Colts’ Skai Moore, Rolan Milligan intend to return after 2020 opt out

Colts get some more depth.

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Skai Moore and safety Rolan Milligan intend to return to the team after opting out of the 2020 season.

This completes the trio of players who opted out for the season due to COVID-19 concerns. The other was cornerback Marvell Tell, who opted out following his rookie campaign.

But now, the Colts are set to have both Moore and Milligan back on the roster for the 2021 season.

Both Moore and Milligan would hold depth roles if the Colts decide to keep them. Moore signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and has worked mostly on the practice squad during his time with the team.

Milligan held a bigger role as a rotational piece in the safety room, playing 11 games in 2019.

Colts LB Skai Moore to opt out of 2020 season

First Colts player to opt out is LB Skai Moore.

Linebacker Skai Moore informed the Indianapolis Colts he will opt out of the 2020 season, the team announced Tuesday.

Moore is the first Colts player to opt out of the 2020 season amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Several players across the league have decided to use the option to opt out due to the coronavirus.

After informing the team, Moore will receive either $350,000 if considered medically at-risk or a $150,000 salary advance.

Competing for a depth spot in the linebacker room, Moore had an uphill battle to make the roster given the depth already present at the position. Behind Darius Leonard, Anthony Walker Jr., Bobby Okereke and E.J. Speed, there are only two spots up for grabs.

Moore joined the Colts following the 2018 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent rookie and has spent most of his tenure on the practice squad.
