Notre Dame couldn’t have had a better senior day. Although the first half wasn’t completely dominant, the second half was, and Wake Forest only could wonder what hit it. A 45-7 victory is good on any day, but it especially is good when it comes during the final home game of the season. For some players, it’s the last home game they’ll ever play at their home venue.
Irish fans undoubtedly are frustrated that the big goals for this season got away from the team. However, a day like this is not one to dwell on that. Senior day is a special occasion, and the purpose of that is to honor those who have given so much time and energy to the program and college football in general. That at least is the case if the team wins, and the Irish did.
