4-star PG Jeremiah Green is a fan of Auburn’s play style

Auburn is firmly in the mix for Jeremiah Green, one of the top point guards in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

[autotag]Jeremiah Green[/autotag] is one of the best point guards in the 2025 recruiting cycle and a major target for [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and Auburn. The Tigers hosted the 6-foot-3, 180-pounder on an official visit back in September and it’s safe to say he liked what he saw.

“I thought Auburn was great too,” he told On3’s Joe Tipton. “It’s kind of like A&M, really family. I talked to coach (Bruce) Pearl a lot. Just the way they play with their guards, like the past guards — [autotag]Sharife Cooper[/autotag], [autotag]Jared Harper[/autotag], and [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag] now. Their play style I really like. The area was a great too.”

Green is the No. 57 overall player and No. 8 point guard in the On3 Industry Ranking. The Denton, Texas native recently transferred to Sunrise Christian Academy and is now the No. 1 player from Kansas.

Auburn is not the only school pursuing the talented guard with him also visiting Texas A&M, Houston, Kansas State and Oklahoma State.

Green, Cooper win NBA Summer League championship with Cleveland Cavaliers

Sharife Cooper and Wendell Green Jr. were a part of the Cavaliers run to a summer league tournament championship.

The Cleveland Cavaliers took home the NBA Summer League championship on Monday by defeating the Houston Rockets, 99-78.

Among those on the championship roster are two former Tigers, [autotag]Sharife Cooper[/autotag] and [autotag]Wendell Green Jr.[/autotag]

The duo played in four games each during the NBA Summer League tournament that took place in Las Vegas. Cooper played an average of 21.5 minutes per game and scored 13.5 points. As for Green, he scored 2.0 points per contest in his first action as a professional player. Neither played in the championship game due to a decision made by the coach according to ESPN.

The Cavaliers were led by a stellar cast of Sam Merril, Isaiah Mobley, Emoni Bates, and Craig Porter Jr. this Summer League session, as each player joined Cooper in scoring double-digits each night.

On the other side, Jabari Smith Jr. made plenty of noise in his short time with the Houston Rockets. In two games, Smith scored 35.5 points and secured 7.0 rebounds per game. He did not compete in Monday’s championship game.

How does Sharife Cooper feel about his professional career?

Cooper is working this summer to earn a spot on the Cleveland Cavaliers’ roster.

[autotag]Sharife Cooper[/autotag] was one of the most highly anticipated recruits to ever come through the Auburn Basketball program.

According to 247Sports, Cooper is the third-highest-ranked recruit the Tigers have ever landed.

Things did not go exactly as planned, however, as an NCAA investigation, a shortened season, and injuries heavily limited Cooper’s time on the court and he only played in 12 games.

The Powder Springs, Georgia native was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the 48th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. After filling the role of a two-way player for the Hawks in the 2021-22 season, Cooper did the same thing for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2022-23 season.

Cooper offered his perspective on why he does not have a permanent spot on an NBA roster when talking to reporters last week. An AL.com article included what Cooper had to say.

“You got to control what you can control,” Cooper said. “It’s so hard to think about: What can I do to get to the next level? You get so caught up into that, you kind of lose focus on where you are.”

Cooper also gave some insight into his thought process for his career.

“I try not to think like that,” Cooper said. “I’m blessed to have this opportunity. Not too many people get to say they can come to a summer league and have a training camp in the NBA. I try not to lose the thought that I’m extremely blessed to be where I am, and, hopefully, I just take care of what I have to take care of and let everything else take care of itself.”

Cooper is determined to show that he is capable of a full-time spot on an NBA roster.

Three former Tigers to play in NBA 2k24 Summer League

jabari Smith, Sharife Cooper and Wendell Green Jr. are set to return to the court.

Three former Tigers are set to compete in the NBA 2K24 Summer League 2023. The event will take place on July 7-17 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.

[autotag]Jabari Smith[/autotag] headlines the group after being drafted by the Houston Rockets with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft. He is joined by guards [autotag]Sharife Cooper[/autotag] and [autotag]Wendell Green Jr.[/autotag] who will both be playing with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Smith was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team after averaging 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Rockets. He will be looking to improve his efficiency after shooting 40.8% from the field and just 30.7% from deep last season.

Cooper is looking to show he is ready to compete in the NBA after making the All-NBA G League Second Team last season. He averaged 21.3 points, 6.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game for the Cleveland Charge last season.

Green went undrafted in the 2023 NBA draft and is looking to earn a contract.

Every game of the event will be on either an ESPN network (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPNews) or NBA TV. You can also stream them on the ESPN App or NBA App.

Here is a look at the schedule for both the Cavaliers and the Rockets.

Auburn to receive visit from Vanderbilt’s leading scorer

Another big-name guard is considering Auburn for a new home.

As usual, Auburn basketball head coach [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] is going above and beyond in his efforts to bring in top talent from the transfer portal.

He is doing so on Friday as Nathan King of Auburn Undercover reports that Vanderbilt’s leading scorer from last season, [autotag]Tyrin Lawrence[/autotag], is taking an official visit to Auburn ($).

Lawrence is a rising senior guard from Monticello, Georgia, who signed with Vanderbilt as a member of the 2020 signing class. Auburn had amazing success recruiting in the Peach State during the 2020 cycle, as the state’s top-three recruits: [autotag]Walker Kessler[/autotag], [autotag]Sharife Cooper[/autotag], and [autotag]J.T. Thor[/autotag], all played for Auburn. [autotag]Dylan Cardwell[/autotag] was the state’s No. 11 prospect for the 2020 class.

Since arriving at Vanderbilt, Lawrence has played in 77 games and has an average of 8.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He has a field goal percentage of 48% and shoots 73% from the free-throw stripe.

As a junior during the 2022-23 season, Lawrence led the Commodores in scoring by averaging 13.1 points per game. He turned in 24 games of double-figures and scored 20 or more points in six games. During Vanderbilt’s NIT run, Lawrence averaged 19 points and eight rebounds per game. During the first two games of the NIT, Lawrence had a 25-point game against Yale in round one and scored 24 points against Michigan in round two.

Auburn has added two transfers in [autotag]Denver Jones[/autotag] from FIU and [autotag]Cheney Johnson[/autotag] from Alabama-Huntsville so far in this window and recently received a visit from [autotag]Matthew Cleveland[/autotag] of Florida State.

Auburn signee Aden Holloway set to compete in McDonald’s All-American game on Tuesday

Be sure to watch Holloway compete on Tuesday night in the prestigious All-American game.

Auburn 2023 signee [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag] will compete on the big stage Tuesday night as he takes the floor at the McDonald’s All-American Game in Houston, Texas.

Holloway is Auburn’s lone high school signee of the 2023 cycle, but he is considered to be one of the nation’s best guards of the class. He is the No. 6 overall player from the State of California, and the No. 6 point guard according to 247Sports, which also lists him as a four-star prospect.

Holloway was named to the McDonald’s All-American East team roster in January, as he plans to represent his hometown of Matthews, North Carolina. In the game, he will be teammates with Michigan State signee Xavier Booker, Oregon signee Kwame Brown, and Colorado signee Cody Williams.

ESPN’s Paul Biancardi says that he is looking forward to the matchup between Holloway and the son of NBA legend Lebron James, Bronny James, on Tuesday.

Holloway is one of the best shot-makers in the class. He shot 40% this season and can shoot it from deep with a quick trigger. He makes shots in diverse ways: catch-and-shoot actions, cutting off screens and stopping behind ball screens. He is an impactful jump shooter you must stay connected with. James has made considerable progress, becoming an all-around player with an upside as a defender. He utilizes instincts and emerging athletic ability to play one-on-one defense, take a charge or make an impressive chase down clock. His IQ and shot-making have been steady all season. Covering Holloway is a challenge for anyone. James has to able limit his 3s and contest his shots as he anticipates his dribble drive. Will Holloway keep James from getting a driving line angle and making a highlight?

Holloway is the fifth Auburn signee ever to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game, joining [autotag]Korvotney Barber[/autotag], [autotag]Sharife Cooper[/autotag], [autotag]Frank Ford[/autotag], and most recently, a first-round selection of the Houston Rockets, [autotag]Jabari Smith[/autotag].

The McDonald’s All-American Game will be broadcasted live on ESPN at 8 p.m. CT.

Aden Holloway becomes the first Auburn signee to earn the honor since Jabari Smith in 2021.

Class of 2024 Auburn signee [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag] has joined an elite company.

Not only is he one of the best players to ever sign with Auburn, but he is also one of the few Auburn signees to ever earn the honor of being a McDonald’s All-American.

Holloway was one of 24 players named to the 2023 McDonald’s All-American game on Tuesday. The Matthews, North Carolina native will compete on the East team, alongside Michigan State signee Xavier Booker, Oregon signee Kwame Brown, and Colorado signee Cody Williams.

5-star PG Tahaad Pettiford puts Auburn in top 7

The Tigers are in a great place for one of the best point guards in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

[autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and Auburn have landed some impressive recruiting classes since he took over but the 2024 class has the chance to be the best one yet.

One of Auburn’s top targets is five-star point guard [autotag]Tahaad Pettiford[/autotag] and on Monday he included Auburn in his top seven schools. They will be battling UCLA, Kansas, Kentucky, UConn, Seton Hall, and Ole Miss for the New Jersey native.

Pettiford is the No. 21 overall player and No. 2 point guard in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 2 prospect from New Jersey.

The Tigers were one of his first offers, extending an offer back on June 15, 2022, to the 5-foot-11, 160-pound point guard. That move paid off as he took an official visit to the Plains on Sept. 17, 2022. That is currently the only visit he has taken and is one of the reasons the Tigers are the heavy favorites to land him.

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Tigers have a 78.5% chance of landing him. If that does happen, he would become the second highest-rated signee in program history. Trailing [autotag]Jabari Smith[/autotag] and just edging out [autotag]Sharife Cooper[/autotag].

He isn’t the only five-star high on Auburn in the 2024 recruiting class, small-forward [autotag]Ace Bailey[/autotag] announced his top 12 schools on Sunday and the Tigers made the cut. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine also believes the Tigers are the overwhelming favorite to land Bailey, giving them a 94.2% chance of landing him.

Auburn makes shortlist for 2024 five-star forward

Auburn was one of the first programs to extend an offer to the 2024 product and is the overwhelming favorite to earn his commitment.

One of the top prospects from the 2024 recruiting cycle has listed Auburn among his top choices.

Airious “Ace” Bailey, a five-star small forward from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia dropped his top 12 college choices on Sunday. Auburn has made the cut alongside Arkansas, Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee.

Auburn reached out to Bailey early in his recruitment, becoming his fourth offer on August 29, 2021. Because of this, Bailey returned the favor by choosing Auburn for his first official visit on Sept. 16, 2022. He has also taken an official visit to Kentucky and has visited Tennessee and Georgia Tech unofficially.

How big of a chance does Auburn have at landing his commitment? According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Tigers are the overwhelming favorite. According to On3, Auburn has a 94.2% chance of signing him.

In a recent interview with Joe Tipton of On3, Bailey says that he likes Bruce Pearl’s ability to put players in the NBA.

“I like how they play, with their big guards like with Jabari (Smith), JT Thor. A lot of guys in my position, they’ve put in the league,” Bailey said. “A lot of people compare me to Jabari. Bruce Pearl is a tough coach. He coaches hard.”

Bailey is the No. 4 forward from the 2024 recruiting cycle according to On3, and the No. 1 recruit from the state of Georgia. Auburn has had recent success recruiting McEachern High School for talent. [autotag]Sharife Cooper[/autotag] and [autotag]Dylan Cardwell[/autotag] signed with Auburn as part of the 2020 class from McEachern.

Former Auburn hooper posts career-high numbers in G-League contest

After a performance like this, Sharife Cooper may be getting a call to join the NBA soon.

Last offseason, [autotag]Sharife Cooper[/autotag] signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers after spending his rookie season with the hometown Atlanta Hawks for the 2021-22 season.

Prior to this season, Cooper was waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers but found a way to be included in the organization’s G-League club, the Cleveland Charge. In Tuesday’s game against the Grand Rapids Gold, Cooper posted numbers that may get him noticed by the Cavs.

In a 122-116 loss to the Gold on Tuesday, Cooper went 16-of-29 from the field, scoring 42 points. It marks the second straight game for Cooper in which he scored at least 30 points. He also recorded 12 assists.

Cooper spent one season on the Plains, where he earned SEC All-Freshman honors for the 2020-21 season. In 12 games, Cooper averaged 20.2 points and 4.3 per game for the Tigers.

During his rookie season with the Hawks, Cooper saw minimal action. He appeared in 13 games, averaging 3.0 minutes per outing.
