Social media reacts to five-star OT Kelvin Banks committing to Texas

Five-star OT Kelvin Banks sent shockwaves across the college football world when he announced his commitment to Texas.

The Longhorns should send Mario Cristobal and Miami some flowers, as thanks to them Texas was able to gain a commitment from one of the top offensive lineman in the nation.

Days after decommitting from Oregon due to Cristobal accepting the head coaching job at Miami, five-star offensive lineman Kelvin Banks announced his commitment to the University of Texas. He is expected to sign with the Longhorns on Wednesday, and becomes the highest rated commit in Texas’ 2022 recruiting class.

Landing Banks is massive win for the Longhorns, who were in dire need of a revamped offensive line as that was weakest position group on the field at all times for Texas. His pledge to the Longhorns could also sway other blue chip prospects to follow him to Austin.

Even with the announcement coming just minutes ago, Twitter is already in a frenzy with the news. Here are some of the best reactions following Banks’ decision to continue his playing career on the Forty Acres.

LOOK: What fans are saying ahead of No. 4 Alabama vs Tennessee

Check out the best Alabama-Tennessee pregame tweets here!

Wake up, it’s game day!

It’s not just any other game day, but it’s a rivalry Saturday in Tuscaloosa as Tennessee comes to town for another edition of The Third Saturday in October.

Since Nick Saban took over in 2007, Alabama has never lost to Tennessee. Currently sitting at 14 in a row, there has not been a longer win streak in the all-time series. The Vols have capped out at seven, stretching from 1995-2001.

On the field today, quarterback Hendon Hooker is expected to go. He suffered a late ankle injury against Ole Miss and was in doubt throughout the entire week. If they have any chance of winning today, Hooker will have to play at an elite level.

As usual, Alabama Twitter was on fire, preparing for the game. Don’t tell anybody the rivalry with Tennessee is dead because the gumps will have something to say about it.

Social media reacts to Texas’ loss to Oklahoma

Social media went crazy after the Red River Showdown.

The college football world watched as Texas boat-raced Oklahoma in the first half, but ran out of gas and blew what once was a 28-7 lead.

Texas looked as dominant as ever this season in the first half, but when the second half rolled around and Lincoln Riley decided to fully commit to freshman Caleb Williams at quarterback, the Texas defense looked shell-shocked and did not have an answer.

Williams unlocked the Oklahoma playbook and style that we have grown accustomed to thanks to the likes of Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Jalen Hurts. The Longhorns looked more like they did against Arkansas and were exposed by the run game and a mobile quarterback.

It didn’t help that the once electric offense that scored 38 points in the first half, was held to just 10 points the rest of the game. The Longhorns offensive line continues to be disastrous, as four out of the five linemen were amongst the lowest graded players according to PFF. If there is an adjustment that can be made this late into the season, the trigger needs to be pulled.

Casey Thompson performed quite well given the circumstances and was under constant pressure. Even running back Bijan Robinson had to work his magic just to get past the offensive line.

The loss certainly took the wind out of Texas’ sails as it was starting to look like they would be able to dethrone Oklahoma from atop the Big 12. The Longhorns still can control their own destiny, but a loss in this fashion to their most hated rival has to hurt.

Social media was as active as ever during the game, and the tweets went from Texas being back to calling out the Longhorns for choking away the win. Here are some of the many social media reactions to Texas’ devastating 55-48 loss to Oklahoma.

Social media reacts to Texas’ Big 12 championship win

Texas’ Big 12 season could not have ended in a better way with a championship against Oklahoma State.

Texas’ Big 12 season could not have ended in a better way with a tournament championship against Oklahoma State. Shaka Smart’s team only had to win two games due to COVID-19, but got one over a red-hot Cowboy team.

Now, the Longhorns head into Selection Sunday on a five-game win streak and in place to be one of the top three seeds in the bracket. The combination of Matt Coleman, Andrew Jones, and Courtney Ramey have carried Texas to its peak with Jericho Sims emerging as a star.

Heading into this year, it was known that this could be the best team Smart would have. Not only has he delivered, he’s even exceeded expectations. While the party is just getting started, celebrating the school’s first conference tournament win is necessary. Texas fans, personalities, and media members from around the country reacted to the win.
