Two Notre Dame freshmen ruled out for season with shoulder injuries

Tough break for these players.

No injury ever is a good thing, but one on your shoulder in particular prevents you doing almost everything on a football field. That has become the reality for a pair of Notre Dame freshmen on opposite sides of the ball. Those freshmen are safety [autotag]Taebron Bennie-Powell[/autotag] and offensive lineman [autotag]Styles Prescod[/autotag].

Two days before the Irish were set to open their season against Texas A&M, they gave injury updates on those two along with freshman safety [autotag]Tae Johnson[/autotag]. While the prognosis for Johnson’s season is more promising, the same can’t be said for Bennie-Powell and Prescod per this release:

This undoubtedly is a tough break for both players considering they were so close to the season starting. Alas, they’ll have to wait another year to make their college football debuts.

From the Irish’s perspective, while they have enough talent in their secondary, the depth to their offensive line has taken yet another hit. We’ll see how much, if at all, the numerous injuries to that unit become a liability to the team.

Scout’s view: Notre Dame’s newest commitment, 2024 safety Taebron Bennie-Powell

What do you expect from BP?

[autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] added to their 2024 recruiting class as Ohio safety [autotag]Taebron Bennie-Powell[/autotag] committed on Wednesday.

It was a quick turnaround for the 6-foot, 1-inch and 180 player, but after getting the Irish offer less than a week earlier, Bennie-Powell knew where he wanted to go.

The offer list wasn’t impressive and his ranking is the same, as he’s placed as the 865th best player in the country according to the 247Sports composite. Is there a reason for that? There certainly is and after watching his highlight tape from this past season, you can see exactly why.

Find out below what I saw after watching his Bennie-Powell’s junior film below.

Notre Dame football adds 20th commit to 2024 recruiting class

Make that 20 for the Irish in 2024!

Notre Dame has reached the 20-mark for their 2024 recruiting class commitments.  The latest came Wednesday as safety [autotag]Taebron Bennie-Powell[/autotag] of West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West High.  He was a high school teammate of Notre Dame incoming freshman [autotag]Ben Minich[/autotag].

Bennie-Powell stands 6-1 and chose Notre Dame over Duke, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia.  Powell was given a scholarship offer by Notre Dame just last Thursday at their evaluation camp.

Bennie-Powell will play safety this season at Lakota and in the future at Notre Dame.  Last year however he played linebacker because of Minich and Ohio State signee Malik Hartford taking up the two safety spots.

Bennie-Powell is graded as a three-star prospect by all major outlets.  He’s the second safety in Notre Dame’s 2024 recruiting class, joining Kennedy Urlacher of Arizona.

Ohio 2024 athlete sets commitment date after receiving Notre Dame offer

The Irish could be adding to their 2024 recruiting class on Wednesday

Just a few days ago [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] offered a scholarship to 2024 Ohio athlete [autotag]Taebron Bennie-Powell[/autotag] after an impressive performance at an Irish camp.

The Notre Dame coaching staff was familiar with Bennie-Powell, his former teammate [autotag]Ben Minich[/autotag] signed with the Irish during the 2023 recruiting cycle. Put all of that together and the 6-foot, 1-inch and 180 pound athlete is ready to put an end to his recruiting process.

Bennie-Powell announced today that he will be making a commitment this coming Wednesday and it is looking very much like the Irish will add yet another player to their 2024 recruiting class.

Although ranked as an athlete, Bennie-Powell most likely will end up playing safety if he chooses the Irish.

Although Bennie-Powell’s ranking isn’t very high, just the 1197th overall player according to the 247Sports composite, the Notre Dame staff is very high on his potential and he is a take for them.
