Georgia vs. Oregon: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

Betting outlook for Georgia vs. Oregon

The No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs take on the No. 11 Oregon Ducks on Saturday Sept. 3, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.

If you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at Tipico Sportsbook.

The game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN.

The defending national champions will face former defensive coordinator Dan Lanning, who will make his head coaching debut for Oregon against his former team.

The Ducks are coming off a 10-4 season that included a Pac-12 championship appearance (38-10 loss to Utah) and a Valero Alamo Bowl appearance (47-32 loss to Oklahoma).

The Dawgs look to defend their national title with a squad that lost 15 players to the NFL draft this spring (NFL record). Eight of those were off a record-setting defense that will have to retool to compete for a playoff spot in 2022.

The good news for the Bulldogs is Stetson ‘The Mailman’ Bennett is back and leads a high-powered offense to Atlanta for opening weekend.

The lines, courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook

  • Point spread: Oregon +17.5 (-108) | Georgia -17.5 (-112)
  • Money line: Oregon +550 (bet $100 to win $550) | Georgia -850 (bet $850 to win $100)
  • Over-under: 51.5 (O: -112 | U: -108)

Advice and prediction

Football is a game of matchups at the end of the day. While Oregon does have two All-Pac 12 selections on defense, linebacker Noah Sewell and defensive lineman Brandon Dorlus, and another two along the offensive front, Alex Forsyth and T.J. Bass, the speed and physicality UGA possesses will be front and center in this one.

The Ducks were pushed around by Utah and Oklahoma to end the season, and I expect something similar on Saturday.

Oregon quarterback and Auburn transfer, Bo Nix, is no stranger to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. Nix is a good athlete, but he has never been able to get a win versus the Dawgs, and that will not change this weekend.

Bennett, Kenny McIntosh and Brock Bowers on offense, along with Jalen Carter, Kelee Ringo and Christopher Smith on defense will be too much for the Ducks. That’s why I would take Georgia minus-17.5 points and the under at 51.5.

Prediction: 38-10

Florida vs. Utah: Tipico’s Tuesday betting odds for season-opener

Tuesday’s betting update on the Florida-Utah season opener saw a slight shift from Monday but nothing changed drastically.

As game day for the Florida Gators creeps closer and closer, the betting odds for Saturday’s matchup with Utah continue to change in minor ways.

UF’s first game under Billy Napier against the Utes should set the tone for the next several years of Gators football, but the odds might not be in their favor when kickoff commences. Utah enters the season ranked No. 7 on the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 8 on the USA TODAY Coaches Poll. Meanwhile, Florida sits well outside the top 25 with minimal votes to start the year.

Despite the disparity in the team rankings, Florida isn’t expected to get bulldozed by Utah. Tipico Sportsbook expects a relatively close competition that could be decided by a field goal. Since Monday, the odds appear to have increased slightly in favor of the Utes. While the money line hasn’t changed at all, the odds of hitting the spread are slightly fluctuating.

The lines, courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook

The Tipico Sportsbook favors the Utes by three points over the Gators to start the week. Here are the full odds as of 11:20 a.m. EDT Tuesday.

The Napkin: Week 0 betting recap includes a surprising SEC team

Our Week 0 dress rehearsal wasn’t nearly as bad as Scott Frost’s special teams decisions.

Last week, I made sure to emphasize how Week 0 was our trial run for the season to come. I wasn’t going to be perfect in any week, let alone Week 0 after months of not seeing college football be played.

Alas, the games were played and the results can’t be changed. At the beginning of every week, we’ll look back on The Napkin results from the previous week and see how well (or probably, poorly) we did on Saturday.

If you’re new to The Napkin, welcome! You can click here for all my betting rules.

Given that Week 0 had a very limited slate of games, the selection wasn’t my first choice of games to bet on. Regardless of that, I have a duty to make my gambling picks. Well, it’s not really a duty, per say, but more of an “Editor Adam will get mad at me, and possibly fire me, for not getting my assignments in on time” type of duty.

It’s almost like Editor Adam expects the people he brings on to be reliable and consistent. Who would want that?

Anyway, here’s a recap on what my Week 0 picks looked like.

And now, let’s see how we did.

Betting lines and predictions for the biggest games of Week 1

College football is officially back.

Week 1 of the 2022 season brings us some exciting matchups, with none bigger than No. 2 Ohio State hosting No. 5 Notre Dame.

Georgia, the defending national champions, also plays Oregon in Atlanta on Saturday. The fun continues on Sunday with FSU vs. LSU and again on Monday when Clemson plays Georgia Tech.

If you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research on this week’s biggest games, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at Tipico Sportsbook.

LSU vs. Florida State: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

Here’s how you should bet LSU’s season opener.

The LSU Tigers play the Florida State Seminoles on Sunday, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at Tipico Sportsbook.

The game starts at 6:30 p.m. CT and can be seen on ABC.

All eyes will be on the beginning of the [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] era as it’s in prime time and is the only FBS game of the day. The Tigers open with a Power Five opponent in FSU, which is searching for its first bowl appearance under third-year coach Mike Norvell after last season’s 5-7 finish.

The Seminoles won their opener in Week 0 against the Duquesne Dukes in blowout fashion, with three rushers exceeding 100 yards. This will be their first real test, though, as they face what should be an LSU-heavy crowd in New Orleans.

Here’s how the betting odds break down, per Tipico.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are underdogs against Appalachian State

Mack Brown and the UNC football program open up as underdogs against Appalachian State for Saturday’s showdown.

The UNC football program travels to take on Appalachian State on Saturday and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at Tipico Sportsbook.

Following their win over FAMU on Saturday, UNC is looking to move to 2-0 on the year. But a tough road test against the Mountaineers awaits and right now, the Tar Heels are listed as half-point underdogs. According to Tipico, the over/under on the line is set to 56.5 for total points scored.

The lines, courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook

  • Point spread: UNC + 0.5
  • Money line: UNC -110 / App State -110
  • Over-under: 56.5

Advice and Prediction

This game is no easy task for UNC. However, if they can keep the offense going and make some adjustments on defense, coming out on top while covering the total points should be in the cards.

If I were to bet, I’d lean towards the over in the game and with UNC being underdogs that’s not a terrible bet at -110 odds either.

Florida vs. Utah: Tipico’s Monday betting odds for season-opener

Here’s are the betting odds for Saturday’s game to start the week.

The college football season is nearly nigh as Florida football gets set to embark on its first season under new head coach Billy Napier against the Utah Utes. The program looks to turn the page from the Dan Mullen era and get off to a strong start against a difficult non-conference opponent.

The Gators host the projected top-25 visitors while sitting far outside of the top-25 rankings to start the season. Despite the Utes’ superior status in the polls coming into the game, the Gators are expected to give the visitors some trouble in what will be a humid night in the Swamp. However, the bookmakers are a bit bearish on the Orange and Blue to start the week.

The lines, courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook

The Tipico Sportsbook favors the Utes by 2.5-points over the Gators to start the week. Here are the full odds as of 12:15 p.m. EDT Monday.

Team Spread Money Line Total Points
Utah -2.5
-117
O 51.5
-103

Florida +2.5

Oklahoma Sooners open the season as heavy favorite over UTEP Miners

As game week gets underway, here’s a look at the opening lines for Oklahoma’s matchup with UTEP courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook.

With week zero in the books, it’s time to turn our attention to game week for the Oklahoma Sooners as they prepare to welcome the UTEP Miners to Norman.

UTEP is coming off of a disappointing week zero loss to the University of North Texas. It was a 14-13 game at halftime as the two sides rallied from a scoreless first quarter to put some points on the board in the second.

After UTEP kicked a field goal to close the first half, UNT scored 17 unanswered points to pull away from the Miners to take the early-season Conference USA matchup.

The Sooners will welcome a UTEP team hoping to bounce back from a disappointing second half to perform better in Norman. However, as the early-week point spread indicates, UTEP may not provide much of a challenge.

The Oklahoma Sooners begin their first game week of the Brent Venables era with something to prove, and UTEP provides the right opportunity to make their first statement of the season. The Sooners open up as 31.5-point favorites. There’s little doubt that Oklahoma will win the game, and though it’s a big spread, the Sooners offense will provide an explosive opening week, which should give OU a chance to cover the spread in Venables’ first game as the head coach.

As the Sooners begin game week, let’s take a look at the opening lines.

The lines, courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook

  • Point spread: Oklahoma -31.5
  • Money line: Oklahoma -10000, UTEP +1500
  • Over-under: 56.5

Nebraska vs. Northwestern: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

The Nebraska Cornhuskers play the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday, August 27, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck!

The Nebraska Cornhuskers play the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday, August 27, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at Tipico Sportsbook.

The game starts at 11:30 AM Central Time and can be seen on Fox.

Nebraska and Northwestern are coming off matching seasons of 3-9 overall and 1-8 in the Big Ten. Last year, the Huskers handled the Wildcats with ease by a final score of 56-7 after former Nebraska QB Adrian Martinez set the tone with three rushing touchdowns in the first quarter. Following Martinez’s transfer to Kansas State, Casey Thompson will be the Cornhuskers’ starting quarterback for Nebraska’s first game. Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald has not announced a starting quarterback yet, and does not plan to do so until later in the week. The 56-7 victory was Nebraska’s last victory of the 2021 season.

The lines, courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook

  • Point spread: Nebraska -12.5
  • Money line: Nebraska -550 / Northwestern +400
  • Over-under: 50.5

Nebraska vs. Northwestern injury report:

Nebraska TE Thomas Fidone: Questionable (knee)
Nebraska TE Chris Hickman: Questionable (foot)
Nebraska WR De’Coldest Crawford: Out (knee)
Nebraska OL Nouredin Nouili: Out (suspension)

Advice and prediction

Betting the over/under could be a tough pick, as both teams will be dealing with significant travel and jet lag as the game is being played in Dublin, Ireland. Nebraska has a revamped offense that could put up some points, just as they did against the Wildcats last year, but it may take time for all their new pieces to get in sync. The fact that Northwestern has not named a quarterback leaves questions on how many points they will put up. Keep an eye on if the spread lines change closer to kickoff if Northwestern announces their starter. If it’s Ryan Hilinski, the expected starter, the lines may stay consistent but if it’s either Carl Richardson or Brendan Sullivan, both less-proven options, the line could shift further towards Nebraska. The safest bet here is on Nebraska’s money line.

Prediction: Nebraska 37, Northwestern 20
