Watch: Titans’ Derrick Henry featured in State Farm commercial

Check out the new State Farm ad featuring Titans running back Derrick Henry.

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has taken on a new job off the football field as the newest spokesman for State Farm insurance. Henry is just the latest NFL star to take on the role.

Players like Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce and former Green Bay Packers and current New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers have also starred in State Farm spots.

Henry’s first commercial will air on Sunday during his team’s Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens on NFL Network.

In the commercial, Henry can be seen doing workouts that include flipping a truck tire and refrigerator, lifting an engine and pulling an entire set of living room furniture, all of which is actually believable for the hulking back.

You can check out the ad below.

The Titans and Ravens meet in London in Week 6, with the game set for an 8:30 a.m. CST kickoff.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on hiding foodstuff from Andy Reid

#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes expounded on the punchline of a recent commercial in his comments to the media on Wednesday

Comedy is best when it’s based on truth, which is why the new State Farm commercial featuring Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and coach Andy Reid (and Jake from State Farm) is so funny.

Everyone knows coach Reid is a foodie — he talks about that fact in press conferences often — so that’s why it’s hilarious to see him steal chicken nuggets and other foods from Mahomes and Jake in the latest ad:

But that begs the question: Does coach Reid actually steal Mahomes’ nuggets (and food) in real life?

“I try to keep the nuggies and keep my cheeseburgers away from coach,” Mahomes said Wednesday in the team’s press conference.

Reid is a big, big cheeseburger guy — any burger, as long as it doesn’t have mustard, will do — so if you ever find yourself enjoying a burger with coach Reid in the vicinity, make sure to keep a tight grip on that delicious sandwich.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes explains how he convinced Andy Reid to do the State Farm commercial

The Kansas City Chiefs were victorious against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in front of a national audience on “Sunday Night Football.” Fans who stuck around during the commercial breaks may have caught two familiar faces showing off their acting chops.

Patrick Mahomes is no stranger to appearing in commercials, but his co-star stole the show. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid made a shocking appearance in the ad providing some comedy relief.

Speaking to Carrington Harrison on 610 Sports Radio show “The Drive” for his weekly check-in, Mahomes revealed how he was able to get coach Reid in his latest State Farm commercial.

“It was funny because they asked me about the idea; I was like, ‘Man, I’ll ask him, I just don’t know if he’ll do it,'” Mahomes said. “When I asked him, he was like, ‘Do you want me to?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, it’d be cool and people would be able to get to see your personality on a different level and different scale.’ I got there, and he crushed it. He’s a natural at that kind of stuff. You don’t see that mean Coach Reid; you see how much personality he has. I think it’s my best commercial yet. He kind of stole the show and was the main guy.”

Reid gave his side of the commercial story during his press conference on Monday, saying he was convinced to take the role. Mahomes remains unsure whether he’d be able to get Reid into another advertisement in the future.

“I always have an interest in bringing my teammates and coaches into everything I do outside of football,” Mahomes said. “We’ll see if we can try and get Coach Reid into some different stuff. I don’t know how much more he’ll want to do, but it was definitely cool to have him in one.”

The performance was applauded on Twitter by life-long Chiefs fan and actor Eric Stonestreet. He even took some credit for Reid’s performance.

Perhaps Stonestreet will be able to help Mahomes convince Reid to do some acting again next time around.

Here’s what Chiefs HC Andy Reid had to say about his State Farm commercial

#Chiefs HC Andy Reid spoke on Monday about how his State Farm advertisement with Patrick Mahomes came to be.

You might have seen Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid on the sidelines on Sunday night, but you also might have seen him during the commercial break.

Reid made his commercial debut on Sunday, joining the iconic Jake from State Farm and Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes in an advertisement for the insurance company. During the commercial, Coach Reid is seen drawing mustaches on his players while they’re asleep on a plane ride. That includes Mahomes, who comes up to his head coach and exclaims, “It happened again!”

The head coach did a great job with the advertisement and has received plenty of praise for his on-screen performance. How exactly did Reid end up in show business, though? He explained to reporters that it was all thanks to his star quarterback.

“Well, listen, Pat (Mahomes) asked me if I would do it with him,” Reid said. “And I told him, ‘I’m not very good at that stuff.’ Listen it was a fun thing. It was good to see how people treat Pat. It was interesting to see how the production goes because he does a lot of these things. It kind of gave me the inside scoop on it, literally, to see what he has to go through to put all these things together. It was quite interesting, great people involved there. They obviously reached out to me, knowing that I wasn’t real comfortable doing those kinds of things. But they made it as comfortable as possible.”

You wouldn’t be able to tell that Reid was out of his element, but you never know how many takes it took to get things perfect. Overall, he seemed to have quite a bit of fun with the experience. Who knows, maybe he’ll even do more advertisements in the future.

State Farm has the NBA Draft ‘pick is in’ jingle, will soon embed itself into our brains

Like a good neighbor, the NBA Draft is there.

If you’ve watched any sort of NBA basketball lately, you’ve undoubtedly run into more than a few State Farm insurance commercials. The company is sure to make “Jake from State Farm” — their photogenic spokesman — a permanent imprint in the minds of hoops fans.

When we tune in to watch the 2022 NBA Draft on Thursday night, hoping to see where future fixtures like Jabari Smith and Paolo Banchero will end up, State Farm’s grasp on our attention will be inescapable.

For the first time in the draft’s history, the “pick is in” jingle will be State Farm’s trademark bell. That’s right, with every selection, we will have been advertised insurance. I’d imitate what that bell sounds like, but I haven’t personally been brainwashed by fantastic low rates (wait a minute) just yet:

Like a good neighbor, the NBA apparently wants to monetize every last second of a broadcast, shamelessly making sure advertisements are pumped into our brains with regularity.

Like a good neighbor, the NBA Draft is there.

Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

Oh no. It’s already happening.

Could LeBron James Have Played Football at Notre Dame?

Those who have followed LeBron James closely know he was as equally talented at football in high school as he was at basketball.

Those who have followed LeBron James closely know he was as equally talented at football in high school as he was at basketball. People often ask what would have happened had he gone further on the gridiron than St. Vincent-St. Mary’s receiver. Alas, he chose the hardwood, and the sports world is better for it. The closest we ever got to see him play football on a national stage came in a State Farm commercial:

Way before fully committing to basketball, James was recruited as a football player. Patrick Schmidt of FanSided resurrected a 2016 ESPN story of how Urban Meyer pursued James while he was Notre Dame’s receivers coach. What Meyer didn’t realize while making his pitch was that his recruit was turning far more heads in his other sport. That James was in attendance the night Meyers and Ohio State won the 2014 national championship had to be a small consolation.

Many believe James would have been a prolific NFL tight end had things gone differently. In an alternate universe, imagine him suiting up for the Irish along his journey. Could he have helped save Tyrone Willingham’s job or prolong Charlie Weis’ time in South Bend? We’ll never know, but that’s how it should be.

NFL fans had so many jokes about missing out on a Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers ‘State Farm Bowl’

We were so close.

On Sunday afternoon, one piece of the Super Bowl LIV puzzle had been put into place: the Kansas City Chiefs had clinched a spot with Patrick Mahomes.

NFL fans wondered if Aaron Rodgers would follow suit in the NFC championship game with a Green Bay Packers win over the San Francisco 49ers, but nope! The Niners are off to Miami.

That robbed us of seeing a Super Bowl with the two quarterback stars of State Farm’s latest ad campaign, in which Rodgers and Mahomes share the same agent, Gabe. The spots were everywhere during football season, especially in the playoffs … and lots of folks spent Sunday night joking about how we missed out on the State Farm Bowl:
