Pelicans’ guard Jose Alvarado is literally hiding on the court to force the sneakiest turnovers and it’s hilarious

COOKIIIIIIIESSSSSS

Being short in the NBA seems like it could be a real double-edged sword sometimes. It’s both a gift and a curse.

Of course, it’s a curse because you’re shorter than everyone else even if you’re, like, 6 feet tall on the dot. Sure, you’re taller than regular humans. But amongst your peers? You might as well be a 15 year old.

You’re going to constantly get targeted on defense by taller players and there’s nothing you can really do about it. Sometimes you’re super strong like Chris Paul and can handle those mismatches. But most times, you’re food. It is what it is. Everyone understands.

That all sounds pretty awful. So, you’re probably asking “yo, where’s the gift part?”

Jose Alvarado figured it out.

My dude literally hid on the court by his team’s bench and forced Alex Caruso into a travel. This is just a master class in trickery.  This is amazing.

The wild part? This isn’t the only time he’s done this. He actually does this pretty often at this point — three times this week already.

Alvarado in the cut — that’s a scary sight. This dude is a legend. A genius. A thief. A menace. This is absolutely brilliant stuff here.

He’s putting on for all the 6’0 and under folks out there and I, for one, appreciate this so much. The tall folk better start paying attention or else Alvarado is coming to steal your cookies.

We absolutely love to see it. Fans were so here for this thievery from Alvarado.

Santana Moss says Washington ‘stole one’ with Day 3 pick of Antonio Gandy-Golden

Santana Moss was one of the last great Redskin receivers, but he thinks the team might have added one more by drafting AGG.

Historically, the Washington Redskins have had some of the best wide receivers in the game, dating back to players like Art Monk, and Bobby Mitchell, and Charley Taylor.

As of late, though, the production from the WR position has fallen off a little bit. We got to watch as Terry McLaurin burst onto our TV’s in 2019, but if you were to name the difference-makers who have popped up over the last decade in Washington, it’s hard to name more than a few — Santana Moss, Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson, and Jamison Crowder.

That might be changing going forward, however, as one of those difference-makers thinks that the Redskins added a potentially transcendent player in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Santana Moss is a fan of Antonio Gandy-Golden.

“I think we still stole one this year,” Moss said via NBC Sports Washington. “When you look at Gandy-Golden, I have high hopes for him.”

Many of the Redskins’ fans feel the same way, knowing that they may have gotten a Day One contributor at the WR position on Day 3 of the draft. Gandy-Golden was selected with the 142nd overall pick, and many draft experts say that in any other year, where the WR class wasn’t as deep, he would have been a second-rounder, easily.

“I really think that we got the diamond in the rough,” Moss said. “I heard some NFL execs talking draft day saying ‘The Redskins stole one.'”

If Moss is right, and the Redskins did indeed find their next playmaker, the ability to pair him with Terry McLaurin will be something special to watch over the next few years.

Redskins RB Antonio Gibson named one of biggest steals of 2020 draft

The Redskins found Antonio Gibson in the third round, and he has a chance to be a huge difference-maker.

The Washington Redskins had an easy selection to make in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but it’s the second pick that they made last weekend that really got the respect of the public.

With the No. 66 pick, Washington built off the success of Chase Young by drafting RB Antonio Gibson, a dynamic offensive weapon out of Memphis. Heading into the 2020 season, Gibson will instantly be implemented into several packages in the offense as Scott Turner looks to get him the ball out in space.

Now that we’ve had the chance to revisit the draft a week removed, many think that drafting Gibson was one of the better picks of the entire draft. At USA TODAY’s Touchdown Wire, they named Gibson as one of the biggest steals of the draft.

Limited sample size had Gibson, the Memphis alum, dropping to the 66th overall pick in the third round, but there’s no denying his explosive ability as both a receiver and returner. Last season, he broke 16 tackles on his 33 rushing attempts, and 17 tackles on his 38 catches. Imagine DK Metcalf also playing running back, and you’ll understand his athletic potential in the right system. Washington head coach Ron Rivera has intimated that the Redskins could use Gibson as the Panthers, Rivera’s former team, used Christian McCaffrey as a do-it-all weapon.

There’s no telling exactly how the Redskins will use Gibson just yet, but we know that he will likely be heavily featured throughout the gameplan.

USA TODAY’s ‘Way-too-early 2021 Mock’ has Redskins taking QB Trevor Lawrence No. 1

After having Chase Young fall into their lap in 2020, the Redskins might get lucky again in 2021 with a clear shot to draft Trevor Lawrence.

The rich get richer in the NFL sometimes, don’t they?

That seems to be an absolutely insane statement to say about the Washington Redskins, but when you consider that DE Chase Young fell into their laps with the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the guy they are being mocked to get in 2021 may be just as good.

Our friends over at USA TODAY’s Draft Wire recently released their version of a ‘Way too Early 2021 Mock Draft,’ using Vegas Super Bowl odds to determine the order. Unfortunately for the Redskins, they come in last place. Fortunately, that means that Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence is coming to Washington with the No. 1 overall pick.

If you don’t know much about Lawrence, we wrote this earlier in the week when questioning if the Redskins might be apart of the ‘Lose for Lawrence’ sweepstakes:

Above all other prospects stands Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence, who stole the show in 2018 when he burst onto the scene and won a National Championship in his freshman year. He almost followed it up again this past year, losing to Joe Burrow and LSU in the championship game. There will obviously be other big names in the class, but it seems like a foregone conclusion that Lawrence will be the first player taken off the board, and teams will likely Lose for Lawrence in the NFL this year, much like they Tanked for Tua last year.

At 6-foot-6, 220 pounds, Lawrence has a rocket-arm and an immaculate mane of hair. He is almost guaranteed to be the top quarterback taken off the board in 2021, and should the team at No. 1 be in need, he’ll most definitely be taken then. So will the Redskins be in need of a QB? Well, we can’t quite answer that question yet, but it’s not crazy to think. Though we saw some growth from Dwayne Haskins near the end of his rookie year, and all signs point towards him improving in 2020, there are still some doubts that he can be everything that Washington envisioned when drafting him at No. 15 overall in 2019. So if Haskins fails to make the leap, and the Redskins have a chance to draft one of the best QB prospects since Andrew Luck, what do they do? Some may think it’s a tough decision; I think it’s a great problem to have.

Antonio Gandy-Golden was one of the most valuable picks in the 2020 draft

The Redskins found a massive steal in the fourth round with Antonio Gandy-Golden, making him one of the most valuable picks in the draft.

With their fourth pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins selected Antonio Gandy-Golden, a wide receiver from Liberty.

Fans may have heard the name in mock drafts and brief scouting reports in the months leading up to the draft, but few people may have actually know exactly who the Redskins were adding to the team. Now that a few days have passed, it’s clear that Washington got one of the bigger steals of the draft, and someone who a few analysts are saying could be one of the most valuable picks in the whole class.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah came out on Monday with his list of the best value picks from each round, and he had AGG jotted down as his choice from the 4th round, picking him over players like TE Harrison Bryant (Cleveland) and LB Troy Dye (Minnesota).

Jeremiah broke the list down using a simple scale where he took his overall rank of each player, subtracting it from the pick they were eventually drafted at. Gandy-Golden — who was drafted No. 142 overall — had a +63 rating, as he was Jeremiah’s 79th rated player in the draft.

Washington will now be able to add him to a deep receiving corp where they already have Terry McLaurin leading the way, whom they found max value with in 2019 as well.

Instant analysis of Redskins selection of S Kamren Curl in seventh round

The Redskins got yet another versatile defensive back in the seventh round of the draft with the selection of Arkansas S Kamren Curl.

With their selection of S Kamren Curl in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Redskins picked up yet another defender who can play in multiple positions and make his presence felt across the field.

Curl had an impressive career at Arkansas, where he became a jack of all trades type player in their defense. Alongside fellow rookie LB/S Khaleke Hudson, Curl will be able to provide depth to the defensive secondary and fit in where need be if someone goes down with injury.

Curl started at strong safety over the last two years in college, and he will likely slot into a role learning behind Redskins’ Landon Collins, which is about as good of a situation a young player can find himself in.

According to multiple sources, Curl had a breakout year in his sophomore year at Arkansas, but he was suspended for the final game of the season because he was flirting with the opposing teams’ cheerleaders. It looks like confidence won’t be an issue here.

Redskins select Arkansas S Kamren Curl with pick No. 216 in 2020 NFL Draft

With one of their seventh-round fliers, the Redskins snagged a guy with great upside, hoping he can become a solid contributor in the years to come.

With their first of two picks in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins have selected S Kamren Curl, from Arkansas.

Any pick in the seventh round is going to be considered a bit of a flier on a guy with high-upside, and that’s exactly what the Redskins got here with Curl. Washington has a need for depth in the secondary, looking for someone to backup Sean Davis in the secondary.

It may take some time for Curl to crack the depth chart and earn some minutes, but he will definitely be around this fall, and I almost guarantee he will make the 53-man roster cut.

Instant analysis of Redskins taking LB Khaleke Hudson in fifth round

Khaleke Hudson is a linebacker/safety hybrid who can comfortably get out in coverage as well as being a run-stopper.

With the No. 162 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins have selected Michigan LB Khaleke Hudson.

Hudson will be a great addition to the roster, as he presents a solid player who can play at both the OLB and safety position when asked to do so.

The Redskins were in need of an OLB prospect coming into the draft, and one of their other lesser needs was at safety as well. In a single pick, Washington got a positionless defender who can roam the middle of the field and act as a run-stopper in the second level as well.

With Sean Davis added at FS in free agency, the Redskins obviously wanted to add a bit of depth to their secondary and have a nice piece that they can mold going forward.

Something to note with Hudson is his proficiency on special teams as well, where he blocked five punts at Michigan in college.

One trend we’ve seen in the Redskins’ strategy this offseason is building for depth, and makings sure that they are covered if any one player goes down with an injury. Husdon continues that line of thinking.

Redskins select LB Khaleke Hudson with pick No. 162 in 2020 NFL Draft

With their final pick before a long break, the Redskins got a steal in the fifth, taking a player who can be a difference-maker right away.

With the 162nd pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins selected Michigan LB Khaleke Hudson.

Their final pick for a while was of the utmost importance to the Redskins, and they managed to find some great value in Hudson.

As a hybrid LB/S, Hudson is a great selection for the Redskins, as he directly fills a position of need for Washington, and their ability to grab him this late in the draft is impressive, to say the least. We will see in the future exactly what impact he can have, but there is no question that fans should be ecstatic about this pick.

Redskins select C Keith Ismael with pick No. 156 in fifth round of NFL Draft

Using a pick that they added in the Trent Williams trade, Washington found a steal in the fifth round of the draft.

With the 156th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins selected C Keith Ismael, for San Diego State.

The Redskins weren’t originally supposed to have this pick, but they acquired the extra draft capital as part of the trade package that landed LT Trent Williams with the San Francisco 49ers. They will also have an extra third-round pick in 2021 as well.

The selection of Ismael is a bit confusing, as the Redskins don’t exactly have a need at the C position, with Roullier at the starting spot. But the pick was said to create depth on the offensive line.
