Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes leads NFL in passing yards since 2020

#Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was featured by PFF as one of three signal-callers to eclipse the 14,000 passing yard mark since 2020.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is known for his prolific statistics in Andy Reid’s offense and was featured by Pro Football Focus as one of three signal-callers to eclipse 14,000 passing yards since 2020.

Mahomes had elite company on PFF’s list and was joined by Tom Brady and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert as the only passers to reach the impressive milestone.

While Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion, came close to matching Mahomes’ production, Herbert lagged behind both signal-callers with nearly 800 fewer yards than the reigning MVP.

Statistics like these can help put Mahomes’ dominance into perspective, given that 300-yard games and five-touchdown performances seem to be an expectation for him in Kansas City’s offense. No other quarterback in the NFL can truly rival his exceptional output on the gridiron, and Mahomes even makes it seem that those who come close are still left in a cloud of dust at the end of the season.

Wild stats shows just how dominant Alabama basketball has been

On average, Alabama is winning games by an unbelievable margin.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are tied for their best start in SEC play since the 1955-1956 season as the team rushed out to an undefeated 11-0 conference record. The Tide stand two games clear of the Texas A&M Aggies and three games ahead of the Tennessee Volunteers with only seven games remaining.

Alabama’s dominance is much more impressive than just being undefeated though, they also are averaging a 22.3 margin of victory in those eleven games. That would be an outstanding margin of victory against mid-majors, let alone in one of the best conferences in the sport.

For comparison, the Volunteers have the second-best margin of victory in the SEC at 12.1 points per game, a whole ten points less than the Tide. Alabama’s next two games will be massive in clinching the regular season title as they travel to Auburn on Saturday and to No. 6 Tennessee next Wednesday.

A statistic that helps define Seahawks 1st-round pick Jordyn Brooks

Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar determined one interesting statistic that helps define Seahawks’ first-round draft pick, LB Jordyn Brooks.

The Seattle Seahawks selected linebacker Jordyn Brooks in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft in a move that left many shaking their heads. However, shortly after the draft, Seahawks general manager John Schneider revealed starter K.J. Wright has undergone shoulder surgery this offseason and his timeline for return remains uncertain.

Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar recently took a look at every pick in the first round of the draft and put together a piece detailing one metric that defines each of the rookies.

“The Seahawks played base defense (three linebackers) on 67% of their defense snaps in 2019, far more than any team,” Farrar writes. “So, it makes sense that they’d take Texas Tech’s Brooks, an old-school run-stopper, in the first round.”

“Though there is a level of uncertainty regarding Brooks’ ability to stack and shed between the guards, and he’s not always on point when tracking down ballcarriers,” Farrar continues. “Last season, he totaled 12 missed tackles, and that shows up on tape.”

The Seahawks may have big plans for Brooks this season but with the coronavirus pandemic still keeping NFL facilities closed, he’ll have to adapt to Seattle’s scheme virtually, for now.
