Redskins select DE James Smith Williams with pick No. 229 in 2020 NFL Draft

With their final pick in the 2020 draft, the Redskins added DE James Smith Williams, adding depth to their defensive line.

With their final pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins have selected DE James Smith Williams, from NC State.

Any pick in the seventh round is going to be considered a bit of a flier on a guy with high-upside, and that’s exactly what the Redskins got here with Smith Williams.

The Redskins have now bookended their 2020 draft with picks at the DE position, though the first one taken was much more pristine than the last. While it may not seem like Washington has a need for DE, the Redskins are obviously drafting for depth at this point, and they like what Smitt Williams brought to the table.

Redskins select Arkansas S Kamren Curl with pick No. 216 in 2020 NFL Draft

With one of their seventh-round fliers, the Redskins snagged a guy with great upside, hoping he can become a solid contributor in the years to come.

With their first of two picks in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins have selected S Kamren Curl, from Arkansas.

Any pick in the seventh round is going to be considered a bit of a flier on a guy with high-upside, and that’s exactly what the Redskins got here with Curl. Washington has a need for depth in the secondary, looking for someone to backup Sean Davis in the secondary.

It may take some time for Curl to crack the depth chart and earn some minutes, but he will definitely be around this fall, and I almost guarantee he will make the 53-man roster cut.
