The Los Angeles Dodgers (28-17) play the 2nd game of a 4-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals (19-26) on Friday at Busch Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Dodgers vs. Cardinals odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Dodgers lead 3-1

The Dodgers were blown out 16-8 by the Cardinals Thursday in the series opener. Los Angeles is 7-3 in its last 10 contests and is 2.5 games ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks for 1st place in the NL West.

The Cardinals hit 7 home runs in Thursday’s victory. 3B Nolan Arenado remains one of the hottest hitters in baseball recently and has hit a home run in 6 of his last 7 games.

Dodgers at Cardinals projected starters

RHP Tony Gonsolin vs. LHP Steven Matz

Gonsolin (1-1, 1.42 ERA) makes his 5th start. He has a 0.95 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 7.6 K/9 through 19 IP.

  • Outside of allowing 3 ER on May 1 vs. the Philadelphia Phillies, he hasn’t given up an ER in his other 3 starts
  • Has registered 6-plus K’s in back-to-back starts

Matz (0-4, 5.62 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 1.61 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 8.0 K/9 through 41 2/3 IP.

  • Has surrendered 3-plus ER in 5 of his first 8 starts
  • Owns a 3-1 record with a 3.68 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 10.4 K/9 in 5 career starts against the Dodgers

Dodgers at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Dodgers 6, Cardinals 4

Moneyline

With the struggles that Matz has had on the mound this season, the DODGERS (-130) are the pick in Friday’s matchup. The Dodgers are 11-9 on the road this season compared to the Cardinals being 8-14 at home.

Los Angeles is also 5-0 in Gonsolin’s last 5 road starts against a team with a losing record and is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings with St. Louis overall.

Run line/Against the spread

DODGERS -1.5 (+125) has solid value with Gonsolin performing well in recent starts since returning from an injury. While the Dodgers struggled against southpaws earlier this season, they have the 8th-best wRC+ (134) against left-handed pitchers in May (195 plate appearances).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

OVER 8.5 (-120) is how I’d wager on the run total with the Dodgers performing better against lefties recently. The Dodgers are 5-1-1 to the Over in Gonsolin’s last 5 starts against teams from the NL Central and the Cardinals are 6-3 to the Over in their last 9 games overall.

Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Milwaukee Brewers (24-18) close out a 3-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals (17-26) on Wednesday at Busch Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Brewers vs. Cardinals odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 3-2

The Brewers squeaked out a 3-2 win over the Cardinals Tuesday as they bounced back from an 18-1 defeat in the series opener on Monday. Milwaukee has posted a 6-4 record in its last 10 contests.

The Cardinals had their 4-game win streak snapped with Tuesday’s loss. Despite the team’s struggles this season, St. Louis has gone 7-3 in its last 10 games.

Brewers at Cardinals projected starters

RHP Corbin Burnes vs. LHP Matthew Liberatore

Burnes (4-2, 3.35 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 7.7 K/9 through 45 2/3 IP.

  • Has walked 3-plus batters in 4 of his first 8 starts
  • His 7.7 K/9 is his lowest mark since 2018 when he notched an 8.3 K/9 as a rookie reliever

Liberatore (0-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his 1st start of the 2023 season. He had a 4-1 record with a 3.13 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 11.0 K/9 through 46 IP in 8 starts at Triple-A this season.

  • Registered a 2-2 record with a 5.97 ERA, 1.73 WHIP, 4.7 BB/9, and 7.3 K/9 in 34 2/3 in 7 starts and 2 relief appearances for the Cardinals last season
  • Has logged 6-plus K’s in 7 of his 8 starts at Triple-A this season

Brewers at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 4, Brewers 3

Moneyline

There is value in taking the CARDINALS (+100) in Wednesday’s NL Central showdown even with Burnes on the mound for the Brewers. The Brewers have the 3rd-worst wRC+ (77) against left-handed pitching and the Cardinals have the 3rd-best wRC+ (116) against right-handed pitching.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

Despite having the Cardinals securing the win at home, the Brewers should keep this game close enough to cover the spread. That being said, I wouldn’t advise wagering on Milwaukee +1.5 (-165) at the current odds.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

UNDER 8 (-115) is the lean in this game with Burnes still limiting runs despite his lower strikeout totals and Milwaukee’s woes against southpaws. The Under is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings overall.

Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Milwaukee Brewers (23-17) begin a 3-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals (16-25) on Monday at Busch Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Brewers vs. Cardinals odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 2-1

The Brewers secured a 9-6 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, giving them 3 straight wins and their first series sweep since a 3-game set over the Seattle Mariners from April 17-19. Milwaukee is just 5-5 in its last 10 contests despite it’s recent success.

The Cardinals defeated the Boston Red Sox 9-1 Sunday to complete the series sweep and extend their win streak to 3 games. St. Louis has won 6 of its last 7 games but is just 6-4 in its last 10 contests.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Brewers at Cardinals projected starters

RHP Freddy Peralta vs. RHP Jack Flaherty

Peralta (4-2, 3.32 ERA) makes his 8th start. He has a 1.21 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 10.2 K/9 through 40 2/3 IP.

  • Has tallied 5-plus K’s in 6 of his first 7 starts
  • Owns a 3-4 record with a 5.94 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 10.5 K/9 in 9 starts and 4 relief appearances in his career against the Cardinals.

Flaherty (2-4, 6.18 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 1.73 WHIP, 6.2 BB/9 and 8.9 K/9 through 39 1/3 IP.

  • Has walked 2-plus batters in 6 of his first 8 starts
  • Given up 3-plus ER in 5 straight turns
  • Boasts a 3-7 record with a 4.92 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 11.4 K/9 in 16 career starts and 1 relief appearance against the Brewers

Brewers at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 6, Cardinals 4

Moneyline

Considering the pitchers that are on the mound for each team in this NL Central tilt, I’ll take the BREWERS (-115) on the road. Milwaukee is 10-9 on the road compared to St. Louis being 6-13 at home this season.

Run line/Against the spread

BREWERS -1.5 (+145) is a fantastic value with Flaherty pitching for the Cardinals Monday. The left-handed bats in Milwaukee’s lineup have been rolling recently, especially OF Christian Yelich.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

OVER 8 (-115) is how I’d bet the run total with Flaherty giving up runs at an alarming rate in recent starts. Even with Peralta being solid to start the season, the Cardinals have plated 46 runs over their last 7 games and should be able to help this number along.

The Over is also 5-0 in Flaherty’s last 5 starts.

Angels at Cardinals projected starters

RHP Shohei Ohtani vs. RHP Miles Mikolas

Ohtani (4-0, 1.85 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 0.82 WHIP, 4.5 BB/9 and 12.2 K/9 through 34 IP.

  • Allowed a combined 2 ER on 8 H with 15 BB and 38 K in 28 IP in his first 5 starts
  • Gave up 5 ER on 3 H with 2 BB and 8 K in 6 IP but was credited with the win vs. the Oakland Athletics Thursday

Mikolas (1-1, 5.97 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.71 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 8.2 K/9 through 31 2/3 IP.

  • His last start vs. the San Francisco Giants Thursday was his 1st start this season where he didn’t allow multiple ER as he tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings

Angels at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Angels 5, Cardinals 2

Moneyline

BET ANGELS (-145).

Ohtani is on the mound for the Angels and the Cardinals have a struggling Mikolas on the bump. St. Louis is only 5-9 at home this season compared to Los Angeles being 8-9 on the road.

Run line/Against the spread

ANGELS -1.5 (+115) is a nice value at plus money, especially with Ohtani pitching. Ohtani has allowed multiple ER in only 1 start this season while Mikolas has only 1 start where he hasn’t given up multiple ER.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

UNDER 7.5 (+100) is the lean in this matchup as it’ll likely take plenty of runs from the Angels to hit the Over. The Under is 6-0-1 in Ohtani’s last 7 road starts against a team with a losing record and the Cardinals are 6-2 to the Under in their last 8 games.

Cardinals at Dodgers picks and predictions

Prediction

Dodgers 7, Cardinals 5

Moneyline

DODGERS (-150) is the pick with how these teams have performed recently. Los Angeles is 8-6 at home while St. Louis is 5-10 on the road.

Run line/Against the spread

Pirates at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 7, Pirates 3

Moneyline

AVOID.

Betting on the Cardinals (-250) to win straight up isn’t advised despite their clear pitching advantage in this matchup.

Run line/Against the spread

BET CARDINALS -1.5 (-125).

The Cardinals will have arguably their best pitcher on the mound in Montgomery and Velasquez has struggled to begin the season for the Pirates. Even when Velasquez exits the game, St. Louis should also have success against Pittsburgh’s bullpen.

Over/Under

OVER 8.5 (-110) is the play in this NL Central showdown. The Cardinals are swinging a hot bat and they have a few guys who have had plenty of success in their careers against Velasquez.

The Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these teams in St. Louis and 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings overall. The Pirates are also 8-1-1 to the Over in their last 10 games against a southpaw.

The St. Louis Cardinals (2-5) will take on the Milwaukee Brewers (6-1) in the 2nd game of a 3-game series on Saturday at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. The Cardinals were shut out 4-0 by the Brewers Friday with RHP Jack Flaherty issuing 6 BB, giving him 13 BB in 2 starts this season. St. Louis has lost 4 consecutive games and has been outscored 21-7 in those games.

RHP Brandon Woodruff recorded 4 K, 2 BB, and 0 ER in 5 1/3 IP in Friday’s win. Milwaukee has strung together 6 straight wins after losing on Opening Day to the Chicago Cubs.

Montgomery (1-0, 5.40 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 1.40 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9 and 5.4 K/9 through 5 IP.

  • Was credited with the win in his season debut despite allowing 6 H and 3 ER to the Toronto Blue Jays Apr. 2.
  • Has allowed 2 ER or more in 5 straight starts for the Cardinals dating back to last season.

Lauer (1-0, 3.38 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 1.31 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 10.1 K/9 through 5 1/3 IP.

Cardinals at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 6, Brewers 4

Moneyline

With the success that St. Louis has had against Lauer in his career, I’ll back the CARDINALS (-145) on the road despite the recent struggles. I would bet the Cardinals’ money line up to -150 odds.

Run line/Against the spread

CARDINALS -1.5 (+110) has decent value with how well St. Louis performs against southpaws. The Cardinals slashed .263/.343/.465 against lefties in 2022 and have most of their lineup back this season.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

OVER 8.5 (-115) is the play in this game with both teams having average lefties on the mound. The Brewers haven’t excelled against southpaws in recent years, but they have a different lineup than last season.

There have been 9-plus runs scored in 3 of the 4 home games the Brewers have played this season.

Braves at Cardinals projected starters

LHP Dylan Dodd vs. LHP Steven Matz

Dodd will make his major league debut on Tuesday. He recorded a 3.36 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 2 BB/9, and 9.7 K/9 in 142 IP in the minors in 2022.

  • Was 12-9 in 26 starts in the minors last season

Matz notched a 5-3 record in 10 starts in 2022 with a 5.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9, and 10.1 K/9 in 48 IP.

Braves at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 6, Braves 5

Moneyline

With Dodd making his debut in the majors, I’ll lean toward taking the CARDINALS (-140) at home. St. Louis has excelled against southpaws in recent years.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

Both Dodd and Matz are tough to trust on Tuesday, so I’m not comfortable taking the spread for either team in this matchup.

Over/Under

OVER 9 (-120) is a high total, but the pitchers in this matchup could struggle against loaded lineups. The Cardinals led the league with a .202 ISO and a 131 wRC+ against LHP in 2022.

The Braves finished 5th in ISO (.179) and wRC+ (118) against lefties in 2022, so plenty of runs could be scored in Tuesday’s bout.

Philadelphia Phillies at St. Louis Cardinals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Philadelphia Phillies at St. Louis Cardinals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Philadelphia Phillies (46-40) and the St. Louis Cardinals (46-42) wrap up a 4-game wraparound set Monday at Busch Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Phillies vs. Cardinals odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Phillies lead series 4-2

The Phillies won the first 2 games of this series with shutouts, posting a 2-0 win Friday, and a 1-0 win behind RHP Kyle Gibson Saturday. The Under has hit in 5 straight for Philadelphia.

The Cardinals exacted a little revenge with a 4-3 win on Sunday afternoon. The Under has cashed in 8 in a row, and 11 of the past 12 for the Cards.

Phillies vs. Cardinals projected starters

RHP Aaron Nola vs. RHP Miles Mikolas

Nola (5-6, 3.15 ERA) makes his 18th start of the season. He has a 0.93 WHIP, 1.2 BB/9 and 9.7 K/9 through 111 1/3 IP.

  • Is just 2-4 in 8 starts over 55 IP, but he has a sparkling 2.13 ERA with 61 K.
  • Lost last time out in a quality start, allowing 3 ER, 7 H and 1 BB across 7 2/3 IP against the Washington Nationals Wednesday.

Mikolas (5-7, 2.72 ERA) makes his 18th start of the season. He has a 0.99 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9 and 7.1 K/9 through 106 IP.

  • Is 2-2 with a 2.60 ERA and .191 opponent batting average in 52 IP across 8 home starts.
  • Allowed 4 R (2 ER) with 6 H and 2 BB across 5 1/3 IP in a loss at Philadelphia on July 1.

Phillies vs. Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 3, Phillies 2

Money line

The CARDINALS (-105) are a decent play as short ‘dogs at home in what should be a well-pitched affair. The Phillies (-115) are a solid 4-1 in the past 5 road outings, while going 14-5 in the past 19 against teams with a winning record.

While the Cardinals have struggled, especially to score runs lately, they’ll do a decent job behind Mikolas at home.

Run line/Against the spread

The Cardinals +1.5 (-190) will cost you nearly two times your potential return if you’d like a little insurance and do not trust them straight up. It’s not a recommended play, however.

PASS.

Over/Under

The UNDER 7.5 (-107) is the way to be.

The Under has cashed in 5 in a row for Philadelphia, while going 5-0 in the past 5 vs. RHP, too.

For St. Louis, the Under is 8-0 in the past 8 against winning teams while going 11-1 in the past 12 against teams with a winning overall record. The Under is 7-0 in the past 7 vs. RHP, too.

St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (4-4) host the St. Louis Cardinals (4-2) Saturday at American Family Field for the third game of their four-game series. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Cardinals vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: 1-1

St. Louis evened the series Friday by crushing Milwaukee 10-1 and the Cardinals’ lineup beat up Brewers RHP Freddy Peralta early. Peralta surrendered 6 ER in just 3 IP on 7 H and 2 BB with 4 K. Cardinals 3B Nolan Arenado lead the way with a 2-for-3 game with 1 HR, 2 BB and 3 RBIs.

Cardinals at Brewers: Projected starters

LHP Steven Matz vs. RHP Adrian Houser

Matz (0-1, 21.00 ERA) took a loss in his season debut Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-4. He allowed 7 ER on 9 H and 1 BB with 5 K in 3 IP.

  • vs. Brewers on the current roster: 3.59 FIP with a .266 batting average (BA), .315 wOBA, .381 expected slugging percentage (xSLG), 18.9 K% and 86.6 mph exit velocity (EV) in 74 plate appearances (PA).

Houser (0-1, 4.91 ERA) lost at the Baltimore Orioles Monday 2-0 with 3 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 3 BB and 3 K.

  • 2021 vs. Cardinals: 3-0 with a 0.36 ERA (25 IP, 1 ER), 1.00 WHIP and 5.0 K/9 over four starts.
  • vs. Cardinals on the current roster: 3.67 FIP with a .238 BA, .288 wOBA, .391 xSLG, 17.6 K% and 87.8 mph EV in 136 PA.

Cardinals at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 5, Brewers 2

Money line

BET the CARDINALS (+100) for 1 unit because there’s reverse line movement headed towards St. Louis, the Brewers struggle versus lefty pitching and April is Houser’s worst month.

Nearly 70% of the money is on the Brewers according to pregame.com, but they’ve gone from a -125 ML favorite on the opener down to the current number. It’s a red flag whenever the sportsbooks make the more popular side cheaper and my instinct is to get on the same side as the House.

The market’s preference of Milwaukee here makes sense because Houser pitched lights out versus St. Louis in 2021 and the Brew Crew are the reigning NL Central champions.

However, Milwaukee’s lineup can’t hit left-handed pitching. Since the beginning of last season, the Brewers are 26th in wRC+ and 24th in wOBA against lefty pitching, according to Fangraphs.

BET the CARDINALS (+100).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS with a “lean” towards the Cardinals -1.5 (+160) since it’s a chunk payout and six of the last seven Cardinals-Brewers meetings have been decided by more than 1 run.

But, Houser did pitch well versus St. Louis last season and Milwaukee’s lineup is above-average on paper so the Brew Crew can sneak in the backdoor for an RL cover.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 8.5 (-125) since the oddsmakers are trying to steer bettors away from the Over but heavily juicing the Under.

Nearly 90% of the money is on the Under while a slight majority of the bets placed are on the Over. Typically, the cash column of betting splits represents professional money so the UNDER 8.5 (-125) is the sharper bet. However, my favorite wager in this game is St. Louis’s ML.
