The Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers meet Sunday in Game 6 of their best-of-7 Western Conference Final, which the Oilers lead 3-2. Puck drop from Rogers Place is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Oilers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Oilers took Game 5 on the road 3-1 as +107 underdogs and the Under (5.5) cashed. Heading into the game, the talking heads and fans were down on Oilers G Stuart Skinner, but he was remarkable in the pivotal game, stopping 19 of 20 shots. Edmonton fired out to a 3-0 lead, scoring once in the 1st period and twice in the 2nd period, and held on for the 3-1 victory — the host Stars scored with 5:51 to go in the 3rd.

Edmonton C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins knocked in 2 power-play goals — for a 2-0 lead early in the 2nd — while D Philip Broberg added his 1st-career postseason goal as the Oilers stunned the Stars and their home crowd.

The Stars are 1-0 in elimination games this season, edging the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 7 in the opening round. Dallas is 4-9 in the past 13 games when facing elimination, while Edmonton is 4-0 in the past 4 closeout games, including 2-0 this postseason.

Stars at Oilers projected goalies

Jake Oettinger (10-8-0, 2.25 GAA, .917 SV% — 2024 playoffs) vs. Stuart Skinner (10-5-0, 2.60 GAA, .890 SV%, 1 SO — 2024 playoffs)

Oettinger has tailed off a bit, although his overall numbers are pretty good. The Dallas tendy has allowed 10 goals on 84 shots in the past 3 games, losing each of the past 2 outings. That includes 7 goals allowed on 58 shots in the past 2 visits to Edmonton.

After back-to-back losses in Games 2 and 3, the much-maligned Skinner bounced back with consecutive wins, allowing just 3 goals on 42 shots in Games 4 and 5 — he allowed 2 goals on 22 shots in Game 4.

Stars at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 3, Stars 2

Moneyline

The OILERS (-135) are a strong play at home against the Stars (+115) in this elimination game.

Edmonton carries the hopes of an entire nation on its shoulder, as Canada hasn’t had a Stanley Cup winner since 1993. It appears the Oilers are in good shape to play for Lord Stanley’s Cup as it has 2 chances to close out the Stars.

The Oilers have won both closeout games so far in these playoffs, and they’re a good play in front of the home fans in Game 6.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Stars +1.5 (-225) will cost more than 2 times your potential return — if you require a little bit of insurance and you can’t back Dallas straight up.

The Oilers -1.5 (+180) can’t be trusted, although they’re quite a tempting play for the chance to nearly double up. Still, this should be a tight, low-scoring battle in Alberta. Edmonton has been involved in 1-goal games in 9 of its past 14 postseason contests, although the past 4 games have been decided by 2 or more goals.

PASS.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-115) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

The Under cashed in Game 5, and that’s typical as a series goes deeper. We see less wide-open play, and more physicality, hitting, defense and goaltending as a series rolls along.

The Under is 6-2-1 in the past 9 games for the Oilers. However, the Over is 6-1-1 in 8 postseason home games, so tread lightly.

Dallas Stars at Edmonton Oilers Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Dallas Stars at Edmonton Oilers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers meet Wednesday in Game 4 of their best-of-7 Western Conference Final, which the Stars lead 2-1. Puck drop from Rogers Place is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Oilers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Stars stormed back from a 2-0 first-period deficit to upend the Oilers 5-3 in Game 3. LW Jason Robertson busted out with a hat trick, including a ridiculous goal he jammed in the smallest nook and cranny behind G Stuart Skinner. The Stars have recaptured home-ice advantage and look to put the Oilers on the brink if they can take Game 4. The Over cashed for the 1st time in the series.

LW Zach Hyman and C Connor McDavid got the home side off and racing with a couple of goals in the 1st. The Stars roared back and outscored them 5-1 the rest of the way. Skinner allowed 4 goals on 21 shots. It was the first time he allowed 3+ goals in 4 outings. The Oilers are 0-for-5 on the power play in the series, which is something they will have to improve upon if they want to compete in the series.

Stars at Oilers projected goalies

Jake Oettinger (10-6-0, 2.09 GAA, .923 SV% – 2024 playoffs) vs. Stuart Skinner (8-5-0, 2.76 GAA, .885 SV%, 1 SO – 2024 playoffs)

Dallas has lost Game 1 in every series the last 2 playoffs, but “Otter” always rights the ship. He has stopped 28+ shots in 4 straight games. He has stopped 91 of 97 shots in the series for a .938 SV%.

The 4 goals Skinner allowed in Game 2 was the most he has allowed since Game 1 of the previous series. He has stopped 70 of 78 shots in the series for an .897 SV%. He could have a short leash in Game 4 before Calvin Pickard is deployed.

Stars at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 4, Stars 3

Moneyline

The Oilers have to make a stand here. If they can take this one and tie it at 2, they go back to Dallas in essentially the same position they were in for Game 1, but it’s just a best-of-3 series at that point.

Game 2 was the only meeting in the last 10 meetings between the teams where we had fewer than 5 goals. So let’s go hard here.

Take OILERS + OVER 4.5 GOALS (+110) for a plus-money return.

Puck line/Against the spread

Hyman is going to have to continue to be a force in this series. C Leon Draisaitl has just 1 goal in the last 6 games, and now is the time to turn it up a notch.

Hyman has 4+ shots on goal in 4 of the last 5 games. Take ZACH HYMAN OVER 3.5 SHOTS (-125).

Over/Under

As mentioned, there were 5+ goals in 9 of 10 meetings. There were 6+ goals in 7 of those 10. At an even 6, I like the Over here, but if it were to swell to 6.5, I would stay away.

Take the OVER 6 (+100).

Dallas Stars at Edmonton Oilers Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Dallas Stars at Edmonton Oilers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers meet Monday in Game 3 of their best-of-7 Western Conference Final, which is tied 1-1. Puck drop from Rogers Place is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Oilers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Stars bounced back from Thursday’s 3-2, Game 1 loss in 2OT by posting a 3-1 win Saturday in Game 2 on home ice to salvage a split. The Oilers still were able to seize home-ice advantage with the win in the series opener. The Under cashed in both outings.

Dallas has limited the opposition to just a single goal 4 times in the past 6 playoff games since Game 3 of the Colorado series. The Under is on a 4-1-1 run in the past 6 games and is 9-4-1 across the past 14 outings.

Edmonton has allowed 3 or fewer goals in 6 consecutive outings, and the Under is on a 5-0-1 run in the span. At home, the Oilers have picked up wins in 3 of the past 4 games. The Over us 4-1-1 in 6 home outings in these playoffs.

Stars at Oilers projected goalies

Jake Oettinger (9-6-0, 2.04 GAA, .922 SV% — 2024 playoffs) vs. Stuart Skinner (8-4-0, 2.65 GAA, .890 SV%, 1 SO — 2024 playoffs)

Oettinger allowed just a single goal on 29 shots in the Game 2 victory against the Oilers, and he has allowed exactly 1 goal 4 times in the past 6 playoff starts. He has made 28 or more saves in 3 straight contests, and he and the Stars have won 3 straight games on the road.

Skinner has won 3 of the past 4 games since returning to the lineup in Game 6 of the Vancouver series after being benched for 2 games. He has allowed a total of just 7 goals on 89 shots in the 4 starts, going 3-1 with a 1.62 GAA and .921 SV% since returning to the starting job.

Stars at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 3, Stars 2

Moneyline

The OILERS (-125) are worth a look in Game 3 on home ice.

Edmonton did a good job gaining the road split in Dallas, seizing home-ice advantage from the Stars. Now, the Oilers look to keep that advantage in their 1st home date of the series.

Edmonton has won 3 of the past 4 games at home, and it is 4-2 in 6 home dates in the postseason.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Stars +1.5 (-250) will cost 2½ times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk if you require insurance and don’t want to play Dallas straight up.

The Oilers have been involved in 1-goal games in 4 of the past 5 at Rogers Place, while 9 of the past 11 playoff games have also been 1-goal games for Edmonton. So, expect this one to be close.

PASS.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-105) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

We have seen the Under cash in 2 straight games in this series, while the total has gone low at a 5-0-1 clip in the past 6 playoff outings for the Oilers.

The Under is 3-0 in the past 3 games for the Stars, too, while cashing at a 4-1-1 clip in the past 6 outings.

Dallas Stars at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Dallas Stars at Edmonton Oilers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Dallas Stars (43-28-5) battle the Edmonton Oilers (44-26-6) Wednesday at Rogers Place. Puck drop is slated for 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Stars vs. Oilers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

Dallas is coming off a 6-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks Monday as they can’t seem to string wins together. They are 5-3-2 in the last 10 games and sit four points ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights and Canucks for the final playoff spot and the rights to face the Colorado Avalanche.

Edmonton has won two 4-0 games in a row the Golden Knights and Nashville Predators and have won eight of 10. They are two points ahead of the Los Angeles Kings for the second spot in the Pacific Division. So this game will be important for both squads. C Connor McDavid is going through a dry patch with no goals and 2 assists in his last four games.

Stars at Oilers odds and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:25 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Stars +133 (bet $100 to win $133) | Oilers -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Stars +1.5 (-200) | Oilers -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +112 | U: -140)

Stars at Oilers projected goalies

Jake Oettinger (27-14-1, 2.56 GAA, .913 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Mike Smith (13-9-2, 2.91 GAA, .911 SV%, 2 SO)

The 23-year-old Oettinger will be grinding his skates to get back onto the ice after he was pulled from his start against the Canucks Monday after allowing 4 goals in 30 minutes of play. He’s 3-3-0 with a 3.11 GAA and .890 SV% in April – peripherals that are a little higher than the rest of his fabulous season. He’s 2-0 with a 2.00 GAA against Edmonton this year. He stopped 22 of 25 against them in a 5-3 win March 22.

Smith is coming off consecutive shutouts over two quality teams in the Golden Knights and Predators. He’s 6-0 with a 1.49 GAA in April, stats that include a 5-goal outing against the St. Louis Blues. The 40-year-old is peaking at the right time.

[tipico]

Stars at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 3, Oilers 2

Money line

This game will be won or lost on the back of Oettinger. Dallas needs this game more, but he’s going to have to keep Edmonton under 3 goals. Dallas has won half their games in the last 10, but they have scored just 2.6 goals per game along that span. C Joe Pavelski had a goal and an assist last time the Stars beat the Oilers, and he’ll lead the charge again. LEAN STARS (+135).

Against the spread

Four of the last five Stars victories have been by 1 goal, and they lose a lot of 1-goal games. That +1.5 (-200) would be useful here, but we’re just going to stick to the money line instead of risking double your take. PASS.

Over/Under

The juice is rightfully on the Under here, despite the 8 goals last time these teams met. The Oilers are crazy inconsistent. During the last 10 games, they have a four-game stretch where they scored 22 goals and a four-game window they scored 7 goals. The Under has hit in three of the last four between these two squads and it has also hit in the last six for Edmonton. LEAN UNDER 6.5 (-140).
