Buffalo Bills training camp appears likely to begin on July 25 in 2023, according to bylaws from the NFL and NFLPA.

Via the Buffalo News, the agreement between the league and players’ association states there must be 48 days between the first day of training camp and first game of the season. For the Bills and New York Jets, who Buffalo face in Week 1 on Monday Night Football, that’s July 25:

At this time, the team has yet to officially announced training camp’s start date, but it’s expected to be July 25 per rule.

Included in training camp will be another trip out to St. John Fisher College, as  the school and team announced they will return again during the 2023 summer. It’s unclear exactly how long the stay at the college will be, but Bills Wire will provide that update when information is made available.

Bills confirm 2023 training camp will take place at St. John Fisher

#Bills confirm 2023 training camp will take place at St. John Fisher, but we’re still waiting for more details:

The Buffalo Bills will head out to the Rochester area for training camp again in 2023.

The team announced on Monday that the Bills will be at St. John Fisher University for training camp. However, the amount of time and schedule had not been confirmed.

In addition, the message the team released indicated that the adventure down the thruway is only pending for 2023, not beyond:

A report in early April suggested this would be the exact scenario, the Bills were set to return but only for 2023. The announcement from the Bills confirms that. While potentially worrisome, the two sides came to a similar agreement a year ago and the Bills are back.

For two summers during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bills held training camp back in the team’s facilities in Orchard Park.

Since Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane have taken over their respective positions in Buffalo’s front office, the club has cut back appearances out in Rochester during the summer. They’ve appeared to prefer having it held in Orchard Park, but never outwardly say that.

St. John Fisher began hosting Buffalo for training camp in 2000. Prior to that, it was held at Fredonia State (1981-1999) and Niagara University (1968-1980).

Official: Bills will return to St. John Fisher for 2022 training camp

The #Bills will be back at Fisher:

The Buffalo Bills will officially return to training camp at St. John Fisher College.

In recent weeks, there had been reports that the team and school were in discussions to bring training camp back to the campus.

The Bills made it official on Saturday that they will return there for 2022:

Over the past week the Bills brass had been in Indianapolis for the 2022 NFL scouting combine. There, Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane confirmed there had been talks about potentially heading back to the Rochester area.

He did note that keeping it in Orchard Park, at the team’s facilities there, where it had been during the pandemic, was an option.

In the end the Bills evidently decided that heading back to St. John Fisher will be the pick. However, it’s likely that portions of camp will be in Orchard Park as well.

Bills Wire will report more details on training camp as information is made available by the team.

Early reports suggested up to two weeks of it could be held at St. John Fisher College.

11 takeaways from Sean McDermott’s offseason presser

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott takeaways from his 2020 offseason press conference.

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott had a press conference on Wednesday via video chat with members of the western New York media. The coach gave answers on many topics, including both on-field and off-field things.

Here are 11 takeaways from McDermott’s offseason presser:

Social unrest

The most-discussed topic for the Bills coach was one of the off-field nature. With the ongoing social unrest across the country following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, McDermott answered several questions relating to the topic.

McDermott said he had a team meeting in regard to it, and referenced some good resources at his disposal in handling such meetings. One of the other leaders of the team, defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, was someone the coach and organization as a whole leans and he’s been a highly-respected figure across the NFL for years. In addition, McDermott said the experiences he’s had holding similar meetings with his team in regard to social issues, referencing Colin Kaepernick in 2017, helped guide him in handling the current situation.

On seeing the video of Floyd and the Minneapolis police, McDermott said: “I was disappointed, disgusted and ashamed.”

Bills won’t have training camp at St. John Fisher College

Buffalo Bills, NFL will have 2020 training camps at home.

The Buffalo Bills will not be headed out to Pittsford for training camp this summer due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the NFL announced on Tuesday.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL has told all clubs that they must conduct their summer training camps at their team facility this offseason. This means the Bills will not take their camp to St. John Fisher College and will have to hold it at One Bills Drive in Orchard Park.

The Bills have had training camp at Fisher since 2000 in an effort to connect to the team’s fan base in the Rochester area. In 2019, nine NFL teams, in total, held their training camp away from their home facility.

During recent training camps, the Bills have the trimming their schedule at Fisher, and have done so the most since Bills head coach Sean McDermott took over. Last year’s camp only saw eight practices and no night practices, the oft-popular ones. The only night practice open to the public was held at New Era Field. But the Bills did hold joint-practices with the Panthers last year as well down at Wofford College.
