Superstar JUCO guard schedules visit to Auburn

Auburn has its sights set on Abdul Bashir, who is averaging 28.1 points per game in 16 games for Casper College this season.

Sharp-shooting guard Abdul Bashir is reportedly gearing up to visit Auburn next month according to On3 Sports. The freshman, who currently plays his college ball for Casper College in Wyoming, is averaging 28.1 points per game in 16 games so far this season.

Although he is listed as a point guard, Bashir has the size and tools to play almost anywhere on the floor. His athletic build and three-level scoring ability make him an intriguing transfer portal option, especially considering head coach Bruce Pearl’s willingness to bring in lower-level high ceiling standouts like [autotag]Chad Baker-Mazara[/autotag] and [autotag]Chaney Johnson[/autotag].

The success enjoyed by the aforementioned pair, along with Auburn’s glaring need to add pieces to what will be a depleted roster next season, make Bashir a near perfect fit to join the Tigers. As it currently stands, the talented JUCO guard has plenty of offers from Division 1 schools, with Arizona State, Texas A&M, and Kansas State the most glaring favorites.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Bruce Pearl and his staff extend an offer of their own to Bashir when he visits Auburn in early February. If we were to accept, he’d instantly improve a 2025 class that currently ranks No. 15 in the country behind the trio of [autotag]Sebastian Williams-Adams[/autotag], [autotag]Kaden Magwood[/autotag], and [autotag]Simon Walker[/autotag].

In 33 career games with Casper College, Bashir is averaging 19.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He has also connected on just over 45% of his 3-point attempts.

Four-star forward Sebastian Williams-Adams commits to Auburn

The nation’s No. 10 forward from the 2025 recruiting cycle announced Sunday that he us taking his talents to the Plains.

Auburn basketball has added another talented player to its 2025 recruiting haul.

[autotag]Sebastian Williams-Adams[/autotag], a four-star forward from Houston, Texas, announced Sunday that he has committed to Auburn. He is the third member of Auburn’s 2025 haul, joining fellow four-star guards [autotag]Kaden Magwood[/autotag] and [autotag]Simon Walker[/autotag].

During a fall visit to the Plains, Williams-Adams told Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover that Auburn head coach [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] projected a “family environment” and spent plenty of time with him and his family. When it comes to the ultimate decision maker, Williams-Adams says that Pearl can build a strong future for him.

“Ever since the Top 100 Camp, he has not let it be lost on me that he wants me here and he believes he’s the one to get me to the next level,” Williams-Adams said. “Having that type of confidence from a coach is really refreshing and exciting.”

According to 247Sports, Williams-Adams’s commitment has lifted Auburn to No. 14 nationally in the 2025 recruiting rankings. Auburn also ranks No. 6 in the SEC behind programs such as Arkansas (No. 4), Kentucky (No. 5), and Alabama (No. 10). Williams-Adams is the No. 10 forward from the 2025 cycle and the No. 3 overall recruit from Texas.

Auburn target AJ Dybansta moves up commitment timeline

The Auburn target recently told ESPN he expects his decision to come before the calendar turns to 2025.

The No. 1 basketball recruit in the 2025 class has reportedly moved up his decision timeline after seeing the first week-plus of the college basketball season unfold.

[autotag]AJ Dybansta[/autotag], widely considered one of the best high school prospects in the past decade, recently told ESPN he expects his decision to come sometime in December.

“We are ahead of where we thought we would be. If I know where I want to go, why wait? It’s probably going to be in December. I feel I will be ready by then,” Dybantsa said in an interview with ESPN.

The 6-9 wing forward is currently projected to stay in his home state of Utah, joining BYU. However, Auburn is among six other schools, including SEC rival Alabama and possible Maui Invitational opponent North Carolina, on Dybantsa’s radar.

The Hurricane, Utah native last visited the Plains on March 2. Although the consensus top recruit in the 2025 cycle has made trips to BYU, Alabama, North Carolina, Kansas, and Kansas State more recently, Auburn remains in the mix because of the lack of front-court options going into next season. The 17-year-old’s most direct path to big minutes could be with Bruce Pearl’s Tigers. Dybansta’s decision may ultimately come down to which school he feels will help him develop his play style the best.

Speaking further with ESPN, the projected NBA lottery pick said he and his family are keeping a close eye on the way his prospective schools are coached.

“We are observing how the coaches manage their teams, how they react when they have a lead or are behind, how they run their offense, and whether their overall play style matches what they’ve communicated to us,” Dybantsa said.

If Dybansta were to commit to the Tigers, he’d join recently committed guard Kaden Magwood and four-star slasher [autotag]Simon Walker[/autotag] as the foundation of next season’s class.

Four-star guard Kaden Magwood lists Auburn among top schools

Auburn is in the mix to land the No. 2 recruit from North Carolina for the 2025 cycle.

2025 four-star shooting guard [autotag]Kaden Magwood[/autotag] has narrowed his list down to three schools ahead of his commitment on November 11.

The 6-1 prospect recently told On3’s Joe Tipton that NC State, Ole Miss, and Auburn have made the final three ahead of next month’s announcement.

A consensus top-60 recruit in the nation, Magwood is the No. 2 ranked player from the state of North Carolina. While he lacks the size of a normal top recruit, Magwood’s quickness around the rim and mid-range game helped him average nearly 23 points per game on the 3SSB Circuit this summer. Between his scoring ability and slightly undersized nature, Magwood sees a lot of former Auburn star guard Sharife Cooper in himself. The coaching staff… said I’m a scoring point guard, so I feel like I could come in and be a Sharife Cooper-type of guard, or whoever they have had there.”

The Charlotte, North Carolina native took an official visit to the Plains a few weeks ago and received an offer shortly after. When speaking with On3, Magwood explained how Auburn’s atmosphere made him feel a part of something special.

“I was there for a football game, I mean, they lost that game, but the atmosphere was great,” Magwood said. “They were up at halftime, so there were a lot of people there and a great atmosphere. I really liked it.”

If Magwood were to commit to Auburn, he’d join 2025 commit [autotag]Simon Walker[/autotag] to create a solid 1-2 combo guard punch at the top of next season’s recruiting class.

We’ll see if Auburn’s early season success, or lack thereof, will have any impact on Magwood’s decision in November. [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and his Tigers open up the 2024-25 campaign on November 6 against Vermont at Neville Arena.

Auburn lands 4-star guard Simon Walker

The high school senior averaged 11 points per game last season at Huntsville High School

Auburn basketball made a splash on Thursday, as Bruce Pearl and his coaching staff landing four-star shooting guard Simon Walker’s commitment. The 6-foot-4, 175-pound outside scorer was a consensus top 25 shooting guard in the 2025 class.

A native of Huntsville, AL, Walker had recently taken visits to Auburn, Virginia Tech, Butler, and Iowa before ultimately committing to become a Tiger on Friday. The high school senior averaged 11 points per game last season at Huntsville High School, helping the Hornets finish with an all-time school record 32 wins and No. 2 ranking in the state once the season came to an end.

Walker profiles as a perimeter scorer with “microwave” shooting ability that could suit Bruce Pearl’s 4-out-1-in offense very well. With a career shooting percentage just over 50% in high school, Walker can provide the Tigers with the outside shooting they have dearly missed over the last few seasons when he lands on the Plains in 2025.

While he will surely enjoy his final year of high school, the future Tiger is excited to join Bruce Pearl’s rotation on the Plains. Speaking with AL.com, the guard elaborated on his decision to commit to the Tigers,  “I’ve been able to build a relationship with the entire staff over the past couple of years; it’s been great… It’s closer to home, the SEC is one of the best conferences in the country. I can really see myself in the whole environment and the fan base, just really fitting in on campus.” said Walker.

The No. 2 recruit from the state of Alabama will begin his senior season with Huntsville High School later this fall. We’ll see if he can help lead his team to another record breaking season in 2024-2025.
