WATCH: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes warms up before snowy ‘SNF’ matchup vs. Packers

Patrick Mahomes was seen warming up in the snow ahead of the #Chiefs’ Week 13 matchup against the #Packers on “Sunday Night Football”.

The Kansas City Chiefs are just hours away from taking the field against the Green Bay Packers in a highly anticipated Sunday Night Football matchup in Week 13.

Kansas City enters the game as the favorite, but in snowy conditions at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, a Packers upset isn’t entirely out of the question.

Reigning MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes was seen warming up his arm as snowflakes fell around him in a video posted by the NFL’s official Twitter account.

Mahomes is no stranger to snow games and may be primed for an exceptionally special performance against Green Bay at one of the league’s most iconic venues.

Kansas City needs a win to maintain its spot in the AFC playoff standings. The Chiefs stand to lose control over their destiny if they can’t handle business tonight in Eastern Wisconsin, so Mahomes and his supporting cast on Andy Reid’s offense will need to lock in as they prepare for less-than-ideal field conditions.

Broncos vs. Chiefs could be a snow game on Sunday

The Broncos’ showdown with the Chiefs on Sunday could be a snow game.

The Denver Broncos’ showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday could be a snow game.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning in effect until noon on Sunday. The warning calls for “heavy snow” with possible snow accumulations between 4 and 10 inches between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

The Broncos had a snow game against the Chiefs on the road in 2019, a game Kansas City won 23-3. One season later, Denver had snow flurries in a 43-16 home loss to the Chiefs in 2020.

Even non-Broncos fans and non-Chiefs fans have expressed excitement for the possibility of a snow game on Twitter/X.

Sunday’s loss to Bears in Seattle stings for Pete Carroll and Seahawks

Coach Pete Carroll called the Seattle Seahawks Week 16 defeat by the Chicago Bears, “as disappointing a loss as we’ve had.”

The Seattle Seahawks fell to the Bears Sunday afternoon at a snowy Lumen Field after Chicago scored late in the fourth quarter and pulled ahead by one point after a successful two-point conversion. Seattle was heavily favored heading into the matchup but the win wasn’t to be.

“That was about as disappointing a loss as we’ve had,” coach Pete Carroll said after the defeat. “We were in control in so many ways to win it and put it away, and we just never did and let them stay alive, and they found a way to make their plays, and we had to do some stuff to give them that opportunity, and they took advantage of it, and give them credit.

“They’ve been struggling all year too, and it’s a big win for those guys.”

Chicago came to the Emerald City was an unimpressive record of 4-10 on the season. Now the Bears and the Seahawks are both 5-10 with no chance of finishing out with a winning record. For Carroll, it’s a tough pill to swallow.

“I feel like I have to do more,” Carroll said. “I feel at a time like this, I feel like I’ve got to find ways to help our guys more so we don’t get in a situation where we can give them a chance. That’s what I’m doing. I’m going to try to figure out how I can help and get us cleaner right down the stretch and win a football game and not give something up and the penalties that we did and all that kind of stuff. We have things we can do better. We have to do better. I’m asking them to do the same thing.”

The Seahawks have just two more games left in their 2021 season – against the Lions on Jan. 2 and at the Cardinals on Jan. 9.

Here are eight takeaways from a stunning winter wonderland of a loss.

Here are eight takeaways from a stunning winter wonderland of a loss.

Seahawks, Bears preparing for legitimate snow game in Seattle

Today’s matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Bears is shaping up to be a legitimate snow game.

Today’s matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Bears is shaping up to be a legitimate snow game.

Take a look at this clip from Fox this morning on the scene at Lumen Field.

Here are some other looks at the snow from various places around the city.

The forecast is calling for anywhere between three and five inches of snow.

At kickoff time it will be around 23 degrees with winds up to 12mph.

Sounds like circumstances for some good old-fashioned establishing of the run. The team’s pass/run ratio has been inconsistent at best mostly in 2021, though. Coach Pete Carroll has lamented not running the ball more on more than one occasion.

Seattle’s rushing attack is currently being led by Rashaad Penny, who had a breakout game against the Texans two weeks ago but only got 11 carries and 39 yards against the Rams. DeeJay Dallas has become the backup option.
