Former Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray sets new NFL career high in passing yards for a single game

Former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray set a new career high in passing yards in a single game in Arizona’s win over Philadelphia.

Former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray has become one of the elite young talents in the entire NFL in his second season with the Arizona Cardinals.

His season has been extremely entertaining and featured plenty of highlight moments, but Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles may be his best outing of the season as he set a new career high in passing yards as he went up and over the 400-yard mark.

Among the loads of yards were three touchdown passes to help Arizona pick up a huge 33-26 win to improve to 8-6 on the season. He also has added a touchdown on the ground as well.

With two weeks to go, the Cardinals are sitting in good shape for the playoffs and will finish their season with a home game against the San Francisco 49ers and a road battle with the Los Angeles Rams.

Former Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield has huge game in historic loss to Baltimore

Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield had a huge game in an instant classic loss to Baltimore on Monday Night Football.

One of the most highly-anticipated games of the NFL season took place Monday night in Cleveland with the Browns hosting the division rival Baltimore Ravens.

It lived up to the hype…and then some. The game will go down forever as one of the most wild displays on Monday Night Football that any of us have ever witnessed with the Ravens winning a circus game 47-42 behind a late Justin Tucker field goal to give them the lead with just two seconds remaining.

Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield did everything he could going 27/46 passing for 341 yards and two touchdowns in the brutal loss for the Browns. Down 35-34 late in the fourth quarter, Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson connected with another former Sooner in wide receiver Marquise Brown for a 44-yard touchdown to give them the lead.

Mayfield would engineer a drive right down the field and hit running back Kareem Hunt for a 22-yard touchdown pass to tie the game with just over a minute remaining.

But, that was too much time left on the clock as Jackson led the Ravens’ offense back down the field for the game-winning field goal.

It was an instant classic that won’t soon be forgotten by NFL fans, and while the loss severely hurts Cleveland’s hopes at a division crown this showing was still good enough to earn the respect of may critics around the country.

More primetime football is ahead for Mayfield and the Browns as they’ll look to bounce back next Sunday night as they hit the road to face the New York Giants.

Former Oklahoma CB Parnell Motley signs with Denver Broncos

Former Oklahoma cornerback Parnell Motley has signed a deal with the Denver Broncos.

Former Oklahoma cornerback Parnell Motley is getting a new NFL home as he is signing on to become a member of the Denver Broncos.

After a very solid senior season with Oklahoma in 2019, Motley went undrafted after not receiving an NFL Scouting Combine invite in the weeks leading up to the NFL Draft.

In April, Motley signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent and made the team’s 53-man roster. He appeared in two games prior to being waived in October.

He was then picked up by the San Francisco 49ers before being waived by them just a couple more weeks later and reassigned to the practice squad.

Now, he has found a new home with a Denver as the Broncos made the move to sign him to join their roster on Monday.

Due to COVID-19 protocols he won’t be available for this Saturday’s game against Buffalo, but if all goes well Motley could take the field for the first time as a Bronco on Dec. 27th on the road against former defensive teammate Kenneth Murray and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Former Oklahoma QBs Kyler Murray, Jalen Hurts to play each other on Sunday

Former Oklahoma quarterbacks Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts are set to face off on Sunday in Arizona.

Former Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts got his first career NFL start on Sunday with the Philadelphia Eagles in an upset win over the New Orleans Saints.

Hurts took over for Carson Wentz after his continued struggles in recent weeks and did some good things in his first start helping snap a five-game losing streak against one of the top teams in the entire league.

Eagles’ coach Doug Pederson was non-committal after the game if Hurts would continue to start going forward, but it has been reported today that he will indeed get the nod again next Sunday.

Awaiting him will be another former Sooner quarterback in Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals setting up an all-Oklahoma duel in the desert.

Murray and fellow former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield matched up last year as well, with Murray getting the better of that collision.

While Hurts and Murray were never with the Sooners at the same time, this still sets up a wildly interesting quarterback duel for Oklahoma fans. The matchup will take place on Sunday at 3:05 p.m. CT in Glendale.

Former Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray throws touchdown pass in win over New York Giants

Former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray had a touchdown toss in Arizona’s win over New York on Sunday.

Former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals made their second trip of the season to East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday to do battle with the suddenly surging New York Giants.

The Cardinals came in scuffling having dropped three in a row and four of their last five to dip them down to 6-6 on the season. Despite the rough patch, they still are good shape to make the postseason with the expanded playoffs this year as long as they can find some wins down the stretch.

It wasn’t the prettiest game of the season for Murray and Arizona, but it was a solid performance to get a big 26-7 road win.

Murray finished the day 24/35 passing for 244 yards and one touchdown. He also tacked on 47 yards on the ground on the afternoon.

It was an important win for the Cardinals to get back above .500 at 7-6 as they now currently hold the final playoff spot in the NFC with the Minnesota Vikings‘ loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Next up for Arizona will be a home matchup with another former Sooner quarterback Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday afternoon.

Oklahoma will be the only school to have three starting quarterbacks in the NFL this week

Oklahoma will be the only school to have three starting quarterbacks in the NFL this week with Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts.

Oklahoma loves to casually call itself “QBU” given their recent success at the quarterback position.

Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray won the Heisman Trophy in back-to-back seasons and then Jalen Hurts finished as the runner-up the year following, so that claim certainly has some water.

Further giving the Sooners more ammo to argue with, Oklahoma will be the only school to have three starting quarterbacks in the NFL on Sunday with Mayfield, Murray and Hurts all getting the nod.

Mayfield and Murray have been starters with their respective franchises for awhile now, but Hurts completes the trifecta after being named the starter for the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this week.

Lincoln Riley is surely deep in preparation for the Big 12 Championship Game on Saturday, but it is safe to say that he will be keeping a watchful eye on all three of his guys this weekend.

Murray and the Arizona Cardinals are currently playing on the road against the New York Giants, Hurts and the Eagles will play host to the New Orleans Saints later today at 3:25 p.m. CT and Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns will host the Baltimore Ravens tomorrow night on Monday Night Football.

Former Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts named the starting QB for Philadelphia Eagles

Former Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts has been named the new starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Former Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts got into the game last weekend as the actual quarterback for the first time this year. He had previously come in for gadget plays and designed runs, but this was an actual opportunity to run the offense.

He did some good things, including throwing his first career touchdown pass, and it was enough to be given the reigns to Philadelphia’s offense. Hurts has been named the new starting quarterback per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This was a move that many have discussed for weeks now as the Eagles continued to slip down the standings behind the shaky play of quarterback Carson Wentz. Philadelphia selected Hurts in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft.

A Heisman runner-up last year at Oklahoma, Hurts is now the third Sooner quarterback to be a current NFL starter along with Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray.

Hurts’ debut start will be this Sunday afternoon as Philadelphia hosts New Orleans.

Former Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray struggles again in loss to Los Angeles

Former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray continued his cold stretch as his Arizona Cardinals lost against to the Los Angeles Rams.

Former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray got off to a fantastic start in his second NFL season in Arizona, but things have started to come back to Earth a bit for him.

After a 5-2 start, the Cardinals have now dropped four of their last five games with their only win coming on a Hail Mary against Buffalo. Now at 6-6, they are fighting for their life to even make the postseason after looking like potential contenders just a month or so ago.

On Sunday, the struggles continued as Arizona suffered a home loss to division foe Los Angeles 38-28.

Murray wasn’t terrible by any means going 21/39 for 173 yards and three touchdowns. But he wasn’t exactly good either as up until a late touchdown when the game was already decided, his completion percentage hovered around 50 percent for the bulk of the afternoon and he also threw a killer pick six.

He also was a non-factor in the running game with just 15 yards rushing. Certainly far below what we have come to expect from him in that department as well.

Trying to right the ship, Murray and the Cardinals will next hit the road and head east for a matchup with the suddenly first place New York Giants next Sunday afternoon.

Former Oklahoma WR Marquise Brown scores touchdown in Baltimore-Pittsburgh game

Former Oklahoma wide receiver Marquise Brown scored an electric 70-yard touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday.

Marquise Brown is very fun to watch play football.

His sophomore season in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens hasn’t been quite as prolific as his rookie campaign, along with many of his teammates who have also taken a step back from a year ago, but he has still provided some highlights this season including an electrifying long touchdown reception in Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Down 19-7 late in the game, second-year quarterback Trace McSorley connected with Brown a little over 15 yards down the field and then Hollywood did the rest taking it 70 yards to the house.

The catch was Brown’s fourth of the day and brought him up to 85 yards on the afternoon.

It was only his third touchdown of the season compared to seven last year, so it’ll be interesting to see if Brown can use this play as a spark to a strong finish to the season.

Next up, he and his Ravens teammates are set to host his former rock-paper-scissors foe CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys next Tuesday night in Baltimore.

Former Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield throws two touchdowns in win over Jacksonville

Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield threw two touchdowns in the Browns’ win over the Jaguars on Sunday.

The Cleveland Browns may actually be a good football team led by former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield. What a world.

The Browns were in action against the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday hoping to run their win streak up to three straight. They did just that as they outlasted a feisty Jaguars team to win 27-25 to improve to 8-3 on the season.

Mayfield had himself a solid afternoon, going 19 of 29 passing for 258 yards and two touchdowns while staying mistake-free with zero interceptions.

This 2020 Cleveland offense is largely based around the run game with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, so anytime Mayfield completes a high percentage of his passes with some touchdowns the Browns are going to be in good shape.

Next up for Mayfield and Cleveland will be a big test as they head to Nashville for a matchup with the Tennessee Titans.
