Sora from ‘Kingdom Hearts’ joined the cast of ‘Smash Bros. Ultimate’ and fans went wild

Simple and Clean better be on the soundtrack.

After years of fan campaigning, Sora of Kingdom Hearts  fame is coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Nintendo announced on Tuesday that everyone’s favorite keyblade wielder is joining the roster, and fans went bananas.

Masahiro Sakurai, Super Smash Bros Ultimate’s  game director, was quite excited to finally reveal the 82nd and final character to be added to the game. Primarily because fans had wanted Sora added to Smash Brothers  before Ultimate  itself was even announced. Well, it finally happened, and Twitter could barely contain its excitement. Can you blame them, though? Some have been waiting for this for well over a decade!

Check out Sora’s Super Smash Bros Ultimate announcement trailer for yourself below.

It’s still a surreal sight to see.

Of course, it’s one thing to talk about fan frenzy, and it’s another to witness it first-hand. So below, you’ll find a handy little curated list of how people are reacting to Sora in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Most of it is overwhelmingly positive, with a little bit of salt sprinkled in for good measure from DOOMCrash Bandicoot, and, um, Waluigi fans sad that their favorite characters didn’t make the cut. Regardless, the memes are incredible.

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ isn’t working for some Xbox Game Pass subscribers

Earth’s mightiest heroes are experiencing connection issues.

Marvel’s Avengers  came to Xbox Game Pass on Thursday, and many people are saying it’s not working. Specifically, the game itself isn’t downloading at all for subscribers.

Over on  r/XboxGamePass, there are loads of posts claiming Marvel’s Avengers either stops downloading before it’s finished or won’t begin downloading at all. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason behind the failing downloads, and the problems don’t appear to affect other games on Xbox Game Pass.

“I’ve tried downloading marvel avengers twice now,” user General_Media_3544  said. “It gets to about 10-15GB and just says installation stopped and starts over again.”

“I’ve been trying since Saturday to sort it and nothing works,” user dwm94  said in another thread about the issues. Others  are claiming  the game will nearly finish downloading before it fails. That’s a big deal when you consider that Marvel’s Avengers is a 125GB download.

Most of these posts don’t specify a platform, so there’s no telling if the problems are on Xbox, PC, or both.

Neither developer Crystal Dynamics nor publisher Square Enix has said anything about these problems yet, so it’s hard to tell if the right people are even aware. Considering Marvel’s Avengers  joining Xbox Game Pass was seen by many as a second chance for the struggling beat’em up, it’s unfortunate that some are running into issues.

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ will come to Xbox Game Pass soon

Game Pass subscribers will get access to earth’s mightiest heroes for free.

Marvel’s Avengers came out just over a year ago, and now it’s heading to Xbox Game Pass. Developer Crystal Dynamics is celebrating the game’s one-year anniversary by bringing it to Microsoft’s wildly popular subscription service.

On Sept. 30, Marvel’s Avengers and all of its DLC, including the recent Black Panther: War for Wakanda expansion, will be free for anyone with an Xbox Game Pass subscription. Xbox Series X|S owners will also get an enhanced version of Marvel’s Avengers to take advantage of the extra technical muscle of the new console generation.

Check out the game’s flashy anniversary trailer for yourself below.

“Every player with an Xbox Game Pass membership can experience the full game and all our post-launch Heroes and missions,” Hunter Wolfe, community coordinator at Crystal Dynamics, said on an Xbox Wire post.

Wolfe continued: “This includes four story campaigns that showcase one or more Hero’s unique abilities, as well as our Avengers Initiative – our evolving online multiplayer world that lets you and three friends play as any Hero in our roster and embark on global adventures.”

Marvel’s Avengers might not be the critical darling like Marvel’s Spider-Man was, but hey, if you have an Xbox Game Pass subscription, it’s free! So checking it out shouldn’t hurt your wallet any.

‘Final Fantasy 14’ fans honor late, beloved voice actor with touching in-game vigils

Actor Stephen Critchlow recently passed away, but Final Fantasy 14 fans won’t forget him.

Final Fantasy 14  players are mourning over the passing of actor Stephen Critchlow, who played Edmont de Fortemps in the Heavensward expansion, TheGamer  reported Tuesday. In a moving tribute to Critchlow’s memory, fans are holding mass in-game vigils outside Fortemps Manor, where the late actor’s character lives.

“It is with great sadness that we report the death of Stephen Critchlow, or ‘Critch’ to his friends,” Big Fish, a production company that Critchlow regularly worked with, said in a statement. “We were privileged to work with [Critchlow] on dozens of Big Fish audio dramas over the years.”

While Critchlow had notable roles on BBC audio dramas like The ArchersDoctor Who, and Torchwood, he lent his vocal talents to many video games as well, from first-person shooters like Killzone 3 to RPG hits such as Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Though to many, his work on Final Fantasy 14: Heavensward outshines it all

Once word of the actor’s passing reached the ears of Final Fantasy 14 fans, hundreds immediately began congregating outside Fortemps Manor inside the game. Many stood in quiet silence for hours while others lit bonfires to commemorate the occasion. It’s a sight likely to yield misty-eyes even if you’re not familiar with Final Fantasy 14 — and it’s happening across all of the MMORPG’s servers right now.

Many fans are sharing screenshots, videos, and fanart from the vigil on social media that you can check out below. Be sure to bring tissue papers, though.

‘Final Fantasy 15’ collaboration event with ‘Final Fantasy 14’ returns next week

You get a car! And you get a car! And even you get a car!

A couple of years back, Final Fantasy 14 did a limited-time crossover event with Final Fantasy 15, and it’s coming back soon. A Nocturne for Heroes, as it’s so appropriately named, will be available once again from Sept. 13 through Oct. 18.

If you’re not familiar with Final Fantasy, you might be wondering why A Nocturne for Heroes is considered a crossover event and not a follow-up to both games. Well, every entry in the series deals with an entirely different storyline and world. Not to mention Final Fantasy 15 is a single-player RPG, while Final Fantasy 14 is a massively multiplayer online RPG.

So, A Nocturne for Heroes lets Final Fantasy 14 players partake in a short questline to earn all sorts of in-game clothing and magical items from Final Fantasy 15. Including the Regalia, a ridiculous-looking car that you can drive around after completing the event.

Check out the original A Nocturne for Heroes event trailer for yourself below.

Limited-time events are common in Final Fantasy 14, and they often come with unique rewards that are easy to miss out on if you’re only just getting into the game. Since Final Fantasy 15 is popular, developer Square Enix chose to bring A Nocturne for Heroes back for anyone who missed it the first time.

Final Fantasy might be the only series that can have a crossover with itself.
