6 Colts whose stock rose in 22-16 win over Cardinals

These Colts rose their stock in the 22-16 win over the Cardinals.

With the Indianapolis Colts (9-6) going into State Farm Stadium and coming out with a 22-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals (10-5), we saw several players increase their stock with the team.

Some of it was due to simply showing out during a game that was destined to be sloppy from the start. Others had to step into a bigger role because of recent COVID-19 issues. Regardless, we saw several players increase their stock on Saturday night.

Here are six Colts whose stock rose from the Week 16 win:

5 studs from Colts’ 22-16 win over Cardinals

Here are five studs from the Colts’ 22-16 win over the Cardinals.

The Indianapolis Colts (8-6) got through a gutsy 22-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals (10-5) on Saturday night at State Farm Stadium.

Though it may not have been the most aesthetic win, especially with several starters out due to COVID-19, the Colts found a way to get it done while coming up with big plays when they needed it most.

Here’s a look at five studs from the Week 16 win over the Cardinals:

WATCH: T.Y. Hilton gets Colts on the board with TD

The Ghost got the Colts on the board with a touchdown!

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton got the team on the board with a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night at State Farm Stadium.

After the defense got a stop and a missed field goal, the offense got it started with a 43-yard run from Jonathan Taylor on the first play of their first drive. Then facing a third-and-goal at the one-yard line, Carson Wentz found Hilton wide open on a crosser.

These Colts are set to be free agents in 2022

Here’s a quick look at the Colts’ unrestricted free agents in 2022.

The Indianapolis Colts are right in the thick of the AFC playoff race as the top wild-card team in the conference with three games remaining in the regular season.

Though their minds are currently on how they can beat the Arizona Cardinals on the road for a Christmas Day game in prime time, we can still take a quick peek at what’s to come this offseason.

With that, here is a quick look at the 24 Colts currently set to become unrestricted free agents during the 2022 offseason:

WATCH: Carson Wentz, T.Y. Hilton connect for huge fourth-down TD

Carson Wentz and T.Y. Hilton connected on a clutch, fourth-down TD to end the first half.

Knowing they were getting the ball back to begin the second half, the Indianapolis Colts had a chance to put together back-to-back scoring drives against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Up 17-14 on the final drive of the first half, Wentz led the Colts on a 75-yard drive that ended with a clutch, fourth-down touchdown pass to wide receiver T.Y. Hilton.

The drive included a clutch, 16-yard scramble on third down by Wentz, a 22-yard reception by Jack Doyle. This score put the Colts up 24-14 at halftime.

Colts’ T.Y. Hilton cleared concussion protocol

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton cleared the concussion protocol.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton cleared the concussion protocol and is expected to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10.

Hilton suffered his concussion against the Tennessee Titans in Week 8 but was unable to make the quick turnaround to play against the New York Jets in Week 9.

Head coach Frank Reich confirmed to the media on Friday that Hilton cleared the protocol, which was expected after logging a full participant during Thursday’s practice.

Hilton has struggled to stay on the field this season. He missed the first five games of the season after undergoing a procedure on his neck following the preseason. Upon his return in Week 6, Hilton suffered a quad injury and missed the Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers. He returned in Week 8 and then suffered the concussion while falling going up for a catch.

The wide receiver room completely belongs to Michael Pittman Jr. but the Colts desperately need a complement WR2 in the offense. Hopefully, Hilton can stay healthy moving forward to give Carson Wentz another weapon.

Colts vs. Jaguars: Initial injury report for Week 10

Here’s a look at the initial injury report for the Colts and Jaguars in Week 10.

The Indianapolis Colts (4-5) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2-6) have released their initial injury reports ahead of the Week 10 matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium.

As it was last week, the Colts have a relatively short injury report—at least compared to the beginning of the season. There are a few big names to monitor throughout the week, regardless.

Here’s the initial injury report for the Colts in Week 10:

*DNP = Did Not Participate — LP = Limited Participant — FP = Full Participant*

Player Injury Wed. (11/10) Thur. (11/11) Fri. (11/12) Status
CB Xavier Rhodes Calf DNP
T Braden Smith Elbow DNP
WR T.Y. Hilton Concussion LP
LB Darius Leonard Ankle LP
G Quenton Nelson Ankle/Toe LP

Notes

  • Both Braden Smith and Xavier Rhodes will have a chance to play this week but will likely need to log at least limited practice by Friday to do so.
  • HC Frank Reich told reporters Wednesday that he’s “fairly optimistic” that Smith plays in Week 10.
  • WR T.Y. Hilton seems to be progressing through the concussion protocol but will still need to continue through the week.
  • CB T.J. Carrie was designated to return but the Colts are still monitoring him to see how he responds.

Here’s a look at the initial injury report for the Jaguars in Week 10 (will be updated):

*DNP = Did Not Participate — LP = Limited Participant — FP = Full Participant*

Colts’ T.Y. Hilton remains in concussion protocol

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton is still in the concussion protocol.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is still in the concussion protocol and hopes to return to practice this week.

Hilton suffered a concussion during the Week 8 loss against the Tennessee Titans. Because of the quick turnaround and now the fact that he’s still in the league’s protocol, Hilton was inactive for the Thursday night game against the New York Jets.

Head coach Frank Reich told the media Monday that Hilton is hoping to return to practice this week but remains in the league’s protocol.

Hilton has spent most of the season dealing with injuries. He underwent a procedure on his neck following the preseason. That kept him out for the first five weeks of the season before returning in Week 6 against the Houston Texans where he led the offense with four receptions for 80 yards.

Then in that game, he suffered a quad injury that kept him out of the Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers. He returned against the Titans in Week 8 but then suffered the concussion.

The passing offense has been running through its new alpha in Michael Pittman Jr., who leads the team in every receiving category. Getting a complement for Pittman Jr. is necessary but it seems Hilton will be a question mark as the Colts prepare for their first matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10.

Colts’ T.Y. Hilton (concussion) won’t play vs. Jets

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton is in the concussion protocol and has been ruled OUT for Thursday’s game against the Jets.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is in the concussion protocol and will not play against the New York Jets on Thursday night at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Hilton suffered the concussion during the second half of the game on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans when he came down hard going for a catch. Head coach Frank Reich ruled him out for the prime-time game against the Jets.

“T.Y. (Hilton) did have the concussion so he will be out for this game,” Reich told the media Monday.

The Colts are thin in the wide receiver room behind Michael Pittman Jr., who leads all Colts wide receivers in targets (65), receptions (45), receiving yards (594) and receiving touchdowns (four).

There might have been a chance for Hilton to play if it was a regular week but given that the Colts have a short turnaround, he doesn’t have a chance to clear protocol.

Hilton has now gotten injured in both of the games he’s played in 2021 after coming back from the injured reserve list. While he’s out this week, he will certainly be monitored to potentially return after the extra rest going into Week 10.

The Colts also lost defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis on Sunday as he will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

Colts’ T.Y. Hilton being evaluated for concussion

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton is being evaluated for a concussion.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is being evaluated for a concussion after leaving the game in the fourth quarter against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Going up for a ball, Hilton came down hard on the turf and even though he was able to leave the field under his own power, he went to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion.

Taking Hilton’s spot will be a combination of Zach Pascal and Ashton Dulin.
