The SEC made an announcement that the 2020 SEC Media Days would hold its first ever virtual media days this year, due to the coronavirus.

On Wednesday morning, the SEC made an announcement that the 2020 SEC Media Days would hold its first ever virtual media days this year, due to the coronavirus.

SEC Football Media Days was originally scheduled to be held in Atlanta, July 13-16, at the College Football Hall of Fame and Omni Atlanta Hotel.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey shared that:

“Conducting football media days in a virtual format will provide us the opportunity to manage the event in a healthy manner as we continue to be impacted by COVID-19, and will provide flexibility for our programs to adjust their preparation for the 2020 football season according to the preseason calendar that is expected to be expanded due to the cancellation of the spring football season. We look forward to returning to our traditional media days format in 2021.”

The SEC also announced that ” the virtual event will feature Sankey’s annual “State of the SEC” address, as well as media sessions with the conference’s 14 head coaches and select student-athletes from each school. The SEC is in planning with the SEC Network to provide wall-to-wall coverage of the virtual event.

The dates and times for the 2020 SEC Virtual Football Media Days have not been announced at this time.

SEC media days remain ‘full steam ahead’ in July

2020 SEC media days.

BIRMINGHAM — Southeastern Conference media days is scheduled to take place July 13-16 at the College Football Hall of Fame and Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, Ga.

With the coronavirus pandemic ongoing and the SEC canceling all spring sports for the remainder of the 2019-20 athletic calendar, media days could potentially be postponed or canceled.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey discussed if media days remain scheduled to take place this July in Atlanta.

“I’m going to be half-full right now and say we’re full steam ahead on our Atlanta planning for media days,” Sankey said during a teleconference Wednesday. “Last Thursday morning, I was full steam ahead on planning a basketball tournament and was disrupted.

“So we’re going to prepare for disruption, but we’re going to plan as if, in July, we’ll have the Media Days opportunity as scheduled, and that’s the best answer I can give at this moment.”

Georgia football fans expected to take over SEC Championship

UGA football fans are expected to take over the SEC Championship in Atlanta

If you’ve been following along with the Georgia Bulldogs this season, you probably already know about the impressive takeovers fans have made at Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Auburn and Georgia Tech.

Now, it’s time to turn our attention to the SEC Championship game, which is supposed to be played at a neutral-site in Mercedes Stadium.

However, Vivid Seats has informed us that the forecasted fan ratio is 69% Georgia fans (nice) and 31% LSU fans on Saturday.

If this is true, we expect a pretty significant Bulldog advantage over the Tigers in crowd noise, which could play a factor in the game. Earlier in the week, Coach Ed Orgeron mentioned he was getting his team ready for the noise at practice, but even that might not be enough for what is about to come.

“We will have crowd noise on Tuesday, Wednesday. Be very well-prepared for all the Georgia fight songs they’ll play on our field all week.”

Can the Dawg Nation help lead this Georgia team to victory? We’ll see, but it’s certainly not going to be easy.

Go Dawgs!
