The NFL owners on Monday voted to officially approve Levi’s Stadium as the site of Super Bowl LX.
Kickoff for that game is slated for February 8, 2026 to cap the 2025 season.
This will be the second Super Bowl hosted in the 49ers’ home stadium. The first was Super Bowl 50 when the Broncos thumped the Panthers 24-10.
Sports Business Journal reported in the days leading up to the meeting that Levi’s Stadium was due to be the site of Super Bowl 60, but the owners needed to officially vote on it.
“The Bay Area was an incredible host for Super Bowl 50, and we are thrilled to bring the Super Bowl back,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement released by the 49ers. “We look forward to working with the 49ers and the Bay Area Host Committee to create an impactful Super Bowl LX in 2026 that showcases all the great things the region has to offer.”
49ers president Al Guido also released a statement following the announcement:
“We are honored to host the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium once again, and to be stewards of one of the biggest sporting events in the world. Since hosting Super Bowl 50 in 2016, Levi’s Stadium has cemented its reputation as a world-class venue. I’m confident Super Bowl LX will be a terrific event that benefits the entire community.”
This season’s Super Bowl will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Next season’s will be at the Superdome in New Orleans.
2026 is shaping up to be a huge year for Levi’s Stadium. It’ll host the Super Bowl in February, and then act as a host site for the 2026 Men’s World Cup in the Summer.

It appears the Super Bowl is heading back to Santa Clara. Ben Fischer of Sports Business Journal on Thursday reported that NFL owners are voting on the location of the 2026 Super Bowl at next week’s league meeting, and they’re expected to award it to Levi’s Stadium.
That will be Super Bowl LX (60), which will cap the 2025 season.
The 49ers also played host to Super Bowl 50 after the 2015 season.
It’ll be a busy year in Santa Clara in 2026 with the World Cup also coming through North America. Levi’s Stadium is set to host some World Cup matches as well that Summer. The 49ers have already begun the process of finding money to make stadium renovations required to help make their case to host the league’s championship game.
This season’s Super Bowl is taking place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Next season’s is at the Superdome in New Orleans.
The league owners will vote at the league’s Spring meeting, which is set to take place May 22-24.

Jed York is confident the 49ers will host another Super Bowl soon.
The 49ers are trying to bring the Super Bowl back to Santa Clara. That process will involve improvements to Levi’s Stadium, which opened in 2014 and hosted Super Bowl L the following season.
Part of the process for making those improvements involves getting a $120 million loan from the NFL’s stadium fund. That loan will be voted on Tuesday per ESPN’s Nick Wagoner.
Wagoner also noted that 49ers CEO Jed York told reporters the improvements would take place over the next three years with hopes of having them finished in time for the 2026 World Cup and Super Bowl LX, which will cap the 2025 season.
Specific improvements the team would make are unknown, but it’s unlikely a roof will be in play with the money the 49ers are aiming to borrow from the league.
An evaluation future Super Bowl sites is set to take place at league meetings in May, and York told reporters he’s very confident the 49ers will host a Super Bowl in the near future. The next two Super Bowls are already spoken for with Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas hosting Super Bowl LVIII and the Superdome in New Orleans getting Super Bowl LIX.
