On Tuesday Rutgers baseball (25-16, 7-5) extended its winning streak to six games with a 3-1 victory over St. Johns (19-19, 2-7) at Jack Kaiser Stadium in Queens, N.Y. The Scarlet Knights were down to their last out when Rutgers’ freshman Trevor Cohen hit a bases-clearing double, giving the Scarlet Knights a 3-1 victory.
Rutgers starting pitcher Jake Marshall held St. Johns to one hit through three scoreless innings. The Scarlet Knights went through seven pitchers, letting up only one run on six hits, striking out eight. Freshman right handed pitcher Ethan Bowen picked up his first win of the season, with junior Ben Gorski picking up his fifth save.
The Scarlet Knights’ bats were quiet in this game, only producing four hits. The Scarlet Knights forced three walks in the top of the ninth inning, loading the bases for Cohen. Cohen played hero, hitting a bases-loaded double off the right field wall giving Rutgers a 3-1 lead. Gorski closed the door for the Scarlet Knights, striking out the first batter, followed by a pair of flyouts.

Rutgers have won 10 of their last 11 games, holding onto a six-game winning streak. The Scarlet Knights are back in action this Friday as they hit the road to take on the Purdue Boilermakers (19-20, 8-7) for a three-game series in West Lafayette, Indiana.
