Seattle Sounders vs. Monterrey picks and predictions

Prediction

Seattle Sounders 1, Monterrey 0

Moneyline (ML)

BET SEATTLE SOUNDERS (+150).

The Sounders have been strong at home in MLS action. They should start F Jordan Morris instead of bringing him off the bench and expect action from top M Nicolas Lodeiro. Both players should have a tremendous impact on the outcome.

Also, RSL had more shots yet couldn’t finish against Monterrey. The chances were there though, and Seattle is trailing RSL on the Western Conference table by 1 point. It has been just as good as RSL and should have a much improved showing Sunday.

Monterrey also could have some tired legs, having played Wednesday against RSL. It also doesn’t need to win here. It will still win the group with a loss that’s less than 3 goals which should aid its urgency.

Take SEATTLE SOUNDERS (+150).

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (-116).

Monterrey had tremendous finishing against RSL, scoring 3 goals on just 5 shots on goal. That likely won’t be repeated, especially against a Seattle team that has allowed 2 goals in its last 6 home matches.

Seattle has gone Under this total in 9 of 13 home matches this season and has a defense that is allowing just 0.96 goals per game. Its offense hasn’t been much better, scoring just 2 goals in its last 5 home matches. Seattle had just 1 shot on goal against RSL despite F Raul Ruidaz playing all 90 and RSL getting a red card in the 60th.

Seattle has been bad in the final third offensively and continues its strong defense play. Considering how Monterrey played RSL as well, back limited chances for both sides and the UNDER 2.5 (-116).
