Steelers WR Van Jefferson’s young son has epic reaction to touchdown

The son of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Van Jefferson had an adorable reaction to his father’s touchdown versus the New York Jets.

As many fans and media predicted, Van Jefferson has not turned out to be the WR2 (or even WR3) the Pittsburgh Steelers had in mind when they signed him in free agency.

In seven games since joining the Steelers, Jefferson has been targeted 16 times for 10 receptions and 77 yards. His first touchdown of the season came in Week 7 against the New York Jets.

No one was more excited than Jefferson’s son, who joined him on the field after the win.

“Daddy, you made a touchdown,” Jefferson’s son exclaimed gleefully.

It may have been the first the young boy remembers. Jefferson’s last score was nearly two years ago, in Week 14 versus the Las Vegas Raiders, as a member of the Los Angeles Rams.

Over his four-year career, Jefferson has 1,677 yards and 11 touchdowns on 123 receptions.

Aaron Rodgers makes Steelers CB Beanie Bishop’s postgame wish come true

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers agreed on The Pat McAfee Show to sign balls intercepted by Pittsburgh Steelers CB Beanie Bishop.

It’s every rookie cornerback’s dream to have a game like the one Beanie Bishop had under the Sunday Night Football lights. Not only did he become the talk of Pittsburgh after both interceptions led to touchdowns for the Steelers, but they came off throws from future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Bishop was like a kid on Christmas when asked what his plan was to do with the balls.

“I really want to get them signed and framed, for real… We’ll see how that goes, though,” Bishop said in a postgame interview with NBC’s Melissa Stark.

Although it seemed like a long-shot request, Rodgers said, “Yeah I can do that,” when asked in his weekly interview on “The Pat McAfee Show” (at 1:47 in video) whether he’d make the kid’s wish come true.

Bishop explained what he saw in both instances. “We knew how he liked to attack us. Whenever he sees the middle of the field open, he likes to throw those types of passes. I just happened to be right there and play what I saw. And then, on the second one, the ball tipped up. We knew that was a route that we gave up and that was a route they’ve been running, even in Green Bay. I played it right. The ball tipped up and I tried to house call it.”

Though Bishop couldn’t complete the house call, he set the Steelers up nicely for a Russell Wilson rushing touchdown to put Pittsburgh ahead by eight.

Le’Veon Bell expects a lot of Steelers fans, boos at MetLife Stadium on Sunday

New York Jets RB Le’Veon Bell expects a lot of Steelers fans to be in attendance at MetLife Stadium on Sunday with mixed responses.

Le’Veon Bell is prepared to be booed at a home game, but it won’t be by his own fans.

Bell is facing the Pittsburgh Steelers for the first team since the two sides underwent a messy divorce. Considering the manner in which he left the organization, New York’s star running back isn’t anticipating cheers from the many Steelers fans that figure to be at MetLife Stadium this weekend.

“It’s going to be packed with Steeler fans,” Bell said on Thursday. “When we played the Raiders, there were a lot of Raider fans and it was loud. I think it’ll be the same as that, if not more. Steeler fans travel well. I definitely know that.

“It’ll probably be 50-50. I think half will be happy to see me and still love me, and half that hates me, despises me. It is what it is. I’m going to show love, regardless. Anybody who’s wearing my jersey, I’ll go sign it. It’s going to be fun.”

This game will definitely have a little extra juice to it, even if Bell is downplaying it. While Pittsburgh is the team that took a chance on Bell coming out of Michigan State and helped develop him into an All-Pro running back, they refused to make him the highest-paid rusher in the NFL.

Playing on the franchise tag in 2017, Bell had a league-high 321 carries for 1,291 yards, as well as 85 catches for 655 yards. The following year, Bell refused to sign the franchise tag placed upon him by Pittsburgh, resulting in him sitting out the entire season.

Still, Bell insists there are no bitter feelings, despite him sitting out in 2018.

“No, last year was last year and two years ago was two years ago,” he said. “I’m over it now. I’m past it. I’m here. I’m with the New York Jets, and I’m happy.”

Bell is happy despite his worst statistical season to date. Coming off his best game of the season in which he ran for a season-high 87 yards on the ground, Bell is hoping he can parlay last week’s success into more production against his former team.

“I’m happy where I’m at,” he said. “The way things are going, obviously it’s not ideal with the way our record is. But like I said in Week 2, Week 3, this is kind of like rebuilding. I want to be a part of it and see it grow.”
