How social media reacted to Notre Dame-Wake Forest: Irish side

Happy about this game?

Notre Dame couldn’t have had a better senior day. Although the first half wasn’t completely dominant, the second half was, and Wake Forest only could wonder what hit it. A 45-7 victory is good on any day, but it especially is good when it comes during the final home game of the season. For some players, it’s the last home game they’ll ever play at their home venue.

Irish fans undoubtedly are frustrated that the big goals for this season got away from the team. However, a day like this is not one to dwell on that. Senior day is a special occasion, and the purpose of that is to honor those who have given so much time and energy to the program and college football in general. That at least is the case if the team wins, and the Irish did.

Here are some of the best postgame tweets that were posted from Irish fans:

Social media reacts to Devyn Ford scoring Notre Dame’s first touchdown

There you go, Devyn.

[autotag]Devyn Ford[/autotag] had yet to score for Notre Dame since transferring over from Penn State. Senior day was his last opportunity to get a touchdown at Notre Dame Stadium. He finally broke through on a 12-yard reception late in the first quarter to give the Irish a 7-0 lead over Wake Forest:

Entering the game against the Deacons, Ford had 36 yards from scrimmage in nine games with 22 of those yards coming on passes. So you would have to forgive any Irish fans who somehow forgot he existed. Waiting until the last home game of the season to get on the scoresheet is an easy way for you to slip through the cracks. Still, he has to be happy to have that monkey off his back at last.

Social media probably didn’t expect to tweet about Ford today, but here are some of the best tweets that were found regarding his touchdown:

Florida baseball honors 8 Gators on Senior Day

It’s Mother’s Day at the ballpark, but it’s also Senior Day. The Florida baseball program said farewell to its seniors on Sunday before the last home game of the regular season.

The final Florida home game of the 2023 baseball regular season is upon us, and the Gators are saying farewell to eight members of the program.

Seven players and one manager are set to move on from the team after this year, and it’s only right that they get a proper sendoff at Condron Family Ballpark.

Guys like BT Riopelle, Josh Rivera and Brandon Sproat have been key pieces of the team for at least the past two seasons and will be missed dearly.

Here’s a look at each of the players and the student manager being honored Sunday.

Oregon men’s basketball honored six seniors after their big win over Stanford inside Matthew Knight Arena.

Every team wants to win on Senior Day and the Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team managed to do just that with a 73-68 victory over Stanford. After the win, the Ducks honored six seniors who made an impact on the program in their own special way.

Will Richardson has played the most games in Oregon history, breaking Payton Prichard’s record. Due to the pandemic, Richardson was able to basically play five full seasons in an Oregon uniform.

N’Faly Dante, one a five-star recruit, battled injuries in order to finally become the player we all thought he could be. Dante turned himself into a dominating inside presence and could have a promising NBA career.

Quincy Guerrier, like Richardson, used the pandemic to have an extra season with the Ducks after transferring in from Syracuse. The power forward has all the tools to be a factor on the next level.

We hardly knew Jermaine Couisnard, the transfer from South Carolina. He was injured to begin the season, but once he got on the court, he was a sharpshooter and a ferocious defender.

Rivaldo Soares came to Oregon as one of the best scorers on the junior college level and while that offense never translated on the Division I level, Soares was a good defender and will be remembered for his clutch play in the win over Oregon State. He hit a game-tying three and eventually the game-winner to defeat the Beavers.

Brady Parris didn’t see much playing time, but he provided the Ducks valuable minutes early in the season as the roster was depleted by injury. He was an important practice player.

DucksWire’s own Ethan Landa was able to capture the day for the seniors.

Twitter reacts to Penn State’s win over Michigan State

Here are some of the best Twitter posts following Penn State’s win over Michigan State

Last night was the season finale for a strong season for the Penn State Nittany Lions. With it being the season finale at home it also means that it was Senior Day for several players, perhaps most notably for [autotag]Sean Clifford[/autotag].

Outside of the Senior Day celebrations there was a game to be played against Michigan State. Despite it getting close in the second half, Penn State seemingly never lost control. The win got Penn State to double digits and marked a strong end to a great season for [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] and his team.

Of course, when you get the perfect blend of a close game and Senior Day, there is a lot of social media reaction. Rounding all those up to get a complete picture of how the night was for fans is always fun.

Iowa Hawkeyes Senior Day: Here’s to you, 22

As we near Iowa’s Senior Day this season, a more personal note to my little brother that I now get to look up to. Here’s to you, 22.

Some of you may know I have a tie to the Iowa program. I have hinted at it and toyed with it, but out of respect for him, I haven’t outwardly said that my little brother is a member of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Until today. That changes a bit. My little brother, Nolan Donald, is a senior at Iowa right now. This week is a bit bittersweet for me if I am being honest. Bitter due to it being the final time he will suit up inside Kinnick. Sweet because he gets to reap the rewards of the immense effort, time, and sacrifice he has put in. That is what I want to talk about. His hard work has been so quietly done and always so dedicated that even though I am four years older, I truly feel that I get to look up to my younger brother and it’s one of the best things in the world.

It hasn’t been easy to get to this day. In fact, it has been an absolute grind. Not just the four years at Iowa, either. Your grind started when you were just a kid.

When we were just kids, our youngest sister, Sophia, passed away in a car accident. Nothing prepares you for that. There is no playbook to handle that, no scheme you can run, nothing. It was life-changing. There was really a turning point of letting it keep each other down or leaning on one another to keep going.

What that did do, though, is bring you, our sister Livia, and myself closer than ever and create a bond that doesn’t even have adjectives to describe how strong it is. It taught us we need each other. And it taught us how to persevere through the hardest of adversities that life can give you. One thing I can tell you, as well, is that Sophia has been at Kinnick with you every single time. You have her angel wings on your right arm and you have her sitting on your shoulder every game.

Life and football are two different things, but it can sort of encapsulate how your career at Iowa has went. There was the broken foot that required surgery two years ago. You got the surgery and kept moving forward. That is until December of 2021.

I’ll never forget when you called me and told me the news. You tore your ACL right before the Big Ten Championship game. My heart sank for you as surgery was required and traveling to the game was off the table. Rather than sulking, you called me up and told me to do whatever it takes to get to Indy and be there.

I wanted to come home to watch it with you, but you weren’t having it. You wanted me in Indy to support Iowa and stay true to a cause bigger than yourself. It wasn’t about you, and you never made it about you, even in the moments you were what mattered most. That’s special.

It all culminates for you this Friday when you get your moment inside Kinnick Stadium. So many memories come to mind. The time we were playing backyard football as kids and tackled each other into the fence, taking down 10 yards of the new fence that had just been put in.

Every Saturday you would get up early after playing your high school games on Friday night and travel the Midwest to watch me play and Livia cheerlead while we were at Augustana College. And now every single Saturday we have gotten to enjoy with you during this ride at Iowa.

Seeing you choose to go to Iowa as a walk-on and give it everything has shown me what it looks like to be dedicated to something bigger than yourself. You have stuck with it, regardless of the circumstances, and done something so few people can say that they did.

You taught me what it looks like to have a dream, reach for that dream, and go get that dream. You are living your dream of being a Big Ten football player who will graduate with a degree. No one can take it. You went out and made your dream happen.

So, when Friday rolls around and you suit up in that 22, just know that even though I am your older brother, you have taught me so much and I look up to you.

I had some tears on my Senior Day at Augie. I had some tears writing this. I know I will have some tears on Friday. I am so proud of your hard work. I am so proud of you. I love you, 22.

Clemson’s win over Miami was a big day for tight end Luke Price. Not only was Saturday’s game senior day for Price, but it was also the day he caught the first touchdown of his Clemson career.

After Wes Goodwin’s defense deflected a pass thrown by Miami quarterback Jacurri Brown and safety Jalyn Phillips came up with the interception, the Tigers were in prime Hurricane territory on the 27-yard line.

Price was in the right place at the right time, waiting patiently in the back left corner of the end zone for a pass coming off the hands of a scrambling D.J. Uiagalelei in the pocket, coming away with Clemson’s third touchdown of the day.

The South Carolina native’s 3-yard touchdown reception was both his first reception of the 2022 season (sixth career reception) as well as the first touchdown of his six-year Clemson career.

Though Price has encountered his fair share of adversity while donning the Orange and Purple, redshirting his freshman year and sustaining a season-ending knee injury during fall camp back in 2020, this will surely be a day that the tight end will always remember.
