So, how do we claim the free Taco Bell tacos that Mookie Betts won us?

Want that free taco that Mookie Betts won by stealing a base in the World Series? We have your guide here.

Mookie Betts won America a free taco on Tuesday night, when he stole a base in the World Series. This is actually the second time he’s done this, because Mookie Betts is a base-stealing hero who loves his country and wants to get us free tacos.

I imagine many of you woke up this morning hankering for that free taco, and are curious about how and when you can get your hands on one.

Well, unfortunately, you’re going to have to be patient.

According to the official rules of the “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” promotion (a name that seems a bit ingenuous considering Taco Bell is just handing these suckers out and not asking you to literally steal them), you will have to wait until a to-be-announced “Redemption Date” to get the taco.

In 2019 for this promotion (thanks Trea Turner for stealing a bag), the redemption date was October 30, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long.

After they announce the date, the way you can claim your taco is to create a free account with either the Taco Bell mobile app or via their website.

You order the taco through there, get credit for the free one, then go and pick it up. (Sadly, the promotion isn’t available for delivery.)

Then, you’re done. You did it.

Here’s how to get free Taco Bell on Tuesday, March 31

This is nice!!

Normally, we do posts on free Taco Bell when the chain does its “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” promotion at the World Series, or the “Steal a Game, Steal a Taco” thing they do for the NBA Finals when a road team wins a contest.

But in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic as we’re all in isolation and quarantine, Taco Bell decided it didn’t need a special event to give out a free taco to customers on Tuesday, March 31.

So as we do with these sorts of promotions, here is how you can get a free taco on Taco Tuesday:

How can I get my free taco?

The fine print tells us it’s available at participating U.S. locations “only for drive-thru redemption,” which of course is a way to help with social distancing. Please note it’s NOT available for delivery.

When can I get my free taco?

The promotion is for during “local store operating hours.”

Is it a Doritos Locos taco once again?

Yup! Specifically, a seasoned beef nacho cheese Doritos Locos taco.

Can I get more than one free taco?

No! It’s one (1) per customer.
