Florida’s initial SEC Availability Report ahead of Ole Miss matchup

Taking a look at who’s in and who’s out for the Gators ahead of their matchup vs. Ole Miss.

As Florida football gears up for a tough showdown with the Ole Miss Rebels this weekend, Wednesday evening’s release of the initial SEC availability report offers a closer look at the Gators’ health heading into the matchup.

This week’s list of players doesn’t seem as daunting when compared to the injury reports from previous weeks for the Gators.

Injuries have been a recurring theme for Florida throughout the season, forcing the team to navigate games without starters from both offense and defense across the field.

It all ties back to the “next man up” mentality that head coach Billy Napier and his players embrace. Florida has faced plenty of adversity this season, and stepping into bigger roles has become second nature for this team.

Here is the full availability report for the Gators.

Players listed as “Out”

DB Ja’Keem Jackson

DB Jason Marshall Jr. (season-ending injury)

WR Eugene Wilson III (season-ending injury)

WR Kahleil Jackson (season-ending injury)

OL Devon Manuel

DL Jamari Lyons (season-ending injury)

DJ Lagway, Elijah Badger no longer ‘questionable’ on Florida availability report

The Florida Gators are getting two major pieces of its offense back against LSU in quarterback DJ Lagway and wide receiver Elijhah Badger.

Two big pieces of Florida’s offense are set to return on Saturday when the Gators host the LSU Tigers at home.

Freshman quarterback [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag] and senior wide receiver [autotag]Elijhah Badger[/autotag] are no longer listed as “questionable” on Florida’s availability report, following a Thursday evening update. Both missed last week’s contest against Texas.

Lagway returns from a hamstring injury suffered two weeks ago against Georgia. He was questionable through the week leading up to the Texas game but was ultimately scratched as a game-time decision.

Florida defensive back Trikweze Bridges commented on Lagway’s readiness on Wednesday.

“Today (Lagway) threw really good,” Bridges said. “One of those balls, we were like, ‘Oh yeah, he’s back.’ He threw a great ball today in practice. Today was a very competitive day. We have a scoreboard up with points and it was 7-7 the whole day,” Bridges said of Lagway. “It was very competitive at the end of the practice and he threw a great ball down the middle to Fraziars. It was nice.”

Florida is still hoping to get starting running back Montrell Johnson Jr. and right guard Damieon George Jr. back in the fold this week.

Florida’s initial SEC Availability Report ahead of LSU matchup

Here’s a look at who’s questionable and who won’t play for the Gators vs. LSU in Week 12.

The initial SEC availability report for Florida football’s matchup with the LSU Tigers was released on Wednesday night, and the list of injuries is lengthy for the Gators.

The Gators, who are aiming to bounce back and keep bowl eligibility hopes alive, face significant questions regarding the availability of several key players.

Quarterback DJ Lagway is currently listed as “questionable” for this weekend’s game. The freshman missed last week’s game against Texas due to a left hamstring injury but head coach Billy Napier is optimistic regarding Lagway’s progress.

“He’s (Lagway) been able to practice,” Napier said during Wednesday’s press conference. “He’s getting closer and closer to getting prepared to play.”

Another player listed as “questionable” is running back Montrell Johnson Jr. who has been dealing with a lower-body injury that has kept him out of action for several weeks. Napier labeled the senior as “day-to-day”.

Others listed as “questionable” are receiver Elijhah Badger and offensive lineman Damieon George Jr.

Flipping to defense, a key player that the Gators will be without against the Tigers on Saturday is linebacker Grayson Howard. Howard has been officially ruled “out” for this weekend’s contest and with his injury, it will certainly test the depth of the linebacker position for Florida.

You can view the full SEC availability report here.

Florida’s initial SEC Availability Report ahead of Week 11 Texas matchup

Ten members of the Orange and Blue are listed as “out” while six are mentioned as “questionable”, including DJ Lagway in the latter category.

The initial SEC availability report for the Florida Gators ahead of their Southeastern Conference matchup at the Texas Longhorns is out and Billy Napier’s squad has 16 players mentioned.

Of those mentioned on the injured list for Week 11, 10 are listed as “out” while six are mentioned as “questionable”. Among those listed as unavailable is quarterback [autotag]Graham Mertz[/autotag], who suffered a season-ending injury against the Tennessee Volunteers in Week 7.

Also out for the rest of the fall is defensive back [autotag]Jason Marshall Jr[/autotag]., whose injured labrum required surgery that effectively ended his 2024 campaign, and wide receiver Euegene Wilson III, who underwent surgery to repair his injured hip on Tuesday.

Running back [autotag]Treyaun Webb[/autotag], who also underwent surgery this week, and while it has not yet been determined if his season is over, remains among those listed as “out”.

Florida’s current starting quarterback [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag] is listed as “questionable” along with running back [autotag]Montrell Johnson Jr[/autotag]., wide receiver Elijhah Badger, defensive back Dijon Johnson, offensive lineman Damieon George Jr. and defensive lineman Cam Jackson.

The rest of the “out” list mirrors that from last week.

Georgia without several players against Florida in latest injury update

Florida might be banged up heading into its rivalry game against Georgia, but the Bulldogs are dealing with their fair share of injuries, too.

Florida is dealing with its fair share of injuries 10 weeks into the college football season, but the Georgia Bulldogs are also coming into Saturday’s contest shorthanded.

The Bulldogs are missing a pair of running backs behind former Gator Trevor Etienne. Roderick Robinson II and Branson Robinson are both out this week. The former Robinson has yet to appear in a game this season due to injury, and the latter has been out since Oct. 12 against Mississippi State. Branson has 73 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries this season.

Wide receiver Anthony Evans is also missing from the offense this week after being a late addition to the injury report on Thursday. Reports indicate it’s a hamstring problem. Losing a top receiver may limit Carson Beck’s effectiveness in the passing game.

The defense will also be without two key players — linebacker Smael Mondon and defensive end Josepth Jonah-Ajonye. Mondon has 17 tackles on the year but has been sidelined since playing in the Alabama game on Sept. 28. Jonah-Ajonye, a freshman, has only played in one game this year, recording a single tackle against Kentucky on Sept. 14.

Two defensive backs to miss first half

Georgia’s secondary will be shorthanded in the first half after starting nickel Joenel Aguero and starting strong safety Dan Jackson were both ejected from the Texas game last week after drawing targeting penalties.

Florida quarterback DJ Lagway is known as one of the nation’s top deep-ball passers. These injuries could lead to more deep shots from the Gators’ offense early on, even without top receiver Eugene Wilson III in the lineup.

Two linemen listed as probable

The Bulldogs could also be without a lineman on both sides of the ball; although, defensive tackle Jordan Hall and center Tate Ratledge are both listed as probably heading into Week 10. Neither starts for Georgia, but they are significant depth pieces should other injuries pop up.

SEC teams are required to submit final availability reports 90 minutes ahead of game time. Check back with Gators Wire for any updates before Florida and Georgia kickoff.

Two changes in Florida’s updated availability report ahead of UGA game

The Gators update their availability report, with one player added to the “out” column while another returns from being questionable.

One day remains before Florida football takes the field against the Georgia Bulldogs inside EverBank Stadium for the annual World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in Jacksonville. Ahead of the Southeastern Conference matchup, the Gators made a couple of changes to their SEC availability report.

Ten members of the Orange and Blue are now listed as “out” for college football’s Week 10 matchup, with two others listed as “questionable”. Running back [autotag]Treyaun Webb[/autotag] was added to the report after being ruled out for this weekend’s gridiron battle while linebacker [autotag]R.J. Moten[/autotag] was removed from the questionable list and will be available to play.

Among those unavailable this Saturday is quarterback Graham Mertz, who suffered a season-ending injury against the Tennessee Volunteers in Week 7. Also out for the rest of the fall is defensive back Jason Marshall Jr., whose injured labrum will require surgery that effectively ends his 2024 campaign.

Defensive lineman Jamari Lyons and wide receiver Kahleil Jackson are also out with season-ending injuries. Joining them on the sidelines this week are wide receiver Eugene Wilson III and defensive back Asa Turner, as well as offensive linemen Devon Manuel and Roderick Kearney.

Running back [autotag]Montrell Johnson Jr[/autotag]. and offensive lineman Damien George are the two players listed as “questionable”.

Florida releases SEC Availability Report for Kentucky game

Florida begins the DJ Lagway era this week following Graham Mertz’s season-ending injury, but who else will the Gators be without versus Kentucky?

Florida has a whopping 16 players listed on its initial SEC Availability Report ahead of a Week 8 matchup against Kentucky.

Ten of those players are already out for Saturday’s contest, three of which are done for the year. The most recent addition to that list is starting quarterback [autotag]Graham Mertz[/autotag], who tore his ACL against Tennessee.

Defensive lineman Jamari Lyons and wide receiver Kahleil Jackson are also out with season-ending injuries. Linebacker R.J. Moten is also a new addition to the injury list for Florida after suffering an injury last weekend.

Wide receivers TJ Abrams and Marcus Burke, running back KD Daniels,  tight end Tony Livingston, offensive lineman Devon Manuel and defensive back [autotag]Ja’Keem Jackson[/autotag] are the other Gators ruled out this week.

Gators who could play this week

Starting running back [autotag]Montrell Johnson Jr[/autotag]. and sophomore [autotag]Treyaun Webb[/autotag] are both questionable. Webb hasn’t played the past two games but could be back on the field this week.

Johnson missed the second half of the Tennessee game after going down with an injury, but Billy Napier said that it’s a relatively minor issue. Getting both back this week would be big against a Kentucky defense that’s better against the pass than the run.

Offensive lineman [autotag]Austin Barber[/autotag] and safety [autotag]Asa Turner[/autotag] are both questionable for a second straight week. Barber played last week, but Turner sat recovering from a non-contact injury suffered in Week 1.

Florida has figured out how to play defense without Turner, but there’s no doubt he makes the team better. Barber is one of the stalwarts on the offensive line, and his backup, Manuel, is listed as out this week. The Gators are in trouble if they are without their starting left tackle.

Safety Bryce Thornton is also questionable for the second week in a row. He played 27 snaps last week in a backup role.

Rounding out the list of questionable players is long snapper Rocco Underwood. Florida has one of the best special teams units in the country, and a change at long snapper can change that in a hurry. Jeremy Crawshaw is still an elite punter, but getting a bad snap or two could affect him.

Florida true freshman WR upgraded to active on Thursday availability report

After being listed as questionable for Saturday’s matchup with Mississippi State, Florida true freshman wide receiver Tank Hawkins has been upgraded to active.

Florida true freshman wide receiver [autotag]Tank Hawkins[/autotag] has been upgraded from questionable to active, according to Thursday’s SEC Availability Report.

Hawkins has only played 20 snaps for Florida this year — five against Samford and 15 against Texas A&M — but that number could grow with lead receiver [autotag]Eugene Wilson III[/autotag] recovering from surgery on his knee to address a meniscus injury.

Billy Napier used Hawkins on a sweep play that typically would go to Wilson last week; although, Hawkins was hit hard on the play and the tackler was charged with targeting.

It’s unclear what Hawkins’ injury was coming out of the game, but he was limited enough in the first half of the week to earn that questionable tag on the initial availability report.

Florida has a few options besides Hawkins if the coaching staff feels they need to limit his snap count. Fellow true freshman Aidan Mizell has good speed and caught a touchdown from DJ Lagway against Samford, and redshirt junior Marcus Burke has the size to line up on the outside as a deep threat.

However, it was Taylor Spierto who received the most snaps behind starters Chimere Dike and Elijhah Badger last week. Hawkins has one catch for a 36-yard touchdown on two targets this season.

Up next for the Gators

Florida will play their first road game of the season as they travel up to Starkville to play against Mississippi State on Saturday, Sept. 21. Kickoff is set for noon ET and will be broadcast on ESPN.

Florida football dealing with several injuries heading into Week 4

Florida’s defensive line, secondary and wide receiver corps will all be down three or more players against Mississippi State.

The Florida Gator will once again be short-handed on Saturday when they travel to Mississippi State to face the Bulldogs during Week 4.

Florida reported 10 players as unavailable for Saturday’s contest on the initial SEC Availability Report, released Wednesday night as required by the conference.

The biggest name on the list is sophomore wide receiver Eugene “Tre” Wilson III, who missed last week after suffering a knee injury against Samford. However, Wilson was a game-time decision last week and warmed up on the field before the Texas A&M game. Being downgraded to out immediately this week isn’t a good sign.

Also missing from the receiving corps are seniors Ja’Quavion Fraziars and Kahleil Jackson. Fraziars was hurt in fall camp and has yet to take the field for Florida, while Jackson underwent knee surgery that ended his season after Week 1. Freshman Tank Hawkins is also on the availability report as the only questionable injury on the team.

https://twitter.com/aidangallard0/status/1836560187399815216/

Florida’s secondary is also banged up. Ja’Keem Jackson remains out after getting the start in Week 2, but Week 1 starter Devin Moore is back after dealing with an AC joint injury.

Redshirt freshman Aaron Gates, who split snaps at the STAR position is also out, as is Washington transfer and sixth-year senior Asa Turner at safety. Turner suffered a non-contact injury against Miami and hasn’t played since.

Florida’s defensive line is also dealing with a few injuries. Jamari Lyons broke his ankle during fall camp and will miss the entire season. Penn transfer Joey Slackman is recovering from meniscus surgery, and true freshman Michai Boireau is listed as out this week.

Last but not least, center/guard Roderick Kearney is the lone unavailable player on the offensive line.
