Seth Small invited to Indianapolis Colts mini-camp

Seth Small invited to Indianapolis Colts mini-camp

The 2022 NFL draft is over, and with one of the better kicking careers at Texas A&M in the books, Seth Small will join the long list ofAggie special teamers including the likes of Shane Lechler, Randy Bullock, Josh Lambo, and Braden Mann to help continue the long tradition of Aggie kickers and punters making it into the NFL. Small will look to write a new chapter in his kicking career with the Indianapolis Colts.

In four years with the Aggies, Seth small went 164 for 165 on extra points, 71 for 91 on field-goal attempts at a 78% clip, and kicked what might be the most famous gaming winning kick in Texas A&M history during the 2021 season against the Alabama Crimson Tide:

Seth Small will be competing with other fellow invitees with a chance to challenge Colt’s starting kicker, Rodrigo Blankenship. As one of the most beloved players in recent Aggie history, we will all be rooting for Seth Small to find his footing (no pun intended).

Family of Texas A&M’s Seth Small watching him make field goal to beat Alabama is everything

The family of Texas A&M’s Seth Small with some amazing reaction to his kick that downed Alabama

There are moments in the life of athletes that are unforgettable.

Sometimes, it is easy to forget the stress and strain their families endure while watching the games.

Texas A&M defeated top-ranked Alabama, 41-38, Saturday in College Station on a field goal by Seth Small.

The video of Small’s family watching as he gets ready for the kick is intense and then jubilant.

The priceless reaction:

Seth Small’s wife stormed the field after he sealed Texas A&M’s win over Alabama

Just pure sports happiness.

No one was happier about Seth Small’s stunning game-winning field goal that downed the No. 1 team in the country over the weekend than his wife.

On Saturday, unranked Texas A&M shocked now former No. 1 Alabama — who hadn’t lost a game since 2019 — by a score of 41-38 after a 28-yard field goal from Small gave the Aggies the lead as time expired. It was one of the best upsets we’ve seen in some time, one which threw the entire college football landscape into chaos.

The kick was already a thing of beauty, as it hooked perfectly to the right to sneak inside the upright for the win. On Sunday, video surfaced on Twitter from user Cam Worthy — a photographer and videographer for Texas A&M Athletics’ 12th Man Productions — of Small’s family’s reactions to the game-winner.

It’s an incredible moment, one of pure stress which then turned into elation as Small sinks the kick. The highlight of it all is absolutely Small’s wife, who stormed the field in a moment of unadulterated joy.

Now that is what sports are all about right there. What a moment the entire Small family will remember forever.

Texas A&M shocks No. 1 Alabama on field goal as time expires

Texas A&M stunned top-ranked Alabama on a field goal as time expired

Quarterback Zach Calzada went from the blue medical tent to aside Johnny Manziel in Texas A&M football lore.

The backup quarterback injured on the game-tying touchdown drive in the fourth quarter entered the medical tent, walked out with two thumbs up, and directed a drive that gave Texas A&M a shocking 41-38 victory over top-ranked Alabama Saturday in College Station.

The winning points came off the foot of Seth Small, who hit from 28 yards as time ran out. Texas A&M came into the game as an 18-point favorite, having lost its previous two games to Arkansas and Mississippi State.

The upset ended Alabama’s 19-game winning streak and snapped Coach Nick Saban’s mark of having gone 24-0 against his former assistant coaches. A&M coach Jimbo Fisher was once a Saban aide.

Also, Alabama’s streak of 100 straight wins over unranked teams ended.

Small had missed two field goals in the 2020 game with Alabama, which A&M lost by 28 points.

The Aggies owned the first half, leading 24-10 at the break.

The only offense they could muster until the final two drives in the second half was a 96-yard kickoff return for a TD by Devon Achane that made it 31-17.

Meanwhile, Alabama methodically moved the ball, eventually taking a 38-31 lead on a blown coverage by A&M.

However, Calzada found Ainias Smith with a 25-yard pass with 3 minutes left. The PAT tied the game.

Calzada then went into the blue tent and came out as Superman, directing an 8-play, 54-yard drive that culminated in the big kick by Small.

The upset was reminiscent of the 2012 game when Johnny Manziel led A&M to an upset of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

It also made a prophet of Fisher, who said over the summer, “We’re going to beat his ass when he’s there, don’t worry,” to school boosters.

Saban had quipped at what, golf?

Fisher and the Aggies made the coach’s boast come true … quickly.

How Georgia football and TAMU match up: Statistical breakdown

See how Georgia football and Texas AM football matchup in our weekly head-to-head statistical breakdown ahead of Saturdays game.

The Texas A&M Aggies travel East this Saturday as the Georgia Bulldogs will host them in Sanford Stadium for what will be the Dawgs final SEC matchup of the regular season.

Georgia secured a ticket to its third straight SEC Championship Game this past Saturday with a 21-14 victory at Auburn.

The unranked Aggies (7-3, 4-2) are not a team to overlook.  Jimbo Fisher and company have lost games to previously ranked #1 Clemson, #1 Alabama and #8 Auburn. A&M has one of the toughest schedules in all of college football, still having #4 Georgia as well as #1 LSU the week after.

That will be a total of three #1 teams and four top five teams on the season.

That being said, let’s take a look at how these two teams matchup statistically this season.

On paper, the first matchup between the Bulldogs ands Aggies since TAMU joined the SEC in 2012 looks to be a Georgia win. But, hey, we said the same thing before South Carolina.

Here’s a look at how the two SEC programs match up statistically.
