The Bo Nix buzz is growing in Denver

The Bo Nix buzz is growing in Denver, as the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft keeps lighting up the preseason and training camp

While it’s not been made official yet, pretty much anyone with two working eyes can appreciate that Bo Nix will be named the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos for Week 1. The first-round rookie has been outstanding in his preseason auditions, and the buzz is growing around Nix.

Completing 8-of-9 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown in Denver’s 27-2 romp over the Green Bay Packers in the second preseason game threw some happy gasoline on the Nix fire. That Nix also ran for 10 yards and appeared in full command of head coach Sean Payton’s offense keeps adding more fuel to the growing hype.

Nix was the No. 12 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and the sixth QB selected, but he’s trending strongly toward being a rookie hit in Denver. Here’s some of the social media hype and vibe on Nix:

Social media reaction all over the map for Saints’ selection of Spencer Rattler

Social media weighed in on the Saints’ selection of Spencer Rattler after he was selected in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Former Oklahoma and South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler is off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft, selected by the New Orleans Saints in the fifth round (No. 150 overall).

In his time at Oklahoma, Rattler was pinned as the early Heisman Trophy favorite and potential No. 1 overall NFL draft pick. That didn’t happen, though, as he was ultimately surpassed by former teammate Caleb Williams, who ascended after transferring to USC under Lincoln Riley.

Rattler also had a change of scenery, moving on to South Carolina. He didn’t return to his former expectations, though much of that wasn’t his fault and was due to poor pass protection and a deficient supporting cast. But he was still able to rewrite his narrative with a second chance, later named the Senior Bowl MVP in an offseason showcase with several other highly touted quarterbacks.

Those names included Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix.

Here’s a look at what social media had to say about Rattler, the general perception of the quarterback and the fit:

Social media reacts to Auburn’s huge win over Alabama

Auburn fans hope to avoid being fouled as they celebrate their team’s big win over rival Alabama.

The game may have taken two hours and 39 minutes to complete, but the result is sweet for Auburn fans.

Auburn fans inside and out of Neville Arena are celebrating as their No. 11 Tigers took rival, No. 16 Alabama, to the woodshed on Wednesday night. Auburn dominated in the paint, in the fast break, and off the bench in its win over the Crimson Tide, 99-81.

The most notable takeaway from the game was the number of fouls called for both teams. Auburn was fouled 33 times while the Crimson Tide were on the receiving end of 28 fouls. Both teams combined to take 85 shots from the free-throw line.

Following the game Auburn fans visited X (formerly Twitter) to share their happiness. Here are the best social media reactions to Auburn’s victory over Alabama.

Wisconsin football social media is not happy about Alex Grinch being named Badgers’ co-DC

Wisconsin football social media is not happy about Alex Grinch being named the Badgers’ co-DC

The Wisconsin football program officially announced the hire of former USC and Oklahoma defensive coordinator Alex Grinch earlier today. He will be the Badgers’ new safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator.

Grinch takes over after Colin Hitschler left for a similar position under Kalen DeBoer at Alabama. He does bring years of experience as defensive coordinator, though not the experience everybody may be looking for. The assistant coach was only available for hire because he was fired as USC’s defensive coordinator in early November of 2023 as the Trojans were on pace to have one of the worst defenses in the country.

There is a track record of good years as a position coach, however, as Grinch is a four-time nominee for the Broyles Award for the nation’s top assistant coach with time spent in those roles at Washington State (2015-2017) and Ohio State (2018).

Regardless of his pedigree as a position coach, Badgers fans are not happy with the co-defensive coordinator tag. The fan sentiment can be clearly seen in the replies to Wisconsin’s tweet confirming the hire:

Social media reacts to Auburn losing to Mississippi State

Auburn has now lost back-to-back games and is 2-3 in true road games this season.

For the first time this season, the Auburn Tigers have lost back-to-back basketball games. They were unable to get anything going offensively Saturday at Mississippi State, falling 64-58 in Humphrey Coliseum.

Auburn’s 58 points are the fewest they have scored all season and the first time they scored under 60 since they scored 54 against Kentucky last season.

It was yet another rough shooting night for the Tigers, who made 33.9% (19-56) of their field goals, and just 25% (6-24) of their 3-pointers. They were great from the free-throw line though, going 14-of-16.

[autotag]Johni Broome[/autotag] led Auburn with 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. [autotag]Jaylin Williams[/autotag] also finished in double figures, scoring 10 points of his own.

The Auburn family wished Trovon Reed well as he leaves the Plains for his first on-field coaching job at UCF.

One of Auburn’s most important recruiters is leaving the Plains.

[autotag]Trovon Reed[/autotag], who has been Auburn’s director of football and player relations since 2022, has been hired by Gus Malzahn as UCF’s cornerbacks coach. It is Reed’s first on-field coaching job.

Social Media reacts to Texas A&M hiring Mike Elko as the 30th head football coach

Texas A&M has found their man, as former Duke head coach Mike Elko is headed to College Station, and the media/fan base approved.

The search is finally over, as Texas A&M will officially hire Mike Elko as the program’s new head coach, and the former Aggie defensive coordinator and recent Duke head coach will return to College Station for the first time in four seasons.

This decision did not come smoothly, as current Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops was reportedly the first candidate to secure the position before a wave of fan outrage essentially nixed the deal, leading to Texas A&M Athletic Director Ross Bjork to make the proper decision to bring in the choice that simply made the most sense.

While the fan base widely bemoaned the potential hiring of Mark Stoops, the reaction to Elko has been the polar opposite, as everyone was reminded that when serving as former Aggie head coach Jimbo Fisher’s defense coordinator, Texas A&M was 34-12, and just 12-12 after Elko departed for Duke.

With the new era of Aggie football set to begin, a press conference to announce Mike Elko’s hiring is set for Monday afternoon. Here are the best social media reactions to Texas A&M hiring Mike Elko as the program’s 30th head football coach.

Social media reacts to Auburn’s thrilling season-opening loss to Baylor

Auburn may have lost but the Tiger faithful are excited for the return of college basketball.

[autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and Auburn basketball opened the 2023-24 season with an exciting matchup against the No. 17 Baylor Bears and the game absolutely delivered.

The Tigers held a 43-34 lead at halftime but were unable to hold on and fell 88-82 to the Bears Tuesday night in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

After struggling to shoot from deep last season, Pearl and Co. went out and targeted three-point shooters and that work paid off, the Tigers made 47.4% of their threes. Five-star freshman [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag] led the way, draining four of his eight shots from deep and scoring a team-high 19 points to go with six rebounds in his Auburn debut.

[autotag]Johni Broome[/autotag] recorded his first double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. While the loss stings, the game showed that this Auburn team has plenty of potential and fired up the Auburn fanbase, here are the top reactions.
