Gators planning next meeting with this in-state 4-star EDGE

The Gators are officially joining the race for four-star edge rusher Dylan Stephenson, but it won’t be easy beating out the other in-state schools recruiting him.

The Florida Gators offered four-star Columbus (Miami, Florida) edge rusher Dylan Stephenson a scholarship at the end of February, and now the team is working on bringing him to campus over the spring, according to Gators Online.

Stephenson is looking to load up his schedule over the next month or so with visits to Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami and Michigan. While only the Tigers have a date set with him, Florida could be the next to lock in a meeting with the in-state blue-chipper.

“It would most likely be April 16, but I haven’t confirmed a date yet,” Stephenson said. “It’s still in the works and I’m ironing out the details.”

His main points of contact at the university are outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson and recruiting staffer Larry Williams. Peterson is the one who offered Stephenson, and he’s developed a good relationship with the junior edge rusher.

Right now, the in-state programs have Stephenson’s interest. Miami is the hometown school and favorite to land him, according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine with Florida State in second place. He hopes to have a  decision in place before the start of his senior year, which put a five-month clock on his recruitment.

Stephenson is ranked No. 118 overall on the 247Sports composite and is No. 11 among edge rushers in the class of 2024. The On3 industry ranking has him a bit lower at No. 156 overall and No. 14 among those in this position, but he’s still among the nation’s top prep edge rushers.

Elite 2026 QB Julian Lewis sets Texas visit date

2026 QB Julian Lewis is set to visit Texas in March.

2026 quarterback Julian Lewis is already getting the attention from the top programs in college football as a sophomore in high school.

Lewis lit it up as a freshman at Carrolton High School in Georgia, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 48 touchdowns.

On3 Sports reports Lewis has put together his spring visit schedule. Lewis is set to have a busy semester taking a look at potential schools.

  • Florida State (March 6)
  • Georgia (March 16)
  • Texas (March 24)
  • Alabama (March 30)
  • USC (April 8)

Texas is recruiting the quarterback position exceptionally well under Steve Sarkisian. The Longhorns have stacked an uber-talented assortment of signal callers with Maailk Murphy, Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning over the past few years.

Lewis seems to be the next big thing on the recruiting front. Texas among other programs is getting a head start in Lewis’ recruitment.

Florida staying close with 2025 WR Hardley Gilmore

Florida is getting started on the class of 2025 early and likes in-state wide receiver Hardley Gilmore enough to extend an offer.

While most of Florida’s recruiting efforts are focused on the class of 2024 these days, there is still some news coming out of the class of 2025.

The Gators offered wide receiver [autotag]Hardley Gilmore[/autotag] at the beginning of the month, joining a laundry list of Power Five programs that are competing for his services. The Pahokee, Florida, native burst onto the scene after a strong freshman year and transferring to IMG Academy. He holds offers from Alabama, Georgia and Florida State among others.

Florida is a program that’s very close to home for Gilmore. According to 247Sports, his parents are big UF fans, which should help the Gators to some degree. They should be able to fill him in on the history of the program, and he’s already had a taste of what the school has to offer on a previous visit.

Florida should be able to get Gilmore back on campus relatively soon. Although he has two more years left in his recruitment, he’s a name they are focusing on early. The recruiting staff is still getting know him better, but the foundation is there for a stronger relationship to develop.

“I most definitely will visit Florida. I want to visit Florida, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, ‘Bama, and probably Georgia. I want to get out to see as many of those places as I can when the spring starts. I have a good relationship with Coach (Jamar) Chaney at Florida, so I want to come and check them out.”

Gilmore also has a few player connections to the program. He’s friends with offensive lineman [autotag]Knijeah Harris[/autotag] and defensive lineman [autotag]Will Norman[/autotag], which is how Florida found him in the first place. There’s no doubt both will be recruiting him to reunite in Gainesville.

None of the major recruiting services have grades out for the majority of the class of 2025, so it’s hard to gauge where Gilmore stands on a national level. The On3 recruiting prediction machine does favor UCF in his recruitment right now, though. The Knights have the best odds to land him at 19.5% followed by Florida A&M at 17.1% and Florida State at 14.6%.
