Shay Colley had a strong effort in Canada’s Olympics opener, despite a loss to France

Former Michigan State women’s basketball guard Shay Colley is competing in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Colley, a professional basketball player in France, is competing for Canada in the games.

In Canada’s opener against the hosts France, the Canadians lost 75-54, but Colley gave a strong effort.

The former Spartan racked up a team high in points and assists, finishing with 11 points and 6 assists in the contest.

Canada will be back in action against Australia on Thursday at 7:30 a.m.

A trio of Spartans will be competing in the 2024 Olympic Games from Paris.

The Olympics officially begins on Friday, and there will be three Michigan State Spartans competing in the games. Here’s the breakdown of the Spartans:

  • Heath Baldwin in the decathlon for the United States
  • Tori Franklin in the triple jump for the United States
  • Shay Colley in basketball for Canada

The Olympics will be televised on NBC.

Shay Colley makes Canadian Senior Women’s Basketball Team

Former Michigan State women’s basketball player Shay Colley was announced to the Canadian 2020 Tokyo Olympic team yesterday. The Brampton, Ontario native has been on the Canadian national team since 2017.

Colley was on the team during the 2018 Commonwealth Games and FIBA World Cup tournament. The guard will be joined by other notable players like Kia Nurse, Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe, Kayla Alexander and Nirra Fields.

Colley played two seasons for the Spartans after transferring from Pittsburgh in 2016. She also a spent a season with South Carolina before transferring to Pittsburgh.

Colley played 53 games with the Spartans and averaged 13.3 points per game, with 5.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
