Suni Lee earns bronze medal in Paris Olympic All-Around final

Lee earned her second medal of the Paris Games on Thursday, and the fifth of her career.

[autotag]Suni Lee[/autotag] will exit the Paris Games with another medal to add to her luggage.

The former Auburn star competed in the All-Around finals Thursday after finishing third in Sunday’s qualifier. She concluded the event by scoring 56.465, high enough to earn a Bronze medal. She finished behind silver medalist Rebeca Andrade from Brazil and gold medalist Simone Biles, her Team USA teammate.

Lee earned the Bronze medal after a stellar floor routine. Her 13.666 score lifted Lee from fourth place into medal status.

The Bronze is the second for Lee in the Paris Games. She won a Gold medal Wednesday after Team USA claimed the top spot in the Women’s finals. In all, Lee holds five Olympic medals including two Gold.

Fans loved Simone Biles and Suni Lee celebrating together after winning Olympic gold and bronze

SIMONE AND SUNI FOREVER.

Simone Biles and Suni Lee joyously celebrated together after winning Olympic medals in the women’s individual all-around final, and fans totally loved it.

Oh, my goodness. It wasn’t enough for Simone to absolutely crush the competition Thursday evening after winning her sixth Olympic gold medal in the event. But she also wholesomely celebrated with Suni — who won a well-deserved bronze medal — on the floor in a super heartwarming moment.

Suni’s kidney condition has created some unimaginable hurdles for her, including not being able to train for the Olympics until January of this year. So, seeing her screaming away and jumping with excitement after winning was fantastic, and I can’t stand it.

Olympics fans totally loved the moment, too, and couldn’t help but comment on it.

Suni Lee loved that Simone Biles called out MyKayla Skinner after Team USA gymnastics’ Olympic gold medal

Simone Biles: Olympic champion and elite teammate.

Elite competitors can find motivation anywhere. And for U.S. gymnastics star Simone Biles, that extra motivation came from a former teammate.

In the lead-up to the Paris Olympics, former Team USA women’s gymnastics star MyKayla Skinner offered a pointed criticism of the current group heading to Paris. Skinner — in a YouTube appearance — claimed that this year’s team lacked the talent, depth and work ethic of previous Team USA squads. Skinner did eventually apologize for the remarks, but you best believe that the team remembered those comments after Tuesday’s Olympic gold medal-winning performance.

Biles mocked Skinner’s comments in a celebratory Instagram post. And Olympic teammate Suni Lee particularly loved how Biles called out Skinner.

In a comment on the initial post, Lee wrote, “Put a finger down if Simone Biles just ended you.”

Skinner apparently didn’t take kindly to the shade either as it looked like she blocked Biles.

Team USA, Suni Lee wins gold medal in Women’s team finals

The former Auburn star earned another Olympic gold medal as Team USA defeats Italy in the women’s gymnastics finals.

Team USA women’s gymnastics took home the gold medal in the women’s team final on Tuesday, and the results were not even close.

Team USA earned the top spot at the podium Tuesday by scoring 171.296, nearly six full points ahead of the silver medalist team, Italy, who finished with a 165.494 overall score. Former Auburn star [autotag]Suni Lee[/autotag] played a key role in Team USA’s win by having a solid performance on bars (14.566) and beam (14.600).

With Tuesday’s performance, Lee earned her second gold medal in Olympic competition. In 2021, she took home the gold medal in the all-around competition at the Tokyo Games, and she has the chance to win another all-around gold medal Thursday. She finished second in Sunday’s competition, trailing only Simone Biles.

Here’s a look at the best images from Lee and Team USA’s gold medal win.

Team USA gymnastics wasted no time creating the hysterical gold medal TikTok that Simone Biles and Suni Lee planned

Simone Biles and Suni Lee are also TikTok geniuses.

Be as completely dominant as Team USA gymnastics in the Paris Olympics, and you’ve earned the right to some good old-fashioned bravado. Just ask the legendary Simone Biles as she explained her NSFW nickname for herself and her teammates after winning the gold medal in the all-around team final on Tuesday.

As it turns out, the acrobatic ladies weren’t quite done celebrating in their own unique way just yet.

Right after the USA officially won gold, Biles and Suni Lee were filmed mapping out their triumphant TikTok plans. The exchange specifically centered on Lee mentioning how she wanted to do a video with the team, “imagining if they never won” in the style of Kanye West’s infamous Grammys speech.

It was absolutely hilarious to see world-class athletes do this live, and, well, they wasted no time putting their plans into action:

Indeed, imagine if Biles and Lee didn’t lead the best gymnastics team in the world. Hmm, honestly, we really will never know.

Suni Lee advances to All-Around final at Paris Olympics

Lee finished third in Sunday’s All-Around competition with a 56.132.

Team USA gymnast [autotag]Suni Lee[/autotag] continues dominating the Olympic Games competition.

On Sunday, the former Auburn star scored 56.132 in the All-Around competition, which was high enough to earn a third-place overall finish and a spot on Thursday’s All-Around final. She earned the slot by finishing third on bars (14.866) and fourth on beam (14.033).

USA TODAY’s Nancy Armour and Tom Schad say that Lee’s performance on bars is what ultimately lifted her to a spot in the All-Around finals.

(Jordan) Chiles was narrowly ahead of Lee going into the group’s final rotation, uneven bars — but unfortunately for her, that happens to be Lee’s best event. And the reigning Olympic all-around champion delivered. In a pressure-packed moment, she registered a score of 14.866 — six-tenths better than Chiles — to squeak into the second all-around qualification spot.

Lee will join Simone Biles at the All-Around finals on Thursday at 11:15 CT. While we wait to watch Lee compete again, take a look at the best images from Lee’s stay in Paris so far.

Who is Suni Lee’s boyfriend? What we know about her relationship with USC’s Jaylin Smith

Everything we know about the relationship between the gymnast and the football player.

Suni Lee is a big part of Team USA’s gymnastics squad, especially after she won gold in the women’s all-around in 2020 at the Tokyo Games.

She’s also reportedly dating a member of USC’s football team.

Jaylin Smith is a cornerback for the Trojans, and she’s spoken out via comments on TikTok after the pair went Instagram official, saying that the Hmong American community supports her “when it’s beneficial for them never when it comes to my happiness.”

Although we don’t have a recent update on whether or not they’re still together, it seems like she’s keep that relationship mostly private.

With 39 gold medals at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, the United States led all nations for the third straight Summer Games since 2012.

Though the total was Team USA’s lowest gold medal count since 2008, make no mistake, it’s still the team to beat in many competitions entering the 2024 Paris Olympics. You need not look further than the returning medalists looking to defend their titles.

That doesn’t include gold medalists from previous Olympics (Simon Biles!), which we won’t get to here. But below is a look at the 2021 gold medalists back for more this summer.

Suni Lee earns second consecutive Olympic bid

The former Auburn star is heading to Paris after finishing second in the US Olympic Gymnastics trials.

Former Auburn gymnast [autotag]Suni Lee[/autotag] is heading to Paris after a strong showing at the US Gymnastics Olympic trials over the weekend.

Lee finished with a 111.675 all-around score in the two-day event, earning a second-place finish behind Simone Biles, who scored a 117.225. Lee will join Biles, as well as Jordan Chiles, Hezley Rivera, and Jade Carey for the Paris Olympics as members of the Team USA Gymnastics team.

For Lee, the bid to Paris is overwhelming. Last year, her Auburn gymnastics career ended abruptly as she stepped away from the program to battle a kidney ailment. Following Sunday’s competition, she told reporters that she could not imagine herself in this position a year ago.

“Well, I was just reminded of my goals every day and constantly surrounded by people who never let me give up. I’m so thankful because a year ago, I didn’t even think this was …yeah, I didn’t think this was possible and I’m so grateful for all these amazing ladies. They’re absolutely incredible, so I can’t wait to be in Paris.”

To celebrate Lee’s second-straight Olympics bid, here is a look back at the best images of Suni Lee competing in Sunday’s US Olympic trials.
