’t even drop a mixtape until 2011, and their first hit single “Versace” was released in 2013.

LeBron may be a longtime Migos fan, but this seems a bit egregious.

Of course, no one will pull out a lie detector when these things happen. It’s totally harmless, and there is no way to verifiably prove whether or not he is telling the truth or not.

All we can really do is raise a questioning eyebrow when we cast some doubt. That is exactly what fans did after LeBron’s comments on Sunday night.

Deion Sanders forbids Jackson State players from leaving Houston hotel after rapper Takeoff’s killing

Deion Sanders is keeping his Jackson State players in their hotel after rapper Takeoff was killed in Houston

Deion Sanders and his undefeated Jackson State team are heading to Houston for a game Saturday against Texas Southern.

Houston is where Takeoff of the famed rap group Migos was killed during a dispute over a dice game early Tuesday.

Sanders is not taking any chances. He has told his Tigers players they are forbidden from leaving the team hotel.

“Takeoff was murdered in a dice game in Houston — where we’re going,” Sanders said in a team meeting Tuesday. “So, that eliminates all y’all leaving that hotel, ’cause it ain’t happening until I give you further notice.”

Sanders explained his rationale:

“You cannot kick it with the same dudes you kicked it with,” he said. “You cannot associate in the same realms that you associated with. You gon’ have to change if you expect change.

“I’m sad because it always seems like it’s us, but we wanna say we matter, we wanna say we keep it 100, but it’s always us!”

Migos samples LeBron James ‘Taco Tuesday’ video for new track

Migos sampled one of LeBron James’ original Taco Tuesday Instagram videos for a new single they released this week.

In case you’ve ever wondered what would happen if one of LeBron James’ famous Taco Tuesday videos was turned into a song, Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff from Migos have given a realization to that imagination. One day before Cinco de Mayo, the Migos turned one of LeBron’s first Taco Tuesday videos into a hook of its own.

Migos released a new single on Monday, just ahead of Cinco de Mayo, entitled “Taco Tuesday,” that riffs off of a video that LeBron took with his family at the dinner table, involving all of his kids and his wife Savannah. The video already has 230k views on YouTube in less than a day.

LeBron’s former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Kevin Love was also inspired by LeBron’s past Taco Tuesday content to create an Instagram of his mood for the day.

While LeBron will likely celebrate Taco Tuesday and Cinco de Mayo later today, he did announce that Barack Obama will be a guest on the “Graduate Together” program he is helping produce for the Class of 2020.
