Ex-Broncos safety Kareem Jackson reacts to ‘pathetic’ missed facemask on ‘TNF’

“NFL should be ashamed the refs are terrible every week smh,” Kareem Jackson wrote on social media after a missed facemask on ‘TNF.’

The Los Angeles Rams’ win over the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football this week ended with a controversy.

Trailing by eight points late in the fourth quarter, the Vikings got the ball back deep in their own territory. Minnesota quarterback Sam Darnold was then sacked in his own end zone to seal a 30-20 loss for the Vikings.

Rams pass rusher Byron Young committed a blatant facemask penalty on the sack, but the official did not throw a flag, sparking much controversy.

Among those who chimed in on the incident was former Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson.

“NFL should be ashamed the refs are terrible every week smh,” Jackson tweeted.

Jackson, 36, played for the Broncos from 2019-2023. He is now on the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills.

“Referee combine is needed smh. How you gonna test the players but not the mf watching them šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£,” Jackson wrote in a follow-up tweet.

Jackson was repeatedly fined and suspended twice for his illegal hits with the Broncos last season.

“And bro will go home with no consequences and all his money and in line to call a game next week,” Jackson wrote. “But the players take on all the consequences. For hits, PIā€™s, etc ā€¦. This [expletive] pathetic smh.”

Jackson was certainly not alone in his criticism of the missed call.

“Canā€™t see a facemask 3 feet in front of them, but we want refs to decide what is and isnā€™t a ā€œhip dropā€ tackle in real time. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚” J.J. Watt tweeted.

Young appeared to expect a penalty based on his reaction after the play. He took to Twitter/X following the game with a funny response.

With the win, the Rams improved to 3-4. The Vikings dropped to 5-2. The Broncos are not scheduled to play either team this season.

Broncos LB Alex Singleton shares injury update on social media

“Thank you everyone for the positive vibes and prayers today,” Alex Singleton wrote. “Going to attack this like everything else full speed!”

Denver Broncos inside linebacker Alex Singleton underwent successful ACL surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

After the surgery, Singleton shared a positive update on social media.

“Road to recovery starts now!” Singleton wrote on his Instagram and X pages. “Thank you everyone for the positive vibes and prayers today. Going to attack this like everything else full speed! Go Broncos!!”

Singleton, who will turn 31 in December, tore his ACL during a 26-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3. The veteran linebacker did not realize the severity of his injury and played the final 49 snaps on defense.

After the game, Singleton reported a sore knee and tests revealed his torn ACL. The linebacker now begins the road to recovery with a goal of returning in time for the 2025 season next fall.

In the meantime, the Broncos have turned to Justin Strnad to fill in at linebacker, starting next to Cody Barton in Singleton’s old position.

WATCH: Spencer Rattler’s best plays of the preseason

The Saints shared a highlight reel featuring Spencer Rattler’s best plays of the preseason. If you need a shot in the arm prior to Sunday’s game, watch this tape:

The New Orleans Saints fan base is excited for the debut of Spencer Rattler. This is probably the most excited the fan base has been in years. Rattler is a young quarterback with a skillset that feels like he can be a starter in this league moving forward. And quite frankly, some of the excitement derives from Derek Carr fatigue.

It’s for a slightly different reason that excitement level has spilled into the locker room. There’s belief in Rattler, and an intrigue on how the young player will perform. That is independent of Carr but still based on his skillset.

As Rattler prepares for his debut, the Saints official social media account posted the best plays we’ve seen from him thus far. Itā€™s primarily passes but there are a couple of runs mixed in there. It isnā€™t a preseason highlight tape without showing Rattler run through a defender for a touchdown.
Rattlerā€™s passing highlights are headlined by a back shoulder throw to Samson Nacua and a deep shot to now-Denver Bronco A.T. Perry.

If you need an extra shot in the arm prior to Sunday’s game, watch this tape.

Former Chiefs wide receiver explains viral moment with Patrick Mahomes

Former Kansas City #Chiefs wide receiver Gehrig Dieter explains viral moment with Patrick Mahomes | @EdEastonJr

The viral video clip of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes jokingly in the face of former wide receiver Gehrig Dieter opened up extra attention around the sports world.

Dieter, a loyal New York Yankees fan, enjoyed the reaction to his moment with Mahomes at the ALDS game and spoke with TMZ about the situation.

“The Yanks obviously took an early lead; I was pretty loud in a quiet environment with the Royal fans around, but when there’s a spark of energy like that goin’ on in that inning, obviously (Patrick Mahomes) is gonna get fired up, and have some fun,” said Dieter “Last night was great, glad that they won the game. It was a hectic environment, but I had a lot of fun, obviously.”

Dieter continues celebrating his Yankees series win as the Royals dropped both games at Kauffman Stadium.

“Nothin’ but fun,” said Dieter. “It’s funny how the whole video has kinda gone viral, and some people are taking it out of context, but it’s all fun and games.”

Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill joined in on the joke via his X account, posting ‘Thug Antics’ about the clip. This led Dieter to respond that Hill wanted to return to Kansas City.

“Confirmed @cheetah misses KC.” posted Dieter.” I’m coming out of retirement if you’re coming back to KC.”

Dieter played for the Chiefs from 2017-2021, spending most of his time on the practice squad or special teams. He had two career receptions for 32 yards before announcing his retirement in June 2022.

WATCH: Team’s reaction to Andrew Van Ginkel’s interception against Jets

On Wednesday, the Vikings’ social media teams wanted to share a different view of Van Ginkel’s interception on Sunday.Ā

The Minnesota Vikings’ defense has been playing at an elite level ever since their first defensive snaps of the year against the New York Giants. They got a defensive touchdown on an interception from Andrew Van Ginkel, and on Sunday, the Jets had a repeat performance.

On Wednesday, the Vikings’ social media teams wanted to share a different view of Van Ginkel’s interception on Sunday.

The interception was Van Ginkel’s second defensive touchdown, and paired with his sack totals, he has a chance to win the Defensive Player of the Year award if he keeps this up. Brian Flores’s work has been fundamental to the Vikings’ success this year, but the major plays he has shown to make cannot be overstated.

You can see how much his play means to this team from the reaction. They are all behind each other every snap and every play, and it speaks to the work of both the front office and coaching staff that they achieved that level of parity.

Bo Nix responds to Sean Payton’s comments with perfect Ferris Bueller video

“Life moves pretty fast. If you donā€™t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”Ā — Ferris Bueller/Bo Nix

In the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix was captured by Fox cameras having a heated exchange with coach Sean Payton on the sideline.

After the game, Payton explained that Nix had flipped a play that the coach did not want to be flipped, and they discussed it on the sideline after the play. Payton said Nix has “a little bit of Ferris Bueller” in him.

Payton, of course, was referencing ā€œFerris Buellerā€™s Day Off,” a 1986 comedy starring Matthew Broderick.

ā€œFerris is kind of quirky and doing his own thing once in a while,” Payton said. “Did you watch the movie? Have you ever seen it? He still has some Ferris Bueller in him. Heā€™s got some. Not mischievous, maybe a little bit kind of subtly.ā€

Two days later, Nix had a perfect reaction to Payton’s comments. The 24-year-old quarterback shared a highlight video on his Instagram page featuring a clip of Ferris Bueller and a caption featuringĀ an iconic line from the movie: “Life moves pretty fast. If you donā€™t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Check it out:

Nix helped the Broncos beat the Raiders by a score of 34-18 with a 70.4% completion rate, 206 passing yards, two touchdown passes, one touchdown run and no turnovers. Perhaps having some Ferris Bueller in him isn’t a bad thing.

Lions social media team scores knockout win over Seattle too

The Lions social media team let the Seahawks know what it’s like to get beaten in Detroit

Jared Goff wasn’t the only perfect Detroit Lions performer on Monday night. Whoever ran the Lions’ social media account also scored perfectly with a knockout of the visiting Seattle Seahawks.

Before the game, the ESPN production crew captured Seahawks defender Tyrel Dodson leading a derogatory, condescending pump-up rally against the Lions. That caught the keen attention of Detroit’s social media staff, and they filed it away for good use.

Ladies and gentlemen, this retort from the Lions official account is officially good use of Seattle’s own words against them after Detroit’s players ran past them for a 42-29 win in Ford Field.

They did indeed find out–the hard way. The Lions weren’t done, however…

In a shocking development, golf fans aren’t too happy with the 2024 Presidents Cup TV coverage

Not great.

The 2024 Presidents Cup kicked off on Thursday with Canadian Mackenzie Hughes taking a knee on Royal Montreal Golf Club’s first tee in front of the home crowd and chugging a Stella Artois. Once the matches were underway, it didn’t take long for fans to voice their displeasure for Golf Channel’s coverage ā€” or lack thereof.

For starters, there are no streaming options on Peacock (although NBCSports.com does have it) until the weekend, including zero featured groups or matches.

The camera on the sixth hole is having an issue with the lens.

And, of course, the commercial load is a bit ridiculous.

Here’s what fans had to say on social media on Day 1 north of the border.

Alex Singleton posts message after injury: ‘See you in 2025!’

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out it. It doesnā€™t go unnoticed,” Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton wrote on his Instagram page.

Denver Broncos inside linebacker Alex Singleton was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, ending his 2024 season.

Singleton tore his ACL eight plays into Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he didn’t realize it and played the rest of the game. Following the news of his injury, the 30-year-old linebacker posted a message on his Instagram page on Wednesday night.

“Not the way I expected my 2024 season to end,” Singleton wrote on his social media page. “But I am not going to let it define me. Here for the BOYZ all season long. Everyone else see you in 2025!

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out. It doesnā€™t go unnoticed šŸ™šŸ»”

Singleton led the team with 31 tackles through three games, including 10 tackles against the Bucs on Sunday. Singleton also led the Broncos in tackles in 2023 (177) and 2022 (163).

Singleton has one more year left on his contract after this season, so he’ll be set to return in 2025.
