A seemingly bitter Brandon Aiyuk said he’d ‘bet everything’ on the Chiefs in the Super Bowl

He said this from his COUCH!

The San Francisco 49ers might not be playing in next Sunday’s Super Bowl, but that hasn’t stopped Brandon Aiyuk from sharing rather honest thoughts on the matchup.

Said game will feature the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs (and two Black starting quarterbacks for the first time!). You know, the very same Eagles that defeated Aiyuk’s 49ers 31-7 for the NFC championship for a berth in the Big Game.

Rather than keep his eye on the prize as the 49ers consider their next steps (especially at QB), Aiyuk appeared in a recent podcast with TheSFNiners. The conversation eventually centered around how Aiyuk feels the Eagles — who, again, beat his 49ers handily — will fare against the Chiefs. (Note: Aiyuk had one catch for 10 yards against the Eagles.)

For someone who was sent home for the offseason by Philadelphia, Aiyuk decided to let off some spicy analysis (with a big helping of sore-loser hindsight):

If Aiyuk’s thoughts about how the 49ers were actually better than the Eagles weren’t enough, he also said he’d “bet everything” on the Chiefs in the same interview:

As someone picking the Chiefs to beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl, I don’t disagree with the general premise Aiyuk presents. I think the Chiefs are better (mainly because of Patrick Mahomes) in an even matchup.

But for Aiyuk to imply that his 49ers were “going to expose” the Eagles’ sixth-ranked defense by DVOA before Brock Purdy got injured is iffy. Never mind that the wideout would ironically put so much money against Philadelphia’s odds for a title quite literally from his couch.

I’m more of the opinion that the seventh-rounder, Purdy, who had the great fortune of playing with a loaded roster against the overmatched Seattle Seahawks and the perennially choking Dallas Cowboys, would’ve been exposed by the Eagles over a full 60 minutes. Instead, Haason Reddick knocked Purdy out of the NFC title proceedings early, and Aiyuk can hang onto a thin strand of hope that things, maybe, would’ve been different.

We’ll see how Aiyuk’s bold (and probably a bit salty) bet on the Chiefs plays out next Sunday.

11 early Super Bowl 57 prop bets that have our attention

Checking out major sportsbooks to see which props are worth are the risk with a week before the Super Bowl kicks off.

For most casual bettors there’s rarely a great reason to start placing wagers on the Super Bowl during the bye week before the game.

There’s just too much uncertainty surrounding injuries, matchups, scouting and whatever bulletin board material pops up during pregame media sessions. Plus it can help to wait to see where the lines settle before fully committing to a side.

But that type of restraint is harder than ever now with major sportsbooks pumping out all types of props and specials to entice bettors to get in on the action early.

So let us take the temptation out of the equation for now. After combing through the props across the board, here’s are the specials that have our attention.

5 way-too-early predictions (Chris Jones tyrannizing Jalen Hurts) that will totally happen in Super Bowl 57

Anything can and probably WILL happen in Super Bowl 57.

It’s easy to say now, especially in an NFL season that’s seemingly been so volatile from the jump, but we should be in store for quite the treat when the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles square off in Super Bowl 57.

Because despite all of the chaos, we are ultimately getting a matchup of two top-seeds and two 14-win teams. It’s the first Super Bowl tilt of No. 1 seeds since the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 52 — half a decade ago. In the heavily adjusted paraphrased words of the immortal “Macho Man” Randy Savage: It’s unjustifiably a position we’d rather be in, the cream has risen to the top, and we are getting the cream of the crop.

Take it away, Mr. Savage:

In the coming days, there’ll be a lot of bold declarations and (superfluous) analysis of what to envision from a game that features Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, etc., etc., etc. (Takes a deep breath) So, in the interest of helping you cut through the thick brush, I’ve rounded up a few way-too-early predictions about what we’ll definitely see unfold in Arizona.

Peer into my glorious crystal ball, and you won’t be remotely shocked once you see these happenings take place in Super Bowl 57.

Sports Betting Futures: World Series, WNBA and preseason Super Bowl odds entering August

Justin Verlander is the new favorite for AL MVP.

It’s the start of August, which means the NFL is ramping back up with preseason play. So, it’s no better time than now to make yourself aware of the Super Bowl odds for each team, as they could potentially change as position battles are won and injuries inevitably occur.

In baseball, the Dodgers and Yankees remain the two World Series favorites, though the Astros and Mets have closed the gap a little. The award races are less tight, as Aaron Judge and Paul Goldschmidt have shortened their respective AL and NL MVP odds by a lot over the last month. And Justin Verlander is the new favorite for the AL Cy Young Award.

Here’s a look at all of that and more entering August, with odds from Tipico Sportsbook.
