Miami Dolphins RG Solomon Kindley excels in first career NFL start

Former Georgia football OL Solomon Kindley excels in his first career NFL start with the Miami Dolphins.

Former Georgia offensive lineman Solomon Kindley was selected 111th overall by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Dolphins began their season this past Sunday against the New England Patriots, starting the 6-foot-4, 335 pound Kindley at the right guard position, and he did not disappoint.

Kindley played every offensive snap for the Dolphins in Week 1, allowing just one quarterback pressure on 62 snaps (38 pass blocking).  That’s pretty incredible to see out of a rookie offensive lineman going against the greatest football mind ever in Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick.

The Dolphins wound up losing 21-11 with Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing for 191 yards and 3 interceptions on the day.  Miami is still waiting on their first round draft selection of former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to be 100 percent healthy.

Tagovailoa dislocated his hip during the 2019 college football season and is still nursing back to health.  The Dolphins are hoping to get Tua under center as early as Week 6, but could also wait as long as Week 12 where they’d be coming off of a bye week.

Tagovailoa’s timetable for return is still unclear but the Miami coaching staff can sleep well at night knowing their selection in Kindley was an excellent one.

Miami Dolphins list former Georgia OL Solomon Kindley as a starter

The Miami Dolphins have listed former Georgia football OL Solomon Kindley as a starter ahead of Week One.

Former Georgia offensive lineman Solomon Kindley was selected by the Miami Dolphins with the 111st pick in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.  Now, Kindley has been listed as a week one starter for the Dolphins, facing off against their AFC East rival the New England Patriots.

Kindley played in 41 games for Georgia, starting in 32 of those, after redshirting his freshman season.

He came to Athens as a three-star prospect but worked his way up to the starting lineup as a sophomore.  Kindley was an essential piece to Georgia’s offensive line that ranked No. 1 in the country in 2019.

He helped the Bulldogs capture three straight SEC East titles, an SEC Championship, Rose Bowl and a Sugar Bowl.

The 6-foot-4, 335 pound pancake machine will mesh perfectly with Miami’s offense and act as some great insurance for the Dolphin’s new quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.  Kindley will be starting at right guard.

The Dolphins kickoff their season this Sunday, September 13th at 1:00 p.m. in Gillette Stadium.
