Shaquille O’Neal said he’d stick his hand in a hornet nest if Charlotte beats the Atlanta Hawks

What could go wrong?

The Charlotte Hornets are making their second straight trip to the NBA play-in tournament, and not many are expecting it to go much better than last season’s embarrassing 144-117 loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Shaquille O’Neal is so sure that he’s even willing to risk an awfully painful experience.

The No. 10 seed Hornets face the No. 9 seed Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday for a chance to play the Cleveland Cavaliers to get the East’s No. 8 seed. While the Hawks haven’t been able to play at last season’s level, they closed out the season on a 7-2 stretch with Trae Young playing some of his best basketball.

That was enough to have Shaq saying this on Tuesday night:

Shaq said that he would stick his hand in an actual hornet nest if the Hornets eliminate the Hawks. Now, I’m not sure if Shaq would actually go through with it because multiple hornet stings could turn life threatening for some people. But maybe there’s room for a compromise here.

If the Hornets win, TNT could bring in YouTuber Coyote Peterson and walk Shaq through a single hornet sting. After all, Peterson did willingly allow a “Murder Hornet” to sting him once. He’s an expert in that sort of thing.

Of course, a Hawks win would save Shaq from that scenario entirely. So, he should just hope for that.

Shaquille O’Neal picking Sixers to sweep Raptors in Round 1 of playoffs

Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal is picking the Philadelphia 76ers to sweep the Toronto Raptors in Round 1 of the playoffs.

The 2021-22 regular season is in the books and now it’s time for the playoffs. The Philadelphia 76ers compiled a 51-31 record and they now will enter the postseason as the No. 4 seed and host the Toronto Raptors in Round 1 beginning with Game 1 on Saturday.

The Raptors took three of the four matchups in the regular season with the Sixers, with star guard Fred VanVleet not playing in three of those games, and this seems like it will be a competitive series. The Matisse Thybulle factor will play a role in this series as well with his vaccination status not allowing him to play in Toronto.

However, Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal isn’t worried about all of that. He’s picking the Sixers to sweep the Raptors in this series.

It is hard to see the Sixers sweep this series even with the immense talent they have on the roster led by Joel Embiid and James Harden, but Philadelphia should be favored in this series. They do have the two best players in this series. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Sixers star Joel Embiid officially wins 2022 scoring title, 1st big since Shaq

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid will officially win the 2022 scoring title to be the first big man to do so since Shaquille O’Neal.

The Philadelphia 76ers have one final game left as they prepare for the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night before the playoffs, but they received some news concerning their star big man and his quest for history.

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is out for their season finale with the Cleveland Cavaliers. That means that Joel Embiid will officially win the 2022 scoring title as he is averaging 30.6 points per game. He is the first center to lead the league in scoring since the great Shaquille O’Neal in 2000.

Embiid’s scoring average is also the first time a big man will average at least 30 points in a season since Moses Malone in the 1981-82 season. He accomplished that feat on Saturday.

Embiid and the Sixers will now look to finish off their season the right way on Sunday before heading into the playoffs. They will most likely take on the Toronto Raptors so that will be a challenge for the big fella and the rest of the team.

Shaq says he supports his son Shareef O’Neal’s decision to transfer from LSU

The elder O’Neal and former LSU star voiced his support for his son, who entered the transfer portal last week.

LSU expected to see some attrition this offseason in the aftermath of the decision to fire men’s basketball coach [autotag]Will Wade[/autotag]. But nobody expected quite the roster turnover we’ve seen in Baton Rouge over the last couple of weeks.

Since the Tigers lost to Iowa State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, new coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] has seen the entire roster depart, either to the 2022 NBA draft (in the case of [autotag]Tari Eason[/autotag] and [autotag]Darius Days[/autotag]) or the transfer portal.

Among the latter group is LSU legacy [autotag]Shareef O’Neal[/autotag], whose father [autotag]Shaquille O’Neal[/autotag] had a legendary career with the Tigers before going on to have an even more legendary career in the NBA.

The younger O’Neal, who joined the Tigers as a transfer from UCLA two years ago, was never able to make much of an impact on the court and entered the transfer portal last week. In an appearance on The Big Podcast, Shaq voiced his support for his son’s decision to transfer.

“Wherever he decides I’m behind him,” Shaq said. “He’s a grown man making a decision and has kinda had a lot of basketball bad luck… We go to LSU where I thought they would take care of him but they didn’t, they have their own problem down there. I hope wherever he goes he gets a shot.

“I have a Giannis (Antetokounmpo) with a jump shot, that’s how I raised him… but people don’t know.”

That’s quite a lofty comparison, but O’Neal certainly has the talent. The former top-50 recruit has disappointed to this point in his career, though.

O’Neal was originally committed to Arizona in high school before the same investigation that is ironically now plaguing LSU resulted in the termination of coach Sean Miller. He ended up in Westwood, where he averaged just 10.2 minutes, 2.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in 13 games as a true freshman.

In Baton Rouge, those numbers haven’t changed much. He registered a career-high in points this past season with 2.9 per game, but his average minutes per game dropped from 14.9 to 9.2.

O’Neal will be a senior in 2022-23 but has an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19. He will hope to finally shake the “basketball bad luck,” as his father put it, at his next stop.

Shaq walked off set after seeing this hilarious NBA 2K simulation between him and Candace Parker

“He too little!”

Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most dominant players in NBA history. His NBA on TNT co-analyst Candace Parker is one of the most dominant players in WNBA history. So TNT producers had the brilliant idea of pitting the two against each other in a simulated game of NBA 2K.

They put five Shaqs on one team and five Parkers on the other, and let them have at each other in a game to 21. And what came from it is honestly one of the most hilarious segments on a show that regularly produces a lot of laughs.

Team Diesel had a long day.

It started with Shaq bricking a three and went downhill from there for the big guy. Parker had simulated Shaq touching the ground on crossovers and was splashing stepback threes in the Big Aristotle’s face. But it wasn’t until virtual 6-foot-4 Parker dunked on the seven-footer’s avatar that real-life Shaq had to walk off set.

“He too little!”

This was just art. Everything about it. From the actual footage to Parker’s avatar “eating” after a dunk that put Shaq on his butt to her and Dwyane Wade’s instigating his annoyance afterwards. It obviously wouldn’t go like that in real life, and everybody knows it. But the fact Shaq still had the competitive desire to dominate in a video game simulation and it not go exactly how he’d imagine is just funny.

My guess is the game ratings were juiced a tad to make it more interesting. Because, number one, Shaq ain’t pulling up from three on a crossover. And we don’t even need to get into what Parker was doing. But it made for great TV, so I’m glad they did it.

Report: LSU forward Shareef O’Neal enters transfer portal

The LSU legacy is heading to his third school.

The Tigers saw yet another departure from the program on Tuesday, as junior forward [autotag]Shareef O’Neal[/autotag] entered the transfer portal. His decision was first reported by Stadium’s Jeff Goodman.

O’Neal is the son of former LSU and NBA legend [autotag]Shaquille O’Neal[/autotag], who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016. The younger O’Neal was a reserve player for the Tigers in 2021-22, averaging less than 10 minutes per game with 2.9 points and 2.1 rebounds.

He saw just five minutes in LSU’s first-round NCAA Tournament loss to Iowa State, registering a rebound and a turnover. He missed his only attempt from the field and was held off the scoreboard.

O’Neal is a native of Los Angeles, and the former four-star recruit and top-50 prospect in the 2018 recruiting class originally signed with nearby UCLA. However, after appearing in just 13 games with the Bruins as a true freshman and averaging 2.2 points per game, he opted to transfer.

In heading to his father’s alma mater, he hoped to see an increased role. However, that never really materialized. He appeared in just 24 games in two seasons with the Tigers, and he never started a game during his time in Baton Rouge.

LSU has now seen three players enter the transfer portal since coach [autotag]Will Wade[/autotag] was fired ahead of the NCAA Tournament. Guards [autotag]Brandon Murray[/autotag] and [autotag]Xavier Pinson[/autotag] also opted to transfer, while all three commits in 2022 and the lone commit in 2023 have decommitted.

New coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] will certainly have his hands full rebuilding this roster.

O’Neal will enter the 2022-23 season as a senior, but he’ll have two remaining years of eligibility as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. He’ll hope the next stop is the one where he can become a true-difference maker.

“Presidente Biden, traiga a Brittney Griner a casa,” dijo Proudfoot.

Shaquille O’Neal wins Academy Award

One of the most dominant Lakers players of all time just added to his trophy collection.

Shaquille O’Neal, one of the greatest Los Angeles Lakers players of all time and perhaps the most dominant big man ever, has just added a new trophy to his huge collection.

On Sunday, he and Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry won an Academy Award for their documentary short film “The Queen of Basketball.”

The film highlights the life of Lusia Harris, a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame who died earlier this year. She is considered one of the greatest women’s basketball players ever and a pioneer for females in the sport.

In college, as a member of the Delta State University Lady Statesmen, she dominated the landscape by leading her team to three consecutive national titles while being named the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) tournament MVP each time.

Harris also helped lead the United States national team to a gold medal in the 1975 FIBA World Championship and a silver medal in the Olympics the following year.

In 1977, Harris became the first woman officially drafted by an NBA team, the New Orleans Jazz, although she had no interest in trying out for the team, possibly because she was pregnant at the time.

This Oscar award also gives O’Neal another thing in common with his late partner in crime, Kobe Bryant. Bryant won an Oscar in 2018 for his animated short film “Dear Basketball.”

Shaquille O’Neal makes bold prediction about Lakers’ playoffs chances

Lakers great Shaquille O’Neal believes so much in his former team that he made a shocking prediction about them.

In eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, Shaquille O’Neal was perhaps the most dominant player in NBA history, as he helped lead the team to some memorable and tough playoff wins.

His former team has been struggling through arguably its most disappointing season in memory, given that it was expected to contend for the NBA championship.

Now, with just a few weeks remaining in the regular season, LeBron James is putting up one of his greatest statistical seasons ever, while three unexpected role players have given the team some much-needed youth, energy and hustle.

The Lakers are not a lock to reach the play-in tournament, but O’Neal said on “The Big Podcast With Shaq” that they not only make the play-in tournament, but they will also go on to do something amazing.

It’s a bold prediction, and Phoenix Suns fans will surely claim it’s a disrespectful one, but perhaps there’s just a little bit of merit to it.
