Meet Steven Johnson, the former Patriots TE who had an affair with Sonya Curry

Former Patriots TE Steven Johnson’s name was thrown to the public during Sonya and Dell Curry’s divorce.

Steven Johnson, a tight end who was drafted by the New England Patriots in 1988, made headlines in 2021 for his involvement with Sonya Curry, mother to NBA players Steph Curry and Seth Curry.

Sonya filed for divorce after 33 years of marriage with Dell Curry and the pair accused of each other of cheating. Sonya claimed that Dell cheated on her with multiple women during the marriage and Dell accused her of having an affair with Johnson.

According to TMZ, Sonya denied the fact she was cheating on Dell and said the relationship began months after the couple decided to legally separate in March of 2020. In court documents, Dell said Sonya “began her extramarital affair with Mr. Johnson during the marriage and prior to the date of separation, and she lied to [Dell] each time she cheated on him.”

Dell said she was living with Johnson in Tennessee and that she shouldn’t be entitled to alimony because of it. Sonya denied these claims.

Which Seattle Dragons should the Seahawks pursue in free agency?

The Seattle Dragons could send a handful of players from the XFL to the NFL, and the Seattle Seahawks should have their eye on a few of them

The XFL’s first season back on the field was cut short, thanks to concern about the global pandemic known as COVID-19.

However – the league proved it can sustain itself thanks to an entertaining brand of football and multiple, lucrative media deals that should allow the league to survive in 2021 and beyond.

One aspect of the XFL that has yet to be fully fleshed out is the idea of the league as a feeder league for the NFL. While that is not currently a functioning relationship between the two entities, it’s clear many of the players who succeed in the XFL will inevitably end up in the NFL – starting with star quarterback P.J. Walker, who agreed to terms with the Carolina Panthers on the first day XFL players were eligible to sign with NFL teams.

Walker won’t be the last XFL player to ink a new deal, and while Seattle’s local team, the Dragons, finished with just a 1-4 record, they too have some potential NFL talent on their roster.

Here are three players who could be of interest to the Seattle Seahawks, all who have previous NFL experience and who have a good chance of winning a job in training camp if they play well over the summer.

Ex-Broncos LB Steven Johnson hoping for another chance to play football after XFL shuts down

With the XFL’s season cut short, former Broncos linebacker Steven Johnson is left hoping for another chance to play football.

Like many sports leagues around the world, the XFL has been put on hold due to COVID-19. The league has canceled its season and will allow players to immediately sign with NFL teams.

Several former Broncos were playing in the league, including linebacker Steven Johnson. After the coronavirus forced the XFL to prematurely end its season, Johnson reacted to the news on Twitter.

“I’m low key hurting,” Johnson tweeted with a broken heart emoji on Thursday. “I just wanna play football! I never cared how tired, how hurt, or how sick I was. Ever since I was 5 I just wanted to play! Lord willing I’ll get another shot soon! @xfl2020 THANK YOU!”

Johnson (6-0, 239 pounds) led all XFL defenders with 48 tackles this spring. He totaled a whopping 14 tackles in a 24-12 loss to Dallas in Week 3. Johnson was a starter for the Seattle Dragons in the XFL.

He spent six years in the NFL, including three seasons in Denver.

Johnson featured on special teams for the Broncos and stepped up in 2014, totaling 32 tackles and half a sack in seven starts. He last played in the NFL in 2017 with the Ravens. Before joining the XFL, Johnson played for the Arizona Hotshots in the now-defunct Alliance of American Football.

Which XFL team should Broncos fans root for?

Which XFL team should Broncos fans root for? Here’s a rooting guide for fans in Denver.

The XFL will begin on Saturday and 12 former Denver Broncos players are set to play in the new league. So which XFL team should fans in Denver root for?

All eight teams have at least one former Bronco on their roster, though some of those players are more notable than their counterparts (view all of the XFL rosters here). Here’s a quick recap of each team’s connections to the Broncos.

In St. Louis, Marquette King will be their starting punter.

In Dallas, Christian Kuntz will compete for playing time at linebacker.

In Washington, D.C., safety Shamarko Thomas appears poised to start.

In Los Angeles, Quentin Gause will compete for playing time at linebacker.

In Tampa Bay, Deiontrez Mount will look to make his mark as a pass rusher.

In New York, wide receiver Mekale McKay will look to follow up his season in the AAF with a successful stint in the XFL.

If none of those players piqued your interest, don’t worry: we saved the best for last. Two teams — Seattle and Houston — both have three former Broncos on their rosters.

In Houston, running back De’Angelo Henderson will be teammates with defensive lineman Caushaud Lyons and offensive lineman Avery Gennesy. In Seattle, linebacker Steven Johnson will play with center Dillon Day and linebacker Stansly Maponga.

If you’re picking a favorite XFL team based on its connections to the Broncos, the decision likely comes down to Houston vs. Seattle.

Henderson is probably one of the most-liked ex-Denver players in the XFL. He was — as are many running backs — a preseason darling for fans. Johnson is probably the most accomplished ex-Bronco in the XFL. He spent six years in the NFL and started seven games for Denver in 2014.

Seattle will face Houston in Week 5 on Saturday, March 7 on ABC.
