Tom Brady is practicing social distancing by rewatching the 28-3 Super Bowl comeback

Just what Brady wanted to watch.

The global coronavirus pandemic has essentially created a complete void in live sports television programming. There’s NASCAR iRacing and … well … nothing else.

So, even Tom Brady has looked for alternative viewing options to stay occupied and entertained while social distancing. And it just so happened that FOX came through with just the thing that the now-Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback was looking for.

Just one day after March 28 — or 3-28, you know, the day to troll the Atlanta Falcons for their historic blown lead in Super Bowl LI — FOX decided to re-air the historic Patriots Super Bowl comeback in its entirety. Brady seemed pleased with that decision.

Brady shared on his Instagram Story that he was relaxing on his couch and spending his Sunday afternoon by rewatching his comeback in Super Bowl LI.

I’m not gonna lie, that’s a pretty solid way to spend a day if you’re Tom Brady. Why not relive the glory days on a huge TV?

There’s not much else going on.

Former Georgia WR Malcolm Mitchell pokes fun at Falcons fans on 3/28

Former Georgia football and New England Patriots WR Malcolm Mitchell poked fun at Atlanta Falcons on 3/28.

After blowing a 28-3 lead in Super Bowl LI, March 28th is a day that is dreaded by fans of the Atlanta Falcons.

I won’t go into great detail, but the Falcons had a 28-3 lead midway through the third. Then, Tom Brady became Tom Brady.

The Patriots won the game 34-28. Nothing screams “Georgia sports” more than this heartbreaking defeat.

But for one former Georgia Bulldog, wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell, this day has a different affect on him than most out of the Peach State.

Mitchell, a Valdosta native, played for the Bulldogs from 2011-15. Taken in the 4th round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Patriots, Mitchell was a key player in that Super Bowl as a rookie.

He caught six passes for 70 yards in the overtime win, including all five targets from Brady in the pivotal fourth quarter. He converted four of those five receptions into first downs.

As much as you may hate the Patriots or the date 3/28, it’s hard to dislike Mitchell, who has overcame so much to make a name for himself in the NFL.

We’ll let him this one.

Falcons set themselves up for an all-time Super Bowl LI troll

The Atlanta Falcons tweeted their offices will be closed until 3/27, which only opened the team up to some 3-28 Super Bowl LI jokes.

The Atlanta Falcons announced their offices would be closed for at least a week on Friday. In doing so, they set themselves up for a brutal shot.

See, the Falcons’ offices are going to be shut through 3/27 — at least. And  followers recognized what that means.

While the tweet said the offices are closed until March 27, a number of fans responded with this kind of comment:

So, the date you open up is 3/28?
@JohnParshon

Yes, they would not let the Falcons forget 28-3 — 3-28 — was the lead they held over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI.

Kyle Shanahan orchestrates another monumental Super Bowl collapse

Kyle Shanahan has now been involved on the sad side of two epic Super Bowl collapses.

There was a prop bet this week that offered 100-1 odds if Kyle Shanahan was part of another collapse in a Super Bowl the size of the one the Atlanta Falcons went through against the New England Patriots in LI.

Well, you won’t cash if you made the bet, but Shanahan is on the brutal side of another Super Bowl disaster. The then-offensive coordinator saw the Falcons lose 34-28 to the Patriots after blowing a 28-3 lead in LI.. His San Francisco 49ers blew a 20-10 lead in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LIV Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs scored 21 straight points in the fourth quarter to post a 31-20 victory Sunday.

Shanahan has been a part of the only teams to lose the Super Bowl in the last 10 seasons when scoring first. The debacle between the games Shanahan was involved in totals 52-0 when you factor in the Falcons’ 25-point lead and the 10-point advantage the Niners blew at Hard Rock Stadium.

Once again, the question has to be asked: Why didn’t Shanahan stay with the running game? He took a lot of criticism for his play-calling in Super Bowl LI and he is going to find himself under the microscope again after LIV.

Raheem Mostert was making solid yardage on the ground, yet Shanahan quickly had Jimmy Garoppolo throw passes on second down when the 49ers were in position to run the ball, eat some clock and put themselves in a better position to control the game. The 49ers rushed for 141 yards overall, gaining 6.4 yards per carry. They went to the ground only 22 times despite the success with Garoppolo putting the ball up 31 times for 219 yards.

Garoppolo actually said he had joked with his coach about what happened to the Falcons.

Shanahan was asked about Atlanta’s failure during the lead-up to Super Bowl LIV.

“I don’t think there’s anything to run away from,” Shanahan told reporters Wednesday. “I thought we played a pretty darn good game. We were up 28-3 in the fourth and we all know that we did not play well in the fourth, did not coach well. I’m not going to run from that.”

The Niners’ coach would have been better off with his offense running the ball rather than risking a repeat of the ultimate collapse in Super Bowl history. This one wasn’t 25 points but it is every bit the failure.

Atlanta Falcons win social media with superb tweet

The Atlanta Falcons social media team scored with a perfect tweet after Baylor lost to Oklahoma.

If you can’t laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at, the adage goes. The Atlanta Falcons social media team proved that perfectly Saturday night on Twitter.

After Oklahoma stormed from a 28-3 deficit to shock previously undefeated Baylor, 34-31, in Waco, the folks behind Atlanta’s social media went to work.

The 28-3 score happened to be the same tally the Falcons led the Patriots by in Super Bowl LI before New England charged back for a 34-28 victory.

So, what is the only possible way to handle another football team that suffers the same kind of crushing result? Why this, of course.

Well played. Bravo, Falcons.
