Ohio State basketball guard Taison Chatman to miss entire season

Well wishes for a speedy recovery. #GoBucks

Ohio State basketball sophomore guard Taison Chatman will miss the entire 2024-2025 season according to an announcement from an OSU spokesman on Wednesday. Chatmam suffered a torn ACL suring a summer workout, had successful surgery and will use the season to recover.

“I’m incredibly sad for Taison that he’s going to miss the entire year,” head coach Jake Diebler said in a statement. “After a tough start to his collegiate career, he worked his way back and played a role for us at the end of last season. He continued that development this spring and was working out really well. I was looking forward to watching him take the next step this year. But I know he’ll work hard and get back to form as soon as he can.”

Chatman played in 16 games as a freshman last year, scoring 15 points and distributing five assists. We wish him well in his recovery.

BOOM! Ohio State basketball gets commitment from top 50 player

Ohio State lands a commitment from four-star combo guard Taison Chatman. #GoBucks

While the Ohio State football team is preparing to open Big Ten play this week, the Buckeye basketball team got some good news late Tuesday evening. Four-star combo guard Taison Chatman has committed to Chris Holtmann and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Chatman who hails from the state of Minnesota is a top 50 player and the No. 1 player from the land of 10,000 lakes according to 247Sports composite rankings. Ohio State beat out the likes of Kansas, UConn, Xavier, and Baylor to earn the commitment from Chatman.

Chatman’s pledge came shortly after long-time commit George Washington III decided to back away from his commitment to OSU in early September. There was speculation that Bronny James may commit to the Buckeyes after what seemed to be a great visit during the Ohio State vs. Notre Dame game. However, there has been no word from the James camp at this point.

Chatman’s commitment gives Holtmann and the Buckeyes three top-50 players. With four players committed, Ohio State now has the No. 5 ranked class in 2023 and the No. 2 class in the Big Ten behind only Michigan State.
